- I bought a dual zone fridge/freezer for this years Mojave desert trip because I didn't want to take a 77qt cooler and deal with ice and the water that it creates. After looking at domestic brands a realizing that they didn't fit my budget, I found what is probably the cheapest 59qt dual zone fridge/freezer with a battery option.
The battery is optional and 150 bucks extra. Even still, at around 450 dollars all in, I figured what could go wrong?
Well, things went wrong. I was concerned that I might be screwed by buying a product direct from the land of cheap stuff. However they stood behind it and sent the necessary part to get the fridge back up and running. But did they do it in time for the trip? You'll just have to watch and see.

Fantastic, in-depth review. Im looking to purchase one of these for my dad so he doesn't have to haul a cooler and change out the ice on the road-trips he takes.
Great review. Loved the mushroom cloud 😂
Awesome Video demonstrating presentation-
Definitely getting one!!
That bomb going off made me laugh uncontrollably
I had bought an 80qt NEWAIR last year for my camper van… couldn’t get temperature to stay set on either side..JUNK!…sent it back to Amazon and got a refund. Bought a different one…same one you have only mine is branded VEVOR…47qt I think it is (you may have seen it in the van when I was at your house ). Same exact app I have as well! I haven’t ran mine any length of time seeings I only made the one trip [to your place] and back home again…I’ve turned it on maybe twice since then to make sure it’s still working. I really like operating it with the app. Great video…good to see you on video again. Stay safe! ~Jim~
You look like a guy that might have a few 20 volt power tools. I used a converter to knock that 20 volts down to 14.5 volts and now Ryobi powers my cooler. A 6 AH runs the thing as a deep freeze (-4 F/-4 F) with 31 pounds of Ice ( that I first made in the cooler using wall power) for about 4 hours. The desert sounds like the perfect place to use a 100 watt solar panel to run the cooler along with the built in battery. BTW, don't ever plug a solar panel directly into the little jack in the battery. All the magic blue smoke comes out.
Great overview. I just bought the Vevor version of this cooler, but the internal battery is way to expensive at $128, so I will be using an external 12V 100ah SOK battery instead.
Did you buy the 56qt with the pull handle vevor? They have something that looks like a battery near the top but they don’t list it as option on description. Curious if you have this same model
I hooked up a second full-size group 31 Deep Cycle in both my vans with a 100amp breaker. I run a separate 6 fuse box and hookup my stuff to the second battery through the second fuse box, and turn the breaker off, not to discharge the start battery.
if I had room for a second battery, I would
That too much trouble for a new item bud and I like your snap on tool box I’ve got one that was 10 grand lol I was a drivability tech for years and got a degree in automotive electronics then I left that industry and now I’m a aa millwright so I understand what your doing trying to make that cooler better lol
Thanks for the video. Does the operating manual mention a max ambient temperature? I am concerned about the temperature in a pickup bed under a tonneau cover during a hot day.
It doesn’t. I recently got a insulated cover for it and I think that would help
@@dzlfreek Oh good idea. Do you have a link?

I have this same fridge. Plugged it into AC it runs but sure hope I don’t run into problems haven’t taken it camping yet but will in June.
it'll probably be fine. I probably screwed something up when I plugged that home made battery bank into to solar port.
Hows the noise level on it ???

I've have the older style cooler from them, its been running strong for almost 3 years now.
how many hours did you get using only the battery to operate the fridge on a full battery
Depends on the temp difference inside to outside the fridge. How often it gets opened. I was getting anywhere from 6 to 12 hours
4min he starts the actual video
Great video, did your cooler come with the battery or did you have to purchase it separately? Thanks!
Purchased separately. Thanks for watching!
just got an identical looking shell (except has split lid) from a different brand and fingers crossed it'll last.
The extended nuclear explosion was appreciated.
You mentioned you regretted buying the 59qt over the 49qt but didn’t explain why. Could you please give you opinion please? I too had 49qt in mind but falling into the 30 dollar more trap haha
for what I use it for, its too big. I may not feel the same when and if I find a square body suburban. But for now, it takes up a ton of space in the XJ
@@dzlfreek so after I wrote that comment, it seems that the only diff is in the height of the two… contact footprint is exactly the same. The 59 is just 2”
Taller that’s all…. Maybe that might help buyers remorse on the size haha
Next will see you put solar on your jeep to charge n run your coolie box😊
I ran out of time. It was part of the plan though
So would you not recommend any of these?
I would recommend. its just that bigger isn't always better
refrigerator* :)
