Did you like how the anime portrayed Lille's new form? How do you feel about the surprise appearance of Shinken Hakkyoken? And most importantly...what's going to happen next? Let me know your thoughts below - thanks everyone!
From what I heard shinken hakkuyoken is based in Japan mythology which was used to kill a god. N the family that holds it was the ise clan which is exist in real life. Cud you make a video about it as I feel like most think nanao sword is an asspull but imo it isn't.
They use green initially so it doesn't crash with Kyoraku's gold bankai. Because they made Warhwelt dark, they give gold to Kyoraku's bankai. So three color avoid each other: - Warhwelt is made dark with purple tone to differentiate between places. - Instead of both Warhwelt and Kyoraku's bankai going for dark, Kyoraku got glimmering gold. - Since Kyoraku's bankai is gold, Lille's Vollständig is made green initially until the bankai is gone so the color doesn't blend in on each other.
I'll be honest, I am not nearly as interested in the Shinigami backstories and lore as I am Quincy lore gecause the latter is sorely undercooked. Therefore, I would have happily shortened or sacrificed Kyouraku's flashback in favor of one for Lille, where I assume he had a similar life story to that of Isaac from the Castlevania Netflix show. Tbh, I was always more interested in Ukitake than Kyouraku anyway, especially given his history with Ginjo, Kaien, and the living world in general. EDIT: Also, why is it weird that Lille, as a messenger of God made of holy light, can see Kyouraku and Nanao inside his shadow? It's hardly a stretch to believe his vision wasn't greatly enhanced, even if it got a bit choppy.
Something I consider about the Shinken Hakkyoken and it's place in the Bleach universe is that the world is still (at least I assume) founded on Shinto principles. They don't get emphasized much due to the shows focus on death and the afterlife (far more Buddhism-oriented), but Shinto principles would still guide much of the day-to-day and world building (In Japan, Shinto just IS and if you talk to the Japanese it's ingrained in a way that it's almost invisible to them and inseparable from simply being Japanese). That said, the idea of a god-killing zanpakutou... swap 'god' for 'kami' and I feel it makes a lot more sense. We don't see the interactions with the kami of the Bleach world (they're ingrained in the world of the living after all...not our focus here), so inserting a relic geared towards them seems out of place (whereas it would be very normal in the Shinto day-to-day). Lille Barro, evolving beyond the mortal realm now fits more into that of the kami - divine, spiritual entities, and thus falls under the influence of a weapon geared towards them. His own viewpoint fits the quasi-judeo-christian bent of Ywach and the quincies, so he would see himself elevating towards his god (but what are angels if not kami). We know that other spiritual entities and creatures exist (see Burn the Witch), so perhaps Shinken Hakkyoken is more inline with THAT aspect of the world than the traditional world of the shinigami.
We are eating good this year. 14 episodes confirmed plus double episode finale on 28th. Kubo confirmed that there will be entire episodes in cour 4 that we didn't see in the original story. Bleach is one of the most read manga of 2024 according to official Shonen Jump App. Also, next episode has insane staff so I'll be looking forward to it.
yeah, and I have feeling the staff list for 39 & 40 is where they are going to put all their best people on and maybe even get some really talented freelancers to join in.
+ Cour 3 12th episode "Friend" confirmed to be longer than usual episodes, reaching over 26 minutes filled with new elements to the backstory for Bazz-B and Haschwalt.
For some of those new episodes, a part of me hopes we get what’s happening on the ground with the Lille remains, more Shinji and the Vizard, something to do with SoiFon, an Isshin + Uryu’s Father team up, more Tsukushima, and more
mrtommo is the GOAT bleach youtubers. no question. lol i fkn love your consistent, high quality approach to all yr vids idk what bleach fandom would do w/o you
Tosen's lesson about fearing to hold a weapon is reconfirmed by Nanao. She never knew how heavy a sword is in a fight less how to take a life. Which is something Shunsui helped her with. Always count on family .
Lille Barro looked amazing this week! His death resulting in a rain of light showering the area was beautiful, especially the shot of a crescent moon, maybe a nod to Izuru.
17:09- prior to this episode, my head cannon would be that he’d retain the regular voice but it would be much hammier and melodramatic- creating a crazed zealot. This episode gives the Tosen parallels even greater weight as their ultimate forms cause their usual baritone voices to go drastically up in pitch to give it a very surreal and unnatural tone- with the vocal tones giving an uncanny childishness that contrasts with his usual behavior but fits the manchild he is deep down
Lille was still too put together and flat. He really should have hammed it up and started sounding like an owl. When I read the manga, I imagined something more foppish, yet also crazy.
Tommo one thing you get wrong is that God's light is not exact light like in the Sun light, it is more like their aura, my headcannon is that Lillie is an transcendent being like Aizen, remember how the more Aizen "transcend" less human he apears, the same thing happens with Lillie, remembering that Ichigo and Yhwach are natural transcent being so they don't mutate the steonger they get, yo me Lillie receveid so much blood from Yhwach that his auswalen force his transcedence making he a mosnter, like Aizen force transcedence by hougyoku.
That is a pretty natural deduction, IMO, and I find it strange that Tommo hasn't changed his stance on this thanks to numerous comments stating this point on the Shinken Hakkyoken video. Then again, this video was probably recorded before that one was uploaded.
My idea for why Lille looks holier than Gerard and Pernida is because they are pieces of the old order of things. Where as Lille was designed by Yuha to be basically the herald of something entirely new, thus his "special privileges" and appearance.
Right off the bat what i loved about this episode more than anything was Trompete. It was terrifying and beautiful all at once. Great sound design. Reminds me of the sound that some storm sirens make from a far distance. That strange rainbow/white ring thing it leaves behind is interesting. Maybe its meant to be a sort of hole in space from the sheer power? Anyway that shit was so cool lol
It gave dark souls/elden ring vibes which is good, since the stuff its dealing with is very eldritch and it also has reference to both Shinto god and Seraphim. I don't think many anime use horror/suspense orchestra which is rare but works very well.
You nailed it. It reminded me a lot of entering Leyndell capital. The scale, the light, the horns in the background. Just a terrifying vibe of corrupted holiness or something lol. @@WieldMyWord
It feels like beyond being a Cherubim, Lille borrows from the idea of the eternal Phoenix, being reborn after he was killed, but only his power could turn him to "ash".
I just put it together. He took the Hairpin from his brother, Nanao's Mothers Kimono, Hairpin and Sword... AND Old Man Yama, his father figure... his title and position of Head Captain. That's why after he read the letter, he said "Give me a break..." He said it here to confirm it, "Don't they know I hate shouldering responsibilities?" Head Captain being the biggest of all.
39:27 remember she had to wait because Ohana had to give birth to Okyo in order to hide the blade. So Shunsui had to either have bankai at this point or found a way to split his sword. So yea he was probably unable to hide it before this point
@trehairston1840: I agree, though my train of thought didn't go toward his bankai. I just figured that she came up with a plan before giving birth, but couldn't enact it immediately.
Mr. Tommo is just brilliant. Don’t think I’ve ever came across a UA-camr whose character/fight analysis is so in depth and well thought out. Dude is a analyst god lol
@@MrGksarathy I imagine he meant that Shunsui could've possibly observed or even bumped into the Wandenreich while occupying the shadows they were living in at the time.
@@TheGoddamnBacon That's kind of what I meant. If Aizen could discover them skulking around probably intentionally, why couldn't Shunsui accidentally find them in the shadows? It's possible they went out of their way to avoid him from childhood since he was one of Yamamoto's proteges and a shadow user.
You know what really got me with this episode? The way Lille's eyes kept rapidly blinking asynchronously. I kind of wish they directly called Shunsui Nanao's uncle because I didn’t catch that when I read this chapter until later.
Nanao's sudden development just comes out of nowhere i like it but needs more! The Ise family curse the zanpakuto that probably has more secrets. After central 46 executed Nanao's mom Tokinada was trying to convince them to torture Nanao but Byakuya's grandfather stopped them. _Shunsui one way or another must spread his connection with nobels and aristocrats to have some power in 46 because they be manipulated easily._

@@quincyquincy4764 central 46 is their [criminal] justice system. During the soul society arc Toshiro explained how it works. Tommo had videos of deep analysis.
Here's a thought, lille has been given god's glory, which biblically is god's light. It would make sense then, that Nanao's shinken hakyoken would work
There is 2 OST’s that I’ve been waiting for that. They haven’t played yet in the thousand year blood war is “ when you feel the pressure” and “ stand up be strong”
I don’t trust any fan who wasn’t impressed with Trompete. Maybe they were more impressed with Renji’s new abilities because they were brand new to the anime, but the way they depicted trompete here was perfect.
I think Askin summed up Lille perfectly. He is the leader of the schuttzstaffel, and his role as leader is absolute and unquestioned....meaning they all know his power and none would dare try to stand against him.
@AncientChi: Gerard is a meat-head that's damned near-impossible to kill. You can point him at the enemy for good results, but he's too brash and bull-headed to be leadership material. If for some weird reason they ended up on opposing sides, Trompet could destroy his heart and kill him in one blow. Lille's permeability would provide enough time to charge up and use it, too.
@@AncientChi Lille is the leader. The only people ranked above him are Jugram and Yhwach. Gerard might shit talk Lille sometimes, but that's just what mates do.
I imagine "Schutzstaffel" is probably being intentionally avoided at this point. I imagine someone in the chain of command probably doesn't want a direct, explicit reference to the Nazi's, probably because it's potentially glorifying.
If they don't want to 'glorify' the N*zis, then they shouldn't make villains based on them in the first place. Villains NEED to be threatening to work, and a side-effect of being threatening is that people will use that as a reference to call those villains 'badass'. If all N*zis in fiction need to be bumbling idiots, then A, I think that's actually *more* offensive to the people who survived, telling them that the people who killed their friends and families were just a joke, and B, such bumbling idiots should not be the final villains of an arc. It's an even more stupid reason once you realize the Wandenreich are *worse* than the N*zis, as they do all the same shit and are working towards a goal that's even more atrocious.
Honestly in retrospect, I am really ticked off that they didn’t add to pernidas fight, cause now we’ve SEEN his voltstandig and yet he didn’t use it ONCE in his only actual fight. Also nemu only using one attack is really lame as well, if she was gonna die then she should’ve used that soul shaving technique to the limit, sacrificing whole parts of her to do so.
I would of loved a scene where one of the older Shinigami during the first invasion remarks with regret that, "You know we used to have this totally OP sword that could of totally one shot all these guys including Yhwach, but some fool a few hundred years ago totally lost it."
I say he won because he beat Lille as a Quincy and even in his released for but the final extra form as a holy form which is something no one can touch even with their bankai there is no way it can be beat w/o a weapon that is meant for killing a God which is where Nanao comes in as she is the only one with that weapon to kill gods heavenly light. Kyoraku beat him in his 2 forms and Nanao beat him in holy form which can only be beaten with something meant for killing a god
That sponsor section made me want MrTommo to do some food review videos lol. Also great review as always, you're probably the only one I've seen to point out that the beam Lille shoots out from his hand is just the ultimate version of the X-axis ability.
In all fairness, I think Disney wants to avoid using the Schutzstaffel name because of some unfortunate connotations, that's why they're referred more as Royal Guard. But we'll see.
@@MrGksarathy yeah, but it's not as "in your face" like literally being called Schutzstaffel. It's like when they censored Ichigo's FB manifestation, remember that one ? I know the swastika has different meanings but one will always crop up first...
@@YourProfessional-Gachagamer I know, and even when I first read the manga, I questioned if Kubo had to be so gratuitous with calling Ywach's personal guard the SS. It honestly is, and I feel Kubo only had a limited understanding of Nazism when he wrote this arc. Maybe he had some more complex understanding of the nature of fascism, but I feel that would be me reading way too much into certain elements.
@@kaenryuuart543 It is weird, but getting romantic undertones isn't that weird since for years and arcs prior, there was this sort of ongoing shiptease between the two, and this sequence felt like the apex of that. I personally was weirded out because I saw the "admiration" as pretty clearly romantic back in the day while also realizing Shunsui was Nanao's biological uncle. I chalked it up to Kubo trying to write Soul Society as very, very traditional, given that uncle-niece marriages used to be pretty common in the nobility. I further believed it because I really didn't like how Nemu's death was handled and thought Kubo was romanticizing the dynamic between an abuser and their victim. Still, was grossed out.
Shunsui's support for Nanao is heartwarming and expected as commander and subordinate. The eldritch abomination angel theme was meaningful as those who seek to end the Shinigami's reign over the afterlife and stand as their opposites take the war to its end game.
He was never going to win against Lille - the Quincies can consolidate their powers and abilities and the shikigamis can’t. Yhwach took powers from other Quincies and gave them to his Elite 4. Shunsui is very powerful in his own right, but he’s had to work to get there.
The only thing I was confused on was that we didn't see the exact shot of nanao turning the sword like she does in the intro. They used a different shot. Like wtf m8?
Is Nanao confirmed Shunshui’s niece? Cos her mom returned to the Ise home by herself with no child tagged along, and by the time she met Shunsui to pass along the sacred sword he’s much more grown since his brother’s death. Nanao just seemed too young to fit the bill. But with the mysterious aging process in the soul society, she could be 200 years old already 😂
We can't say for sure, but I highly doubt the Ise clan married her off or had her impregnated again. That, and the implication that Isuzu sought to protect her unborn child makes me think Nanao is Shunzan's daughter.
After originally reading it week to week, I just realized this fight is just Barragon again. Basically invincible. They were so hax OP that the only way to beat them was with their own power. Having Hachi use forbidden Kido to transfer his severed arm might be leagues above Nanao having a random sword perfectly designed to defeat this particular enemy that can only be weilded by her and kyoraku has always had it. I do feel like the stakes were way higher with kyoraku's fight because he is the captain commander using bankai and the enemy has returned even more powerful. Barragon was beating Soi Fon, thats not exactly impressive
11:05 you relate Kyoraku's bankai to the relationship with his brother and sister-in-law. I think you're dead on, from everything I understand of Bleach (granted I'm no expert], I would guess that this marriage changed his life so drastically that it did in fact become his bankai, also out of guilt. For hiding Kyokotsu [right?] Isuzu is put to death, and the anime makes a point to say how much grief Kyoraku went through. At that point he did not look to be his mature self, what if at that point he wasn't captain level and during this grieving period used his zanpaktou to channel his emotions and made that vow to die with her to convince himself that Isuzu would be proud at least.
To add onto this theory - imagine if Nanao’s participation and agency imprints so strongly on his soul that he develops another act to his Bankai; one about leaning into those you trust, rather than using playboy tactics as a coping mechanism.
It seems the anime cut out scenes from the manga to make the Schutzstaffel deaths unambiguous. Pernida doesn't continuously regenerate and explode whilst Lille doesn't turn into his flamingo form even based on the leaks of episode 38.
I think the flamingo forms will be back for Cour 4. I really hope they come back if only because they're even more comically insane than Lille's second form.
28:13 I like the idea that Kubo hints at, making shadows inhabitable. I find the more intriguing question is how Nanao found Kyuraku in there and how she was able to enter on her own.
Hypothetically do you think Ichibei was so cool headed because he had last resorts such as potentially waiting to see who won the fight between Ichigo and co & Yhwach and then using the Cursed blade against Yhwach if he won to supplant him as the new Soul King
I feel the color change was potentially for the change in his personality during his second form. Maybe it’s a reach but I thought it would be cool twist.
I really like the scene with Ukitake. Not that it needed more reinforcement at this point, but it does a great job showcasing how much they trust each other. Shunsui seemed to be the only person with knowledge of the Kamikake/Mimihagi situation, and I think it's really precious to think that in return, he was probably the only one Shunsui trusted with the knowledge that he was the one safekeeping the Shinken Hakkyoken.
actually since Friend is just about to happen, it means its not yet night time. Kira vs. Lille is probably gonna be saved for like a cliffhanger for the cour 3 finale or saved for cour 4.
Gotta say I’m starting to develop some very wobbly theory about Lillebarro being the human form of a being that is Actually a dragon… I dunno why but since past 2 vids of talking about him in these episodes I keep thinking “man that is kinda like some Mediterranean Dragon which he probably gave a design like a Pokémon but it will tie into the Exact same dragon being revealed to be whichever marchen or whatever they called whichever dragons… but I’m just getting Not Hollow but Particularly Western Adventures of Yhwach Bach vibes seeing young ‘Almighty-wielding KūrōZángètsū’-a-lookin’ child of RéīÔ giving Such Power from his own blood to some Mediterranean Dragons as a Side Quest of his Licht Reich days 1000 years ago, but where they’re so Altered by Yhwach Bach… So is the day Kázüí somehow takes all the RéīÔ Almighty Returning leftovers into himself a sign that he will be the new Living RéīÔ until there’s some crazy stuff fighting Íchíbéī to save teen Kázüí in 15 years? I dunno man but I feel like he held back on trying to Bōlūtō his own big 3 series… But the new stuff in anime makes me more hyped for potential stuff after TYBW… I do know Kubo has a tendency to lean into vague mystery and the countless possibilities but there aren’t enough fan fics for me to remember people ever doing more than a few cool scenes which then other people would probably draw differently so that an AI can generate stuff with a scrambled consideration of wiki summary of lore and maybe just little pieces from a light novel… which… sometimes those kindsa vids were cool cause there were more stories or alternate versions of things OR Maybe all we saw for the ending was what Aîzèn’s Bánkaî wanted us to see?? …wouldn’t shock me but would definitely allow for considerable sorrow and maniacal laughter at how grand things are really getting in the prospective expanded cour 4 where We can only hope it’s more than 4 episodes… cause I can’t imagine how much amazing detail got cut from the forced rush removing 15 to 30 chapters of material which Probably would’ve made sense out of a lot of stuff we just never officially hear happened with details etc. I might even do the last 4 chapters as Aîzèn hypnotising Yhwach Bach & the audience whilst he’s got some confused Almighty visions… oh maybe that’s when he wakes up and does his auschwahlen on all the Quincy RéīÔ bits? That could be a wild movie Long start to cour 4 but it might be Aîzèn revealing too much…” Or something along those lines… But could this form be equivalent to the special group of dragons that the Cinderella dragon was from?? Feels like it’d make sense… Īchígō on translation job finding monsters he thinks are Quincy experiments could be hilarious if Wing Bind aren’t fully understood by him… The Kuboverse potentials are nearly immeasurable… but maybe he’d want a group doing it or he’d find a way to have more fun doing it or something? Whatever makes it so it isn’t a bother… but I wonder how competitive stuff may feel whist working as mangaka at shonen jump… Probably heavier than we normally imagine where we hope they’re all quirky coworkers with goofy fights over stuff where …dammit self stop writing a sitcom out of it… : D I just think thars some Dragon stuff goin on with that Final Form… unless this is the VollsternBankai of the super letz Stil??? That wouldn’t shock me either… but then it puts some Burn the Witch into “Directed by Aîzèn’s hypnotised RéīÔ-visions” narrative territory… Is it THAT wild? Reverse London IS a bit different than SSEB… Northern and Southern Branch must be vikings and secret Nazi alien stuff for Antarctica cause of conspiracy theory lore, right? I’d dig it if Kubo went wild with lore that gets the 6 paths stuff and relativity to the beings of different realms and powers usable there etc. it all seems like it can finish the worldbuilding being more than was allowed published or whatever… & it makes Jigoku inherently more interesting… & souls that have memory of travelling through the cycle potentially countless times… but that’s heavy stuff to throw in… but feels fitting with how souls/spirit is treated conceptually in the narrative with some things just left out to not broaden expectations when you’re doing a final arc… but now I’m just speculating on writing choices etc. with no idea how much was lost… But do we dig Yhwach taking a Mediterranean dragon whilst warring about which is also brainwashed in Quincy school??? : D
Just gotta add in… Do we expect Shūnsüí’s powers to be nerfed now that Kyökàtsū doesn’t contain the Shīnkèn Hākkyökèn??? Was this how the Shadow powers developed so strong? Or is this a Kyörākū family thing??? Then again zánpākūtō breeding is probably a question for nímaîÿà Ôètsū or Shūnsüí & ÔHánà I’d guess? I bet that game needed censoring… : D I actually wonder how many dirty fan art stories were written til they quit & went back to doing wild stuff with Matsumoto & Kūchīkí… probably both of them… I bet he’d develop a new Bánkaî technique for people messing with the image of his noble name… or something? But that’s require understanding of the story and drawing cool action scenes… not just redrawing a few scenes in anime filler like I imagine half the fan mangas end up made of… Okay I will actually check what the bleach fan fics are like though the number has multiplied since commonplace use of AI writing… & it makes so many of them a bummer where they almost did something cool… but that’s stuff I hardly remember reading… they never get to that Dragonball fanfic level, you know? I bet people get close trying and then creativity splits when the popularity & positive reception doesn’t feel ideally split… but now I’m basically writing a sad manga that ChatGPT could probably Almost write to satirise people trying to write mangas in particular ways if I learnt how to type the stuff elaborately enough playing with AI writing… but then I’d probably resent myself more than I normally do… But I shall see what kindsa fanfics are popular though I bet it’s mostly shorts around new additions to the lore whilst in the new anime’s time… But they could do a lot with the filler writers and light novel folks with the Ísé family drama, & so many other points in soul society’s history & Particularly the Licht Reich wars which I’d imagine is partially in the west where we can source Lillebarro which now has some Italian or Spanish or some such Mediterranean vibes which is how I lend on some dragon of light with ability to transform however & appear in multiple forms but probably got Gremmy’d by Yhwach or something along those lines… I wonder if Úryü could find a way to Antithesis-affect Yhwach so that he gives Him the Almighty or just completely Undoes all of His Majesty’s powers with the arrow plus Antithesis so he gets swapped with Rènjí if the death wasn’t a fake which Could explain how he returns to life… but I’d do that Before he gets the arrow just to be dramatic maybe halfway through last cour during a broken Bánkaî moment… Man cour 4 should be dramatic if we get the whole thing for those last 4 episodes somewhat! Super stoked to see what he’s been cookin up this past decade+!
I just think it's lame how Lile doesn't die from Shinji's bankai when his head was blown off, but does die when he is now only missing 1/3rd of his body... They give off the sense that the owl can easily reshape it's body, from sprouting a new head to disforming his head, but can't reshape a part of his body all of the sudden?? What happened to his seemingly infinite golden power?
the timeline is still weird. Child Nanao with a young adult Shunsui, then Nanao in the academy with Shinji as captain and Aizen already a lieutenant.. is Shunsui not atleast 300 +. Makes Nanao seem just as ancient
Minor request, can you increase the volume of the vids a teensy bit more. It's been quieter for the past few videos, which only becomes an issue when it's interrupted by a contrastingly super loud ad.
I think that shinken isn't as annoying here in the anime. Yes, the issues are the same but to me aren't as egregious. Maybe because I was enjoying it all so much so I was in a more forgiving mood? Possibly lol
many of the fans already know about the sword from some time so it doesnt feel like a way to kill lille fast as it was in the manga, and also the animations were something else
I find it funny that , even with 'soon' being ill defined, because the lifespan of a shinigami could reach well past 1000 years,we don't know how long Shunsui's brother was married before meeting his end,nor how long before he was given the blade to hide Maybe she didn't have access to the blade before her daughter was born,it having been secreted away and protected from being stolen, which adds to it being in the cloth to keep from being recognized as she was 'stealing' it, only being discovered years later when the blade was discovered missing when it was time for the ceremony again, shown through the execution
When Ohana told Shunsui that he should sleep and she’d get him to safety is she implying that she’s take over, very similar to how white would take over Ichigo?
I think Ohana would just use the shadow to take Shunsui away from the battlefield. White taking over Ichigo should be a very rare case for the Shinigami.
I honestly disagree. I feel the cour should have ended with a super Friend saga that's capped off with Haschwalth killing Bazz-B, Uryuu's betrayal beginning, and Isshin and Ryuuken's entrance.
Okay so, question to the wise: Nanao's mom wanted to give away the sword to protect her unborn child so... Spirits can actually have babies, then? I always thought families in Soul Society were built by adopting newly arrived souls, since people hardly ever find their families from the living world again after arriving in Soul Society.
The way this has been explained to me is that humans who die and spirits that can become shinigami are different species. A human who dies can't become a shinigami. They're born in Soul Society as a distinct race.
@@CelVini I agree, but I think this is the first and only time they mention a spirit being pregnant, that's why I had to ask. SPOILER: This also means Ichika might not be just a girl Renji wanted to adopt because of her hair color, which was a theory people had.
@@RCLchannel Did people really think that? Then they clearly weren't paying attention. Konpaku in Soul Society can clearly reproduce, and Kubo has now told us that Hollows can as well. The whole idea of found families only really applies to Rukongai and the very poor, as one should probably expect. In Seireitei, intact families seem more the norm, especially since we have ancient noble families.
@@vileluca I don't think that's remotely true. All the wholes/Pluses guided to SS come as they are, and some of them have latent potential to become Shinigami, often through high reiatsu or the existence of an inner world.
We just a whole episode about certain Rukongai God, scene about the desecration and mutilation of a 'God', and including the dynamics of the society in terms of economy and faith. @57:52 that image of Yhwach at the end, am I the only one confused. Why does he have eyebrows? His adult form never has eyebrows... it's such a little thing but it's bugging me...
KYORAKU i think has said before he was a 1 handed sword fighter i think (i am only a anime viewer, not seen the manga, so gonna have to go watch it myself now to check but when fighting stark he trys to fight 1 handed first, saying he was 1 handed before using both swords. was he trying to trick stark, or was he telling the truth but still used both in the end. that could be concided a connection to his zanpakuto birthing another maybe?
Maybe it's intentional between the green and gold in general. But maybe maybe the gold is specifically the Gods Light that gets blocked back at him, like whatever his nonsense is, the power manifested and upgraded from green to gold - went super saiyan - and that's our physical representation of what light that's specific to him that gets used against him.
I'd always read that scene with them on the roof as Katen saying it's ok to die too, and the way the anime portrayed it only solidified that thought to me
Explain Shunsui’s Shikai timeline: Does he initially start out with one blade at the academy, and after Ise blade is bestowed upon him the blade splits in two. Does Yama not notice the change? Or does the incantation release change? Assuming the longer releases were more intricate maybe it’s way more common for older Shinigami to have unique or partial commands like Yumichika’s peacock one. With Ukitake his dual swords would’ve been from the get go with Mimihagi being intwinned at 3 years. But the anime clearly shows a more adult Shunsui receiving the Ise blade. Idk maybe only Kubo would know. PS I didn’t like how Lille is supposed to be intangible and godlike I don’t think the anime/manga explains this well, it’s not like we see Sword slashes phase through there’s simply no fighting that occurs once Lille enters his Vollständig, and Shunsui’s bankai is to ethereal to be considered a physical type. I’d also argue that Shinken Hakkyoken only works on Lille because he feels he himself is a source of gods power, which is rare from any of bleach’s villains outside Aizen, and it would work on him anymore ever since Ichigo stat checked him back to reality.
I just happen to come across something that peaked my curiosity.... What if Shinken Hakkyōken was used in the soul kings dismemberment? I'm not a huge lore nerd but they mentioned in the back sotry that it was used in religious ceremonies.
I was hoping that there would have been a rewrite to how this fight ended. I agree with one of your older videos where there should have been hints or drops to this Deux ex machina zanpoktou. I also was discussing with my brother while watching it that, like you said, it would have been acceptable if Nanao had started the battle and Shunsui had finished it. It is a damn shame to have all these minor characters clean up the New Captain Commander's mess, as many of my peers tease me as I love Shunsui yet Kira out of nowhere arrives to clean up what the Captain Commander could not.
Literally all you said was trash and wrong there was no need for a rewrite because the fighy never was bad and there was hints about the outcome of this fight both you and mrtommo are wrong in that, and nanao starting the fight and kyoraku ending it wouldny make sense, please shut up
As someone who read the manga back in the day I was originally disappointed with the outcome of this battle. This was strictly due to the ineffectiveness of Kyoraku's Bankai. I have to say that i am 100% satisfied with it now. Perhaps age has granted me some wisdom. I mean Lille looks absolutely fantastic and his trumpet is visually spectacular and one of my favorite scenes in Cour 3. I must have rewound that scene at least a half dozen times on my first viewing. As far as Nanao's reaction to Lille it is totally believable. She literally just witnessed her hero / Captain get beaten close to death. Your insights and Bleach knowledge is unmatched and truly appreciated. Thank you for keeping me on my toes with your videos. Cheers!
I wonder if a new Lille flashbackfrom the same era as friends could accompany his fall to the Sereitei that then tee's up the flashbacks in friends itself
34:40 in the Anime she straight up says “The man I Love” so it was a bit off putting. My wife and I wondered why she would essentially be in love with her Uncle.
@@Ucey365 Yeah, that's the original scanlation I remember back in the day, but the official translation seems firmly to be "admire". Otherwise, it is quite gross. All I can say is that Shunsui probably never told Nanao that he's her uncle, especially since she seems to have not known who her father even was.
@@seraph_rj5700 I believe that, but I think it's possible for branch families to exist if say an Ise priestess had multiple children in one pregnancy or had multiple partners. Some of those kids who didn't inherit the curse or could bond with another asauchi could have married out of the family and created branch families that way.
I don't like that, if they show Kira that have to do his flashback on how he survive and I would be wonderful to get his fight with Shaz Domino too. I would love to see that flashback of the SternRitter too. Let wait and see then.
So Nanao chan is a near 1000 yo girl. Since Kyoraku is the second generation of Captains, his captaincy tenure has been very... quite sometime, very close to that 1000 year mark.
Maybe its just me, but the way the camera pans to show Lille looking at his own shadow as he complains about staring at sinners too long really drove home the idea of a fallen angel to me. Lille's complaint could be seen as his own light being too bright or him seeing his own shadow as a sinful reflection. He's clearly not self-aware enough as he slowly gives in to pride over his power. Accepting his status as a "god" suggests he thinks himself equal to or above Yhwach even if that isn't his intent. It reflects the story of Lucifer quite well. He then has that power he is so prideful of reversed on him and he literally falls from "heaven" down to the Seireitei.

What did you think of this week's episode of TYBW?
So three color avoid each other:
- Warhwelt is made dark with purple tone to differentiate between places.
It's hardly a stretch to believe his vision wasn't greatly enhanced, even if it got a bit choppy.
can you do an examination of shunsuis power now that he does have dual swords anymore
Nitpicking question: does this mean we don’t get an episode on 12/21?
@StefveoX no we're getting episode 38 on 21st and both 39 & 40 on 28th
yeah, and I have feeling the staff list for 39 & 40 is where they are going to put all their best people on and maybe even get some really talented freelancers to join in.
+ Cour 3 12th episode "Friend" confirmed to be longer than usual episodes, reaching over 26 minutes filled with new elements to the backstory for Bazz-B and Haschwalt.
For some of those new episodes, a part of me hopes we get what’s happening on the ground with the Lille remains, more Shinji and the Vizard, something to do with SoiFon, an Isshin + Uryu’s Father team up, more Tsukushima, and more
50:25 I absolutely loved that they added the sound of the trumpet when the attack was unleashed. It was beautiful
Yeah. Was kinda disappointing that the manga didn’t blast that sound when I read it.

17:09- prior to this episode, my head cannon would be that he’d retain the regular voice but it would be much hammier and melodramatic- creating a crazed zealot.
This episode gives the Tosen parallels even greater weight as their ultimate forms cause their usual baritone voices to go drastically up in pitch to give it a very surreal and unnatural tone- with the vocal tones giving an uncanny childishness that contrasts with his usual behavior but fits the manchild he is deep down
Kinda wish he was hammy and melodramagic tbh
Sorry for the wall of text
I like this thought
That is a pretty natural deduction, IMO, and I find it strange that Tommo hasn't changed his stance on this thanks to numerous comments stating this point on the Shinken Hakkyoken video. Then again, this video was probably recorded before that one was uploaded.
How are you gonna say he’s wrong and then say it’s your headcanon
@@ra_supreme9803 Because it's directly supported by canon in this case.

I just figured that she came up with a plan before giving birth, but couldn't enact it immediately.

i think the same
I thought Tommo meant the characters
Dude my jaw dropped when I saw trompete ut was beyond awesome
I think Askin summed up Lille perfectly. He is the leader of the schuttzstaffel, and his role as leader is absolute and unquestioned....meaning they all know his power and none would dare try to stand against him.
Gerard is the true leader and strongest of of all
@AncientChi: Gerard is a meat-head that's damned near-impossible to kill.

Renji's fight was a new anime exclusive scene. of course people would react to that. Most of us already knew how powerful lielle was
Honestly in retrospect, I am really ticked off that they didn’t add to pernidas fight, cause now we’ve SEEN his voltstandig and yet he didn’t use it ONCE in his only actual fight. Also nemu only using one attack is really lame as well, if she was gonna die then she should’ve used that soul shaving technique to the limit, sacrificing whole parts of her to do so.
Beautiful that nanao was hiding in the shadow when she fully realized

The idea of Kyoraku using his bankai and finding the quincies is so funny
The fact that people interpret that moment ad romance is weird to me because he’s, you know, HER UNCLE
She literally said my unborn child.
I like Lille's third form because it appears like a created being and not something naturally occurring.
At that point he did not look to be his mature self, what if at that point he wasn't captain level and during this grieving period used his zanpaktou to channel his emotions and made that vow to die with her to convince himself that Isuzu would be proud at least.
omfg Katen is Isuzu and Kyokotsu is Nanao BUT THE SHADOWS OF THEMSELVES AHH one hiding the curse away from the other
To add onto this theory - imagine if Nanao’s participation and agency imprints so strongly on his soul that he develops another act to his Bankai; one about leaning into those you trust, rather than using playboy tactics as a coping mechanism.
If KYORAKU did pass on, I wonder who would get the new Head Captain role? 😁
excellent review anime is literally making the manga better
Seems you're still monetised. It appears you're still doing things right after all.
Thank you!
The Flamingo Forms are important for Zombie Kira’s Reappearance
28:13 I like the idea that Kubo hints at, making shadows inhabitable. I find the more intriguing question is how Nanao found Kyuraku in there and how she was able to enter on her own.
Are we forgetting (as far as I can tell) Hinamori getting excited in the background that she got selected into Aizen's squad 😁
@@borkomartinovic3467 I don't think that's Hinamori, since we don't see Kira or Renji anywhere.
@MrGksarathy yeah that's why I said as far as I can tell, cuz I'm not sure myself
23:34 yes same here and even in your original chapter review you said the same thing! How morbid this scene was when you think about it.
The animation in this episode was beautiful as always
Before i forget
What if Nnoitra survived?
He’ll come back in The Future Hell Arc, to troll Kenpachi & Nel I guarantee it
I really like the scene with Ukitake.
Nanao's mother being named Isuzu, after a river that begins and ends in Ise is so beautifully dark, her fate was written in her very name itself.
Gotta say I’m starting to develop some very wobbly theory about Lillebarro being the human form of a being that is Actually a dragon…
I dunno why but since past 2 vids of talking about him in these episodes I keep thinking “man that is kinda like some Mediterranean Dragon which he probably gave a design like a Pokémon but it will tie into the Exact same dragon being revealed to be whichever marchen or whatever they called whichever dragons… but I’m just getting Not Hollow but Particularly Western Adventures of Yhwach Bach vibes seeing young ‘Almighty-wielding KūrōZángètsū’-a-lookin’ child of RéīÔ giving Such Power from his own blood to some Mediterranean Dragons as a Side Quest of his Licht Reich days 1000 years ago, but where they’re so Altered by Yhwach Bach… So is the day Kázüí somehow takes all the RéīÔ Almighty Returning leftovers into himself a sign that he will be the new Living RéīÔ until there’s some crazy stuff fighting Íchíbéī to save teen Kázüí in 15 years? I dunno man but I feel like he held back on trying to Bōlūtō his own big 3 series…
But the new stuff in anime makes me more hyped for potential stuff after TYBW… I do know Kubo has a tendency to lean into vague mystery and the countless possibilities but there aren’t enough fan fics for me to remember people ever doing more than a few cool scenes which then other people would probably draw differently so that an AI can generate stuff with a scrambled consideration of wiki summary of lore and maybe just little pieces from a light novel… which… sometimes those kindsa vids were cool cause there were more stories or alternate versions of things OR Maybe all we saw for the ending was what Aîzèn’s Bánkaî wanted us to see??
That could be a wild movie Long start to cour 4 but it might be Aîzèn revealing too much…”
Or something along those lines…
But could this form be equivalent to the special group of dragons that the Cinderella dragon was from?? Feels like it’d make sense…
Īchígō on translation job finding monsters he thinks are Quincy experiments could be hilarious if Wing Bind aren’t fully understood by him…
The Kuboverse potentials are nearly immeasurable… but maybe he’d want a group doing it or he’d find a way to have more fun doing it or something? Whatever makes it so it isn’t a bother… but I wonder how competitive stuff may feel whist working as mangaka at shonen jump… Probably heavier than we normally imagine where we hope they’re all quirky coworkers with goofy fights over stuff where …dammit self stop writing a sitcom out of it… : D
I just think thars some Dragon stuff goin on with that Final Form… unless this is the VollsternBankai of the super letz Stil???
That wouldn’t shock me either… but then it puts some Burn the Witch into “Directed by Aîzèn’s hypnotised RéīÔ-visions” narrative territory… Is it THAT wild? Reverse London IS a bit different than SSEB… Northern and Southern Branch must be vikings and secret Nazi alien stuff for Antarctica cause of conspiracy theory lore, right?
I’d dig it if Kubo went wild with lore that gets the 6 paths stuff and relativity to the beings of different realms and powers usable there etc. it all seems like it can finish the worldbuilding being more than was allowed published or whatever…
& it makes Jigoku inherently more interesting… & souls that have memory of travelling through the cycle potentially countless times… but that’s heavy stuff to throw in… but feels fitting with how souls/spirit is treated conceptually in the narrative with some things just left out to not broaden expectations when you’re doing a final arc… but now I’m just speculating on writing choices etc. with no idea how much was lost…
But do we dig Yhwach taking a Mediterranean dragon whilst warring about which is also brainwashed in Quincy school???
I bet that game needed censoring… : D
I actually wonder how many dirty fan art stories were written til they quit & went back to doing wild stuff with Matsumoto & Kūchīkí… probably both of them… I bet he’d develop a new Bánkaî technique for people messing with the image of his noble name… or something?
But that’s require understanding of the story and drawing cool action scenes… not just redrawing a few scenes in anime filler like I imagine half the fan mangas end up made of…
Okay I will actually check what the bleach fan fics are like though the number has multiplied since commonplace use of AI writing… & it makes so many of them a bummer where they almost did something cool… but that’s stuff I hardly remember reading… they never get to that Dragonball fanfic level, you know?
I bet people get close trying and then creativity splits when the popularity & positive reception doesn’t feel ideally split… but now I’m basically writing a sad manga that ChatGPT could probably Almost write to satirise people trying to write mangas in particular ways if I learnt how to type the stuff elaborately enough playing with AI writing… but then I’d probably resent myself more than I normally do…
But I shall see what kindsa fanfics are popular though I bet it’s mostly shorts around new additions to the lore whilst in the new anime’s time…
But they could do a lot with the filler writers and light novel folks with the Ísé family drama, & so many other points in soul society’s history & Particularly the Licht Reich wars which I’d imagine is partially in the west where we can source Lillebarro which now has some Italian or Spanish or some such Mediterranean vibes which is how I lend on some dragon of light with ability to transform however & appear in multiple forms but probably got Gremmy’d by Yhwach or something along those lines…
I wonder if Úryü could find a way to Antithesis-affect Yhwach so that he gives Him the Almighty or just completely Undoes all of His Majesty’s powers with the arrow plus Antithesis so he gets swapped with Rènjí if the death wasn’t a fake which Could explain how he returns to life… but I’d do that Before he gets the arrow just to be dramatic maybe halfway through last cour during a broken Bánkaî moment…
Man cour 4 should be dramatic if we get the whole thing for those last 4 episodes somewhat!
Super stoked to see what he’s been cookin up this past decade+!
I get so excited seeing this popup first when I open my app
Love how Senjumaru's bankai showed his power being reflected back at him, nice foreshadowing
The crescent moon shape of the city after the trumpet attack looks like the moon behind Kira with the bar going through it.
I find it funny that , even with 'soon' being ill defined, because the lifespan of a shinigami could reach well past 1000 years,we don't know how long Shunsui's brother was married before meeting his end,nor how long before he was given the blade to hide
Maybe she didn't have access to the blade before her daughter was born,it having been secreted away and protected from being stolen, which adds to it being in the cloth to keep from being recognized as she was 'stealing' it, only being discovered years later when the blade was discovered missing when it was time for the ceremony again, shown through the execution
When Ohana told Shunsui that he should sleep and she’d get him to safety is she implying that she’s take over, very similar to how white would take over Ichigo?
I think Ohana would just use the shadow to take Shunsui away from the battlefield. White taking over Ichigo should be a very rare case for the Shinigami.
white is a very different case
I'm so glad I was right about the season not ending on Friend. Would've been weak as hell.
Byakuya and any other noble should be proof enough that Soul Reapers can give birth
@@CelVini I agree, but I think this is the first and only time they mention a spirit being pregnant, that's why I had to ask.
SPOILER:
This also means Ichika might not be just a girl Renji wanted to adopt because of her hair color, which was a theory people had.
So yeah, were still gonna be salty about this random sword that maybe is associated and could have been used with that God
This is unrelated, sorry for that. Are you still active on your MrTommoTalksGames channel? Recently watched your amazing Bloodborne video and would LOVE to watch more on other games! Cough "Elden Ring" Cough... 😂
I wanna see him review Lies of P
I wouldn't say that Nanao was kept away from combat. She probably just only used Kido in combat.
Yeah, she's a perpetual backliner.
Thinking about this form now I wonder if it is related to dragons from," Burn the Witch."
@57:52 that image of Yhwach at the end, am I the only one confused. Why does he have eyebrows? His adult form never has eyebrows... it's such a little thing but it's bugging me...
Best fight so far, I really enjoyed it.
Excellent episode! though I always wondered if Yhwach told Lille he has a second form or if he figured it out.
Lllle looks like a seraphim
I'd always read that scene with them on the roof as Katen saying it's ok to die too, and the way the anime portrayed it only solidified that thought to me
Explain Shunsui’s Shikai timeline:
Does he initially start out with one blade at the academy, and after Ise blade is bestowed upon him the blade splits in two.
Been waiting for this to drop. Watched the first reaction a couple of times in waiting lol
I just happen to come across something that peaked my curiosity....
What if Shinken Hakkyōken was used in the soul kings dismemberment? I'm not a huge lore nerd but they mentioned in the back sotry that it was used in religious ceremonies.
Shinkenhakyoken, It had to be used in the past.... Did it kill the other gods?
I'm curious if Yhwach knows about the second form, much like how it's said from Ulquiorra that Aizen didn't know about the second resurrection
Literally all you said was trash and wrong there was no need for a rewrite because the fighy never was bad and there was hints about the outcome of this fight both you and mrtommo are wrong in that, and nanao starting the fight and kyoraku ending it wouldny make sense, please shut up
lille's reiatsu left overs arent as strong as lille
40:59 they have to be Kyoraku’s parents. There are no old men in the Ise Clan, they’re matrilineal and the men die young deaths.
Did the video title change or am I tripping?
"It's timeeeee 🎶"
I don't like that, if they show Kira that have to do his flashback on how he survive and I would be wonderful to get his fight with Shaz Domino too. I would love to see that flashback of the SternRitter too. Let wait and see then.
You mentioned oldman looking like Shunsui but forgot that old lady is almost identical to woman from Ukitakes flashback
So Nanao chan is a near 1000 yo girl. Since Kyoraku is the second generation of Captains, his captaincy tenure has been very... quite sometime, very close to that 1000 year mark.
I always thought Kyouraku was around 800-900 years old, so Nanao might be 600-700 years old.
