I think another serious talk about monetisation is imminent. They reduced cod points in the battle pass so you now just break even if you finish it while you could gain 300 codpoints in previous years. They've reintroduced gambling in their gobblegum packs and stolen our ability to gain schematics like in MW3 zombs. Blackwell seems insane to me, I don't get why anyone would buy that but hey that happens with all battlepasses. Just feels like they're dropping the value for us for no good reason. I refuse to believe cod doesn't make enough money as it was for the past 4 years.
Seeing so many people in game with the Blackcell clan tag/skins makes me sad. I genuinely can't believe so many people so easily shill out this much money for a premium battle pass. It sucks. Edit: If you are mad at me for saying this, you're the exact type of sucker throwing money at Activision that are ruining the game in the first place. Spending $180 on top of a $70 game isn't a flex you should be proud of.
Many of them probably bought the Vault edition for the additional skins to begin with. Maybe there are less people buying the Blackcell in the later seasons in the previous games, so they have come up with this loyalty XP bonus.
I hope the new battlefield is great. We need another good fps game to put cod in check. Gamers want the memories of an enjoyable game. Not a company monetizing everything to reach in your pockets; especially with the crap economy we have here in the US and probably in other parts of the world.
That’s great to hear. Should help Activision’s profit margins immensely I hope. Only $180 for some extra XP in a video game that’ll be dead in one year. Now that’s a deal you can’t refuse

The way I see it, I think its for people who don't get much play time. I work 10-12 hours days during weekdays I get home and I might play for an hour very rarely more than that. On the weekends I do grind a bit more than average, but at the end of the day, my nephew who's literally half my age has all the time in the world puts in many many many more hours than me into the game and not just call of duty but a lot more games than me and I can't ever catch up to him. This exp bonus is great for us older folks with less time to play but still wanna level up.
Every weapon skin in the store is also pay to win btw if yall dont believe me just try em out. They dont tell you those skins do more damage but we all know they do. Your welcome
Its pay to level up now, it’ll be pay to win later. They’re slowly normalizing the P2W strategy that by the time they actually go full blown P2W, the zombified player base wouldn’t even realize it. I wouldn’t be surprised if they locked a broken 1-2 shot recoilless weapon behind a bundle in future COD titles or maybe even in BO6’s mid cycle if idiots keep biting into bait
I bought the (normal) battle pass this season but honestly no idea why. I honestly have never cared less about battle pass unlocks. IMO most of the decent looking skins come in bundles so the BP just gives you a bunch of mediocre cosmetics.
It makes me wonder why they even bothered returning to a traditional leveling and prestige format for this game if they were just going to sell XP via collaborations and battle passes and essentially sell permanent unlocks through blueprints in the cash shop, it defeats the purpose of these systems.
The whole traditional prestige system is why people are willing to pay for double XP in the first place, because it makes a tangible difference. Nobody would do this for the seasonal prestige alone
@@incompetencelogistics8924 I disagree, the last few titles have had people buying up various beverages depending on your region for XP codes attached. @@MrGetsLaidALOT I think the xp was already monetisable, otherwise they wouldn't have switched to a seasonal model in the first place and kept it how it always was, they thought they could maintain more users regularly by time gating the progression but their main issue was the abundance of tokens you could acquire without paying as well as countless double exp weekends combined with the fact tiny map playlists like Shipment 24/7 were readily available.

I honestly dont care if they can pay for XP. I prestige because my simple brain likes unlocking things and the feeling of progression. If someone else instead just wants the rank icon to display and does not enjoy the grind then so be it. I cant even remember the last time I noticed the prestige level of someone else in a lobby.
Pretty much how I feel. I enjoy the classic prestige/progression system so happy it's back and get simple enjoyment in unlocking more stuff while playing over the coming months. I do think it's a slippery slope though and the more people keep lining their pockets the more things they'll be tempted to restrict and mess around with.
I just want to enjoy the solid gameplay of this game without all the bullshit. Yesterday I was getting shot by what appeared to be lightening bolts. WTF? Why do we, the consumers, enable this garbage by feeding the beast? This 'Pay for XP boosts" just adds to that and is gross and grimy AF.
I don't have much of a problem with it with how it comes out now. The only issue for me would be during the 10 prestiges where people are unlocking items quicker. But I think by the time you get to about 30% exp bonus, anyone buying the blackcell that consistently would already be maxed prestige and all it is effecting is the grind to level 1000.
If they really want us to buy the blackcell BP then they need to kill the black and gold theme because that shit is almost always ugly and 9/10 times the base skins look cooler, also make sure the weapon skins look good with dark matter because for me that is the deciding factor tbh
Nice! I miss the M16 from the original black ops. It was a 1 burst in HC and id suspect it will be again. Edit: on a related note, if we could get jungle and Hanoi and firing range.... that would be super.
What scares me is that with this precedent being set future games could have progression created with the xp bonuses in mind, making it that much more unfair for those who don't dish out the money
For me, I don’t like how they have added this ‘time pressure’ where you have to buy the black cell now or you won’t ever be able to get the 50% boost at the end. Feels like it’s a now or never type deal which will no doubt pressure people into impulse buying it…
The boost was 30% for playing with 4 or more in a party last year(MWIII). I think PS got a small buff on top of that, and I’m unsure if the skin bonus xp stacked as well. Like, the fluffball skins, don’t remember their names, or the serial killer skins. IMO, I had the same thought as you. By S6, anyone who’s regularly playing is probably 90% chance gonna be master prestige already. I’m prestige 6 as of 2 days ago, I’ll probably be prestige master before Christmas. Levels don’t really matter after you him PM anyway.
It's not about one gets a higher level quicker than than another, it's that XP is going to be sluggish and the bonus you might get for throwing money at the game will barely put you in like with how it should be by default.
I know people love to hate on anything that's pay to get an advantage. In this case, I couldn't care less. If someone loves the game wants to buy 6 × $30 battle passes, which is essentially buying the game 3 times over, give them the XP advantage. It doesn't wreck the experience for everyone else as there is no performance advantage and gives the person spending money more value.
Worst case scenario with the discrepancy of XP rate is that rather than speeding up people who throw money at it they slow down people who don't like a phone game or something or lots of other games nowadays, to the point where getting the guns you want and the attachments you want regardless of the prestige system becomes an unreasonable grind where now it is basically neglitable for someone who's going to play the game regularly anyway
the blackcell skins and stuff are so embarassingly corny. the cosmetics in this game are so cringe and to know a non-zero amount of people payed extra dollars to get middleschooler-core black and orange skins and extra whale bait is discouraging to say the least, especially now that they are starting to add non-cosmetic features beykind skipping Battle Pass tiers
I get all of Ace’s points but this prestige system is very easily manipulated. You can just go AFK in zombies with exploits and rank up like crazy or get a bunch of tokens so it’s more of a symbolic thing
Has anybody else had an issue with FFA scoreboards? Almost every single rime that you finish first, second or third it puts you one place lower on the scoreboard.
Thanks for the breakdown! Could you help me with something unrelated: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). What's the best way to send them to Binance?
Paying more money to have less reason to play a game just seems so crazy to me. I get that it’s an add on to skins and such, but that doesn’t seem like a “perk” to spending more money to theoretically have less game. Hope about exclusive clan tags, emblems, weapon skins, early access to game modes or maps (like a closed test environment)
People paying for skins and xp doesnt affect my experience in the game, until they start shooting disorienting laser beams and over animated death effects of teamates that distract you. The spray cans cartoony death effect with the mini explosion is on another level.
Wait so what happens after the next cod comes out? Do they stop support for bo6? If a season is like 3 months-90 days each, are we only getting 4 seasons of support? I really hope it would be more than a year of support
Can we all just go back to playing Blackout? We had fun. No complaints. And mayhe redo BO2 for multi-player. Package it up with a couple new Blackout maps and weapons, and everyone would be there.
Black cell loyalty boost is way worse than I thought but now the name makes sense, it’s a nice boost for the loyal diehards. People that are mad about this need help, because you know they’re mad because they really want it and now give them more money. Anyone with a brain knows this is absolutely not a pay to win or a must buy feature, there is already xp tokens in the pass and for me with no purchases, this game is supposed to last a year and I’ve already prestiged and finished a couple weopon camos without upgrading the gun all the way which means I’m glad I’ll be able to come back to it and complete it after the fast Camo grind. Progression is fine as is, ESPECIALLY with legacy tokens
I would like an emblem or symbol somewhere showing how many blackcells a player has purchased. Would be nice when there are 2 or more level 1000s in a lobby you can see who has or hasn’t had an xp boost to help them get there.
This is the beginning of the end. They took classic prestiges away and replaced them with prestiges that meant nothing. Now they brought back classic prestige just to make them mean nothing.
Nobody should really be surprised. Greed in the gaming industry is abundant. Literally every triple A company is making moves like this. It’s sad gaming is just not what it used to be
Although I'm not a fan of Blackcell or any in game purchases, I do like the idea of an XP bonus, as I don't have as much time to put into the game as I used to, and I need to keep up with my friends or risk their ridicule. I might get Blackcell because of this.
honestly, i think they were already doing this by giving 2xp tokens in the stuff you get in the store. this is just another way for them to add value to the paid stuff so they get more revenue without more work.
I’ve just come back to COD (last one I played was MW19) I didn’t realise you had to rebuy BlackCell every season, that’s nuts. I saw it at £30 and thought it was a bit expensive for a battle pass that only gives a few extra skins a season. But I thought if it’s for every season I guess it adds up. I cannot believe it doesn’t transfer over.
@@benhayes5396 I only bought one battlepass MW3 when I started playing it when it came to Game Pass. And then I saved those cod points. But I bought one bundle (replacer) because everyone says that you get easier lobbies. It didn't work and I got scammed

I know what they’re doing isn’t necessarily okay, but it’s surprising to me that some people don’t understand how others can put so much money into one game. People put $100s into mobile games, spend $1000 every year for a new phone, buy packs of cigs for $11 each day, buy endless cases of beer weekly, buy $40 pens that last two days, yet don’t understand why someone would spend $30 dollars on a black cell each season that gives you tracers and skins worth more than the black cell itself. Not everyone has the same vices. If it bothers you, don’t buy it!
Honestly dont understand why more people dont get the black cell, you pretty much get the value of the 20$ battlepass and they give you 10 in game codpoints plus all the bonus skins from events and the battlepass. Just seems like a no brainer at this point to me
Personally I don’t care about it too much, but I dislike how it signals the direction and how far Activision is willing to go in the pursuit of extracting more money from each player. You can easily see how they can push these seasonal passes further, even BO6 there are so few free gun customisations and the levelling up system for BP is slow, even if they make it only 10% slower you can see how they do a ‘death by 1000 cuts’ situation where it becomes almost mandatory to pay more to skip levels on BP or guns
Honestly if you played every single season this bonus won't get you that much more, I think we should do the numbers but I'm prestige 8 now, in a year if I keep this pace the 20 to 30 % medium XP bonus won't change the fact that I'll be in the master prestige hundreds, maybe 100 more but I don't think it's too much
I don't care either way about the XP, if people want to throw their money at that, it's their money. I won't be. I do enjoy the holiday stuff, and I'm glad to see they are doing something. I still remember MW2 where they just added a few bowties and some snowflakes to Shipment, and offered a Santa skin and that was it for the Holidays stuff, that was lame. Vanguard the year before was awesome with Shipment being made out of presents and Krampus running around, and snowball fights! So what they are doing this year doesn't look bad at all. I enjoy both game modes so I'll be playing them.
The fact that it's called Loyalty is what's really fucked up about it. That isn't loyalty you're just paying to get more rewards. Splatoon 3 had a fun version of this where if you had save data from Splatoon 2 the in game characters remarked in it & gave you bonuses to unlock gear earlier.
I called this when it was announced that bo6 would be free for certain player, that Activision would find a way to get that money back. Actively nerf xp rates in game then sell you a better way to get xp... sooner rather than later they'll change earn rates for scorestreaks if you have blackcell skins for certain scorestreaks i.e if you have a normal uav you get +5 but blackcell owners get +50... f this system based off of greed, we deserve better.

Early MW2019 there were so many great cosmetic items to grind for. And now 90% of cosmetic items (skins, characters, stickers, charms) are locked behind bundles.
Imagine buying in every Season and than the xp don't increase because it's bugt
i hope they do that because i'm petty and anna see the suckers that bought it cope and mald
You should imagine learning how to spell.
The worst part about black cell is how bad the cosmetics look.
For real... Bought the first blackcell because the skins were actually good and it seemed like the pass was actually meant to revolve around it. Now we get "flaming" Jojo Siwa
I mean treyarch normally has the worst looking characters out of the three with few exceptions.
Game is a mess and they want fools to part with more money, clearly shows where their priorities lie
Because these idiots REWARD THEM.
ALOT of fools buy this crap every season.. hook, line, and sinker it's crazy to me that people even buy Black cell trash..
They could at least inject some of the $ into the game(severs) from these half wits buying Black cell.
People who pay for content keep the brand alive and pay for everything else you take advantage of. Stop crying for god’s sake. If you don’t like it, don’t spend money on it. It’s not a difficult concept. If you have the extra coin, and like what you see, go ahead and buy it and support the company.
@ support the company lmao its greed, game is plagued with cheats, EOMM and strict sbmm but you are ok with this? Keep sucking the Activision cock. You are part of the problem. Keep playing your rigged game
@@teepee2531 You're kidding right? People aren't buying the bundles to show support for Activision and Treyarch. They're doing it because they want the items but have no idea or care to how consumerism and businesses work. The worst kinds of people are those who buy several bundles and feel the need to complain about the microtransactions in this game.
50% for a whole season after spending a small fortune on Blackcell, some COD players really are special!
as a solo player i actually love this. last year was ass for xp if you didn't wanna play with friends. you didn't get bonuses unless you had a 3 stack or higher.
6:30 “if someone wants a master prestige lvl 1000 it means they put the time and effort” bruh they better put in effort because they gave up their social life and ability to touch grass just to reach lvl 1000. Then when the next cod comes all of the grind was meaningless
Its not meaningless if it means something to you personally. I finished the damascus grind in mw2019 and im still proud of that. Took like 8-9 months of quarantine to do it 😂

They're doing this because next year will be BO2's remake maps as DLC (like MW2023). They'll make you regret not getting that XP boost.
I would say the two boxing and cheating is more concerning… especially the fact the game intentionally screws you when you’re playing well that’s more concerning to me than XP
Yeah its there money and they spend it how they want
@@habijjjand that’s why those same people including you end up broke asf
brother is sad at pixels that other people own 😭
Many of them probably bought the Vault edition for the additional skins to begin with. Maybe there are less people buying the Blackcell in the later seasons in the previous games, so they have come up with this loyalty XP bonus.
Get a job bro
I hope the new battlefield is great. We need another good fps game to put cod in check. Gamers want the memories of an enjoyable game. Not a company monetizing everything to reach in your pockets; especially with the crap economy we have here in the US and probably in other parts of the world.
Agreed. Heated competition encourages actually good game mechanics.
This is why I was rooting so hard for Xdefiant to carve a piece of the pie but battlefield would work to.
Xdefiant did that and it failed. CoD fans are too far gone. Even when given a proper alternative they’ll just go back to their slop.
Battlefield is not and has never been competition for COD; they're fundamentally juxtaposed experiences.
lol wasn’t xdefiant supposed to put “cod in check”
That’s great to hear. Should help Activision’s profit margins immensely I hope. Only $180 for some extra XP in a video game that’ll be dead in one year. Now that’s a deal you can’t refuse
INFINITE GROWTH
This isn’t just CoD, but I swear every business in existence wants to make more money than the previous year. They’ll find insane ways to squeeze every cent out of their consumers.
It takes me 1hr to find a game thanks to the AI match algorithm.
I'll sometimes skip the battle pass but I got it for the blueprints so I can have more stuff unlocked after each prestige.
They only give you back 1100 CoD points, too. It used to be 1300...
Honestly man. I got it free with the vault edition and I still feel robbed.
The traditional systems returning was a major selling point and considerable factor for many people's decisions whether or not to purchase this years game and they've somewhat changed it after the point of sale.
@@Kei-vs6ryI think your perspective has to be shifted to what is better for the SHAREHOLDERS and NOT the consumers. In the eyes of Activision shareholders, returning to traditional prestige 1. (Main reason) Creates a system where XP is actually valuable, thus can be monetized, boosting profits by idiot consumers who go out of their way to purchase 2XP tokens and buy Battle Pass and Blackcell. 2. Gives the better optics of having it seem like its a pro-consumer decision by marketing the decision as a “return to form”. It makes consumers feel like they’re being listened to, when actually its just a strategy to increase revenue while also making it seem like they have their consumers in mind. Its genius, in a psychotic way.
Ah we’re getting a bo4 map, I’d be hyped to play that, all these other maps suck honestly so something that’s more in line with what we’re use to in the past works for me.

Love the concept for the high roller wild card I’ve always wanted there to be a perk or something that lets us run 4 streaks
I feel like streaks are kind of weak in this game on alot of maps, including the higher end ones. Plus, I feel trapped using perk greed wildcard, all the good perks in tier 1.
@ you’re right, streaks really haven’t been good since bo4 feels like the lethal ones keep getting weaker and the nonlethals get more expensive every year
4 streaks seem kinda pointless when half of them are awful and it takes like 6 kills just to get a uav

I don’t think it matters. I’ve seen folks who are master prestige already and they aren’t that good. So they found a way to boost there anyway.
How long do you think until we can just purchase prestige levels directly?
I just want to enjoy the solid gameplay of this game without all the bullshit. Yesterday I was getting shot by what appeared to be lightening bolts. WTF? Why do we, the consumers, enable this garbage by feeding the beast? This 'Pay for XP boosts" just adds to that and is gross and grimy AF.
Yeah I saw that too. I didn't see anything else when I was shot with it. This shit is ridiculous and clearly made for children
If they really want us to buy the blackcell BP then they need to kill the black and gold theme because that shit is almost always ugly and 9/10 times the base skins look cooler, also make sure the weapon skins look good with dark matter because for me that is the deciding factor tbh
as soon as i saw it in the blogpost... i knew there will be drama xD
Nice! I miss the M16 from the original black ops. It was a 1 burst in HC and id suspect it will be again.
Edit: on a related note, if we could get jungle and Hanoi and firing range.... that would be super.
im already done with the battle pass and I have a full time job so I really got no life outside of work
What scares me is that with this precedent being set future games could have progression created with the xp bonuses in mind, making it that much more unfair for those who don't dish out the money
They literally made a problem, and proceeded to sell you the solution
I bought the game..thats enough. I dont pay extra for ANYTHING especially on COD
I get all of Ace’s points but this prestige system is very easily manipulated. You can just go AFK in zombies with exploits and rank up like crazy or get a bunch of tokens so it’s more of a symbolic thing
Will the double xp include SR also ?
The game being basically free to play i can see why the option is there for the xp boost. I only buy battlepass when i can get my tokens back
Being a full time dad, husband and corporate worker I’m all for the xp boosts
Any news on possible free access weekend?
Im not sure what I'm more surprised. The xp boost from blackcell or the fact you can shoot the button to open the door
Well, after they implemented hidden easier matchmaking after buying stuff from the store, nothing surprises me anymore
honestly, i think they were already doing this by giving 2xp tokens in the stuff you get in the store. this is just another way for them to add value to the paid stuff so they get more revenue without more work.
I’ve just come back to COD (last one I played was MW19)
I didn’t realise you had to rebuy BlackCell every season, that’s nuts.
I saw it at £30 and thought it was a bit expensive for a battle pass that only gives a few extra skins a season. But I thought if it’s for every season I guess it adds up.
I cannot believe it doesn’t transfer over.
You were scammed 😅
@ mate I didn’t buy it, I still thought it was not worth it, but I’m now genuinely shocked anyone buys it
@@benhayes5396 I only bought one battlepass MW3 when I started playing it when it came to Game Pass. And then I saved those cod points. But I bought one bundle (replacer) because everyone says that you get easier lobbies. It didn't work and I got scammed
I’m pretty fed up with the whole grind at this point. Just gonna play and not buy anything until it changes or I move on. I used to buy skins etc but even they are fortnight like or ugly. I’ll keep my $$$$
I know what they’re doing isn’t necessarily okay, but it’s surprising to me that some people don’t understand how others can put so much money into one game.
This new wildcard reinforces my wish that scorestreaks be assigned per custom class.
Advanced warfare did that and I used to love it, I hope we see it this year
Prestige 9 level 1 at this moment working 40 hours a week. Almost finished with dark spine, I don’t see why this battle pass thing is such a big deal
That XP is 100% testing the water for full-on pay-to-win mechanics. They'll start paywalling weapons and allowing day 1 XP boosts for $.
@@hrhhrhrh well treyarch did start the pay for weapons lol.
Yourr acting Asif these people don't already pay money for 2x xp codes from 3rd party items
Honestly if you played every single season this bonus won't get you that much more, I think we should do the numbers but I'm prestige 8 now, in a year if I keep this pace the 20 to 30 % medium XP bonus won't change the fact that I'll be in the master prestige hundreds, maybe 100 more but I don't think it's too much
180? Damn
Loyalty to shareholders, not the game.
