    So this is where Kojima got the idea of sending two F-16's from Galena to Shadow Moses Island as a diversionary operation in Metal Gear Solid. The guy did watch indeed a lot of movies when he was a kid...

    you know I just realized something, in the real military, a spinning red light would mean that there were uncleared personnel in the room and all classified material needs to be put away...

    Take a closer look. Those F 16 fighter bombers are actually F 15 interceptors. What the hell though, he still sounds cool.

    Amazing & unreal as this sounds that technology featured in that vast spacious room was probably at least 10 years old during the filming of this movie, perhaps these products of mid 70s advancements in computer & satellite technology. Think on that!
    At least 45 years old, all that hardware, software & satellite beamed map readouts, that's how much such technological advancements & innovations quantum leaped back between the late 60s till the late 70s, just astonishing, staggering, unprecedented, mind bending & unmatched in its transcendence, all those cutting edge technological & technical developments! For technologically speaking, the 5 decades that followed WW2 were the most breakneck & astoundingly progressive in all of human history, within the Western & Soviet context (in terms of rocket engineering & propulsion power the Soviets, from the mid 50s till the mid 60s, had an edge, though in most other fields of trailblazing technological advancements the USA was the leader, with credit going to those 2 separate groups of German rocket scientists who laid the technical & engineering groundwork for others to build upon & then take to another, much higher level, technically & literally!).
    Also, there were people at home who were between the ages of 90-107 who were watching this movie on a color TV on cable back in late 1983, people who were still lucid, clear minded & very cognizant, more than likely blown away & utterly mesmerized by what they were watching on their up to date, top notch quality televisions, all while reflecting back on the good ol' halcyon days of the 1880s, 1890s & the turn of the century, & how far, far simpler, far more basic & infinitely less insanely intricate, complex & hi-tech that things were
    (before electricity, indoor plumbing, telephones, automobiles, airplanes, refrigeration, rudimentary home appliances that require electricity, all of that!). Think on that!

      I'd say that the equipment used in the control room was up to date at the time of filming.
      When the Pentagon got wind of this movie, they purportedly installed bigger screens at the real NORAD center.
      If you look up photos of NORAD at that time, they had no vast stage-like control room and their screens were not as impressive in size.

    He plays Ed in Anger Management (Charlie Sheen's new comedy on FX)......
    He looks totally different here - 43 years old......obviously he's 73 now in Anger Management
    Remember KITT from Knight Rider - the voice actor who played the talking car has been in a few things since Kightand it's weird to see him talking / in person....
    Also - Big Bang Theory - Howard's mother.....She's in "Til Death" - on one episode....
    IMDB is amazing for this kind of thing...you never get to see her in Big Bang

      An F 15C is a classic interceptor built to battle the MiG 25, which after a defector flew one to Japan, was hype. Speed Mach 2.5, APG 70 pulse Doppler radar, Sparrow Sidewinder and AMRAAM missiles. Never mind the Vulcan cannon. A lot of F4 Phantom pilots regretted not having one. You can't develop countermeasures against explosive rounds.

    • @chrismarshva
      @chrismarshva 5 років тому

      The F15E is slightly different. Two pilots not one, longer, painted darker, also carries ground attack munitions, say against Scud launchers.
      But the F111 is also able to plink artillery or armored vehicles. A laser guided GBU 28 is very versatile.
      A Wings special compared the F117 to the F111. Nighthawks carry two precision bombs, Aardvarks four, and travel in a formation of four, the difference between a bridge going totally down or not.
      But the B2 stealth bomber carries far more bombs, and the F22 Raptor can escort it invisibly and safely. Also relatively invisible, the F35, whether conventional long take off and landing, carrier based, or vertical take off and landing, allows pretty good aircraft to drop precision bombs relatively safely and operate from three different bases, traditional land air base, traditional carrier, or either very forward air base or helicopter carrier.

    • @peteman8160
      @peteman8160 3 роки тому

      @@JSolar590 Yea but dont you think that if there are 2 bombers flying in loaded to the gills with hydrogen bombs that you would like to send up more then just to fighter jets to intercept and destroy? Like send op 10 or more for redundancy. Like how do we know thay there arnt also enemy fighter jets up there with the bombers with radar jamming nor stealth tech or outnof range. You think with the importance and danger of the situation it might be a good idea to send up extra planes just incase ??? Better safe then sorry. Worst case they wont be needed it not like we dont have more then enough ready to go.

    • @JSolar590
      @JSolar590 3 роки тому

      @@peteman8160 True. But have we ever sent a whole squadron of fighter interceptors after bombers? I've never heard that before. I think the reason why they didn't send more was because it was a typical move during the Cold War. Had the Soviet Union/Russia sent more bombers against our air defenses we would've sent fighters to take them out. We also might've had those fighters on standby. I think we didn't consider radar jamming at the time too.
