  • #jdswaterworld takes a look at ‪@tommytsadventures‬ Yamaha GP 1800 after he experiences some fuel related issues out on the water. We do a quick overview of some of the items you should check after experiencing issues with your ski out on the water. We test the fuel pump per the Yamaha service manual, and address some key maintenance issues.

    If the hose clamp for the exhaust brakes off and pops out the exhaust, the exhaust fumes will kill the engine lock of oxygen inside the hall

    • @JDsWaterWorld

      Definitely the fumes coupled with lots of steam and water! There were a few overlapping issues with the ski that occurred, and the exhaust coupler popping off was one of them we quickly found!

      That explains why when this happened, I took my seats off and it fired right up. As soon as I put the seat back on, it wouldnt run.

    Watching that fuel pump come out just pisses me off for how hard Kawi made it to remove the Ultra pump. Hope she is back to normal on the water

    • @JDsWaterWorld
      @JDsWaterWorld  4 місяці тому

      This one is honestly as difficult to remove, except you don’t have to tilt the tank- that was a stock image of the fuel pump we did not actually remove it for testing here. Notably Kawasaki sells replacement filters for the pump, and we have shops like Kawi Performance who sell replacement regulators and pumps for the Kawasakis..with Yamaha you can get a Riva pump, but nobody has the filter bag..

    • @edwardbowles8613

      Gotcha! I thought yal just removed it quickly! It really would not have taken much to make the Ultra so much easier to remove. And yes, thanks to KAWI PERFORMANCE for their external filter.

      So Tommy actually stopped by my house on his way home from the ramp, we didn’t have much time but I was hoping just to do some quick tests so we could determine if he needed to order a pump or not ..I owned a 2021 FX and a 2021 VX and yes removing the cover gives you tons of room

    JD, you the homie for real. Should I be adding K100 after every ride no matter whether the ski will sit or not?

    • @JDsWaterWorld
      @JDsWaterWorld  4 місяці тому +2

      Definitely add it if your ski is being stored for more than a few days between rides! After just a few days, fuel containing ethanol begins to phase separate…ideally run your tank down and don’t store the ski full of gas..refuel with fresh before each ride. k100 preserves fuel, boosts octane, and reverses phase separation!

    Hey JD question:I was flushing the intercooler and noticed that water was coming out of a little hole inside Under the engine there is a black box and a hose(brown and short)that has some small holes. I think that is for drain water if get into the air filter.but there is no water in the filter box but I was flushing the intercooler.Once I turned off the water it's stopped voting little by little.is that normal? Or the intercooler is bad?it's a 2013 ultra.thanks.

    • @JDsWaterWorld
      @JDsWaterWorld  4 місяці тому +3

      So let me get this right…when you flush your intercooler you are seeing water come out of the airbox drain?? If that is the case…water would be flowing through your supercharger..really bad stuff. First of all, pull the ducting and you will be able to see if the supercharger and intercooler and ducts are full of water..that should only take a few minutes. Also is your oil milky? What about the duct to throttle body? Don’t try to start engine but pull plugs and crank and see if cylinders full of water..does not sound good man you need to get that water out of engine ASAP and likely supercharger will need to be brined with oil very quickly to save it…if you confirm system full of water, take quick action

    • @jrg4435
      @jrg4435 4 місяці тому

      Yeah I think you so right.now the thing is to save the supercharger.no wander I tried to starter and it won't, it was like lock.but I keep starting and now the engine keeps spinning right but won't turn on.now it has low compression.it was like that before, the mechanic put prime tuner and it was reading 150 except #2 it was 120 psi.the problem before was that won't idle but you can reach 68mph and fast no problem.i don't know to much about ski and I bought it washing your videos and the water journal and I agree that the components and manufacturing of Kawis is the best.but is hard to find a good mechanic ,all of them prefer the 3 cylinder whit space and easy to work.im from Orlando and beside the first mechanic on labor ($6,500) to rebuild the engine didn't mention the intercooler.i been all ready with 2 mechanic and I found a good one in Palm Bay I'll call him again to see $$ .. I'm so desperate to use the ski as November 5😅. thanks a lot bro.i admire you how you are in top of pm your ski.hey there is no way to save the intercooler ?. So far I need a set of piston, rings and gaskets.plus the intercooler.i hope that the super charge is not damaged.the main issue is labor because the mechanic is always busy... thanks a lot..

    • @JDsWaterWorld
      @JDsWaterWorld  4 місяці тому +1

      Damn…well first priority should be to pull the charger and get all the water out… Also, if there’s water in the engine, you need to take steps to get it all out immediately. I hope for your sake it was fresh water..if salt could be more of a disaster than it’s even worth.. Depending on hours, you honestly may just want to rebuild everything again…give Steve at Kawi performance a call- he has the best parts and can help with most of the stuff you need. Compression could be low due to worn rings/pistons or improper valve clearance/ damaged valve seat or both…it’s a complicated ski with lots of components that need proper attention. Any mechanic that charged you that much money to rebuild the engine and then did not pressure test the intercooler is kinda an idiot…pressure testing the intercooler takes 5 minutes…and is critical- why did the previous engine blow? You need to pull intercooler out of the ski, use hose clamps to attach a garden hose to the water feed port, then check for leaks. You need to determine if the core has corroded through, or if it’s just leaking at the packing seals. If it’s just leaking at the seals, you can reseal the entire unit. There are a bunch of decent used intercoolers on eBay..some radiator shops can rebuild them for you…Riva Space Coast may service Kawasaki Jet Skis- maybe give them a call? You’re gonna have to do it yourself if you want it all done right, most jet ski mechanics are paid $13 an hour and can barely pour their own cereal in the morning…
