Unify is a lighting fast unicorn ⚡️🦄 I love calling it up in stand-alone, opening Ableton, and while Ableton loads I create and save an idea in Unify, then once Ableton finally opens my template (which has multiple instances of Unify already called up) I go find the patch/idea I was working on in and continue building out a track inside the DAW 😁

Mono Latch Mode is indeed a brilliant addition to the functions of sequencers and synthesizers - I haven't seen it before. I hope Trigger mode follows one day (Trigger mode is like what Omnisphere does that enables real-time quantization of incoming MIDI notes, which can be useful in a few ways - both for triggering parts with ARPs (ensuring they start on a beat or bar). This is also good to help musicians and others with bad rhythm skills to have fun being in time (since Trigger Mode "waits" when a player is early with their note/s).
Maybe Spectraonics could have been partly inspired to add the Omnisphere Trigger function by seeing the success of Ableton Live incorporating Session View features with triggerable MIDI and Audio clips. One thing no one has done to my knowledge is this: You could add a swing selector (8th or 16th) and swing knob to the transport (that would affect the trigger mode if set to 8th or 16th. There's a confusion of mine that kind of goes with this - I know there have been certain companies that had products, Music Lab's Drum Tools Performance Designer, Slicy Drummer, and Fill-in Drummer were some, that could handle swing even if the setting was wrong. For example, if you globally selected 8th note swing, and dragged the swing selector, it would still intelligently adjust the 16ths, or even triplets (as would a setting of 16ths). I tried to work this out mathematically and it was sort of an obvious solution of granularity attached to the values. That's just an aside, but my point is it would be fun to jam in Unify and be able to have a groove with a bit of swing and get Unify to nudge your incoming notes into the groove, to "wait" so to speak. I know that there are other priorities but I couldn't resist saying something. Also, I haven't seen anyone but the Spectrosonics team be able to successfully implement a proper trigger function in a live keyboard environment. Whereas there are quantize record features in most synths, I've seen small developers try to add trigger mode to a Reaper tool, for example, and it wasn't that easy. Shane....

What perfect timing! This video arrived JUST as I was attempting to fathom the latch mode. You've streamlined my learning process - AGAIN! Thanks, John!

This video nicely highlights another of the creativity-weapons contained in the Unify arsenal. Excellent as usual - thanks for doing this. John, are you by any chance familiar with the RPS (Realtime Phrase Sequencing) functions in the Roland XP-80? There are a couple of features in there that I was wondering about ...could they make it into Unify? They would nicely supplement what you showed about latch mode. Is it better to ask in detail on the forum ...or just go at it here?

I hadn't had an issue with this until today. I bought a new library from your site, and suddenly realized when following the steps at about 9 minutes into this video, latch mode isn't working. I'm using the standalone. 2 midi controllers are set to send input into the Unify standalone library (under settings, audio / midi settings.). One is functioning to turn the mono latch off, but doesn't start the latch cycle running. (It just turns it off if its running. On this keyboard, if I press a note, I hear that note, but no more; it doesn't "latch". On the other keyboard the latch does work. Trigger (at the bottom) is set to MIDI Latch. And both the instruments are set to latch mono, and the latch is turned on. (I noticed that I had a program called ipMIDI which had a hidden popup - and had decided to override the system MIDI. I'm trying it in the DAW and not having the issue - I'll check the standalone version later

Daniela - I have 40 libraries I sell for Omnisphere 2. If it is not for you, cool, but I have many other customers that love Omnisphere 2 and love to feed it new inspiring patches. You can replace Omnisphere 2 with any other plug-in in this tutorial if you wish.

@@PlugInGuruVideo Be aware how many hours Wilfried did spent for telefon support, when you use in basic videos Omnisphere? Example… installation video of unify. You mix it with Omnisphere stuff so newcomers that do not speak English search hours and do not find the sound. The bass sound you can do similar with standard libary. I know you wish to sell. But not in the basic education videos.
All my libaries have short example videos, how to play. For example Ethera Soundscapes have now 1500 Patch Videos hidden. If you click the thumbnail you get a video, instructions, videos without audio that match the mood of the patch in scenes for training purposes, complete basic songs, midi files that match and so on.

@@DanielaTocan Hi Daniela, I know you are passionate about Unify as I see you in most of the live stream chats. I don't have Omnisphere but it doesn't matter to me if John wants to use a VSTi he feels happy to use, and he is using Unify effects to show us the layer flexibility. I see what you mean about new customers seeing a patch building video and not being able to follow the examples because they don't have that VSTi but we have to remember that Unify is for us to explore and come up with our own patches using our own choice of VST's.

@@GlenJDiamond the task is you speak and understand English. I can tell you. Last night I bought Chill GTR. Here is latch included. By the hell i asked me for what. Latch does not activate a loop. I was happy about the tutorial for voice over instructions up to the part he starts with Omnisphere. Than I did click away and go on with my work. Omnisphere is just for the rich guys.

@@DanielaTocan - Omnisphere is not for the rich guys. The price they ask for 45GB of incredible samples and an incredibly powerful synth engine with audio effects at a quality nobody has yet to match is beyond fair. It's actually worth many times over the price they ask. Maybe it is not for you, Daniela and that it Totally OK. But again, your statements are incorrect and damaging to a company that doesn't deserve your scorn.
