I am a Korean priest. I have read Dr. Scott Hahn's book and listened to his lectures, and I was deeply moved. Even during my missionary work in Bolivia, I introduced anecdotes about Dr. Scott Hahn to the believers, and they particularly enjoyed the part explaining the Mass along with the Book of Revelation

I am a Filipina living in South Korea. Jobs here are different for us who don't speak Korean but I am now grateful because while at work I can wear my headset and listen all day to Dr. Scott, EWTN, Fr. Ripperger and the likes. Praise be to God!
I had left Christianity in my teens. Ran from God for years. In my late twenties I graduated college in TN and intended to stay in TN. Then I could not find a job. I had never had an issue finding employment and suddenly could not even get a job at a liquor store.
I applied for one job in Vermont and was offered the job. To VT I moved and considered it like exile. Four years in I found a church and God. I now know why I am here. Gods ways are not my ways.
What a great testimony! By pop culture standards, one wouldn't expect to move from TN to VT and there to find God. I heartily agree with your last sentence.

There should be an modern Catholic organization that organizes all catholics like soldiers, similar to the Salvation army, to evangelize and help people.

Knights of Columbus, Women's Guild, Men's Club, Society of St. Vincent De Paul, even a Parish Bible Study are just some of the places we can start at having an active role in our local Parish

Dr. Hahn is right on! Back in the 80's we were worried then that the Cold War (Nuclear War) would 'end the world'.
But by the early 90's, I 'unplugged' from the 'daily news', turned back, and focused on my Catholic faith - bought a home, got married, and started a family.
Here now 40 years later I have a wonderful family, still strong in faith, a wonderful home/ranch/garden, and now even have GrandChildren!
And Praise the Lord God who has gotten us thru multiple excruciatingly difficult trials and has given us many undeserved generous Gifts, of not the least A Strong Faith, along the way!!
Trying times in this difficult world present an unparalleled opportunity to Rise to Heroic Levels of Virtue - remaining True to Christ and our Catholic Faith!!!

Sir, most serious Catholics I know would never become Atheist because the Vatican was blown up.....maybe there is one or two, but I imagine its not a seriously held notion for the vast majority. We would simply look around and see where is the Pope? If he is dead another will take his place as our visible sign of unity.
My own Catechises taught me about the nature of the Church as the Body of Christ. Church militant, Church suffering & Church Triumphant - each member a part of one Body with Jesus Christ as it's invisible Head & each Pope through time as its visible head or 'Vicar of Christ'. Christ as head offers all Fathers their 'headship' of the family. Likewise our Spiritual Fathers act vicariously at every Mass in persona christi. The Pope, among many other charisms acts as Head of the Visible Church.
I understand a fear to 'distinguish' Christ as the 'Head' of the Church & perhaps the risk involved in over emphasis on the role the Pope plays as 'Head'. However, both are true....so it isnt either or, it's both....and while I do get a hesitancy to say this without having the nuance involved. It is still what the Church teaches the role of the Holy Father to be.
Am I entirely wrong? If so, I sincerely apologise...but I really don't think so.
My fear is that a deemphasis on the role of the Holy Father as visible Head, with the keys and reducing this role somewhat carries great danger from other quarters.
Is it not best to just say what the Church teaches and qualify it with the proper nuance?

It seems to this Catholic that politics has so infused the Vatican and the hierarchy that I wonder if that group can truly hear the Holy Spirit over their own 'noise'.
You are absolutely correct. The Pope is the visible head of the Church. This was solemnly defined as a dogma in Pastor Aeternus 1:6, from the First Vatican Council.

He’s been refuted by Trent Horn. Doesn’t really require any further response. Hahn is more of a theologian than an apologist. And the apologists have refuted him.

Look up the definition of Vicar of Christ. The definition literally includes the headship of Pope over the Church on earth, which is equivalent to the Church militant which is in your quote.

Didn't St Paul contest with St Peter in Galatians 2.11-14
Paul recalls an episode in Antioch in which he saw Peter recoiling from eating with Gentiles (i.e., non-Jews). Paul publicly decries Peter's actions, condemning them as hypocritical (v. 13) and “not in step with the truth of the gospel” (v. 14)
What an encouraging talk. I am next door to Tyler, TX, and I am so disturbed about Bishop Strickland. I am a convert and still need the sacrament of Confirmation. Bishop Strickland had given me so mucn hope. In fact, I was thinking of going to that diocese for Confirmation, because I don't want to be part of a Synodal church. I will continue to just be Catholic and not worry about Confirmation.
Welcome home, dear convert friend! Please do get confirmed! It's crucially important and will confer many graces. Ask God to lead you to a faithful pastor. There are still many of them. Don't be discouraged by this unfortunate pontificate. The Church will survive it, but right now it's tough. That's why the Church needs enthusiastic new Catholics like you now more than ever!
I am also a convert, I was just baptized and confirmed last Saturday. Please get confirmed, Stephanie is right. Don't let this get you down, the church has been through some rough times and what the Church needs is people like you and me who stay faithful even when men who are supposed to be good Catholic leaders let us down. Jesus Christ is the head of our Church no one else. Keep your eyes on Him and Him only. pray for everyone in leadership roles that they will find their way through the darkness. Pope John the XXII did not teach heresy as the Pope, “from the chair,” I.e., ex cathedra. It was definitely a theological error, as confirmed by his critics. He did not teach this as part of his magisterium, nor was the doctrine you mention a doctrine until Pope John XXII ‘s successor made it doctrine. So technically not heresy at the time he even made the statement. He also was not obstinate against other theological opinions at the time. Please be more careful in your words because I will bet that everyone listening believes now that JohnXXII was a heretic and taught heresy in his magisterium and ex cathedra which is NOT possible given the promise of Jesus. A person can hold an heretical view (material or actual), even the Pope, but the Pope can NEVER teach heresy in his magisterium or ex cathedra. Saying so is absolutely against Catholic teaching.

I'm pretty sure Vatican I said that the Pope indeed is the head of the Church, the visible head (where Christ is the invisible head and source of divine authority). Second, accusing your fellow parishioners of being infilitrators seems rather paranoid and uncharitable. Third, this advice seems pretty generic and could be applied to any ideology or faith. Fourth, I don't see how the parish system doesn't already achieve all this in principle. Basically you're just calling for the parishes to be more active reaching out to the surrounding community (a la New Evangelization).
Also, I don't appreciate the skepticism about the indefectibility and visibility of the Church that characterizes your argument.

Erric your concerns are legitimate. Hahn is promoting a Protestant ecclesiology which views the Church as an invisible society whose essence is in heaven (just like the Protestants). Hence, he believes that the members of the visible, juridical society Christ established on Earth are in exile from the true Church which is in heaven. Further, his assertion that the Pope is not the head of the Church is heretical (anathematized by Vatican I). We will be coming out with an article explaining these errors which are very dangerous, because they lead souls out of the Church in times of crisis.
Consider the parable of wheat and tares, we’re living through this parable now. You can pretend the Church isn’t imploding in many ways under our current Pope. Dr. Hahn’s advice was deeply insightful and appropriate for our Modernist times.

Read the dogmas my guy. Right after the role of the bishop of Rome is defined, Dogma # 149 explicitly states that “Christ is the head of the Church”
@@sA-ny2jlyou would not have survived the medieval popes, if you think any of this constitutes the loss of the papacy. Vatican 1 also teaches that Peter will have successors in perpetuity. Repent of your Sedevacantism and return to communion with Christ’s Church, with Francis as the visible head.

@@Handsomeman2342then Dr Hahn, knowing full well that there’s plenty of confusion going around, should have taken care to specify that St Peter is the VISIBLE head of the Church. He needs to stop saying, in an unqualified manner, that “the Pope is not the head of the Church and he never has been.” This is irresponsible at best.

This is close to being scandalous, please be careful. Because you may prefer Benedict to Francis, does not mean that he is not the visible head of the Church! All while God in Christ is the invisible head.

At the time he made similar declarations to that of Benedict 16th in his Jesus trilogy, where he is explicit in citing that he was acting as a theologian and not proclaiming dogma or exercising inffallability.

You don't see an issue with him dragging his feet when addressing the heretic priests in Germany blessing unholy unions, but wastes absolutely no time in condemning traditional faithful catholics? You don't see a problem with the purging of conservative bishops who simply want to preserve the goodness and richness of our faith and speak out against the evils in the church while the Holy Father sits among known sexual predators of the church? Calling out to my Christian brothers and sisters. Please re-evaluate the bible. Especially, the verse Samuel 15:3 where god commanded the killings of children and babies. Samuel 15:3 - “Go and attack the Amalekites! Destroy them and all their possessions. Don't have any pity. Kill their men, women, children, and even their babies.”. Clearly, this is illogical as God is merciful. Don’t let the church deceived you with a tampered scripture.
This was an answer to prayer when a month ago I had asked God why I was led to Jeremiah and Lamentations. Thank you St. Paul center and Dr. Hahn. 😊
