Being picky about books is natural. A lot of people dislike certain ways that dialogue is written. Actually the thing you brought up is a common criticism. It's the five-word sentence structure. "I picked up my shirt. Then I put it on. I picked up an apple. Then I took a bite" ect. Though it may sound more closely to how we tend to speak IRL, a lot of readers say they don't feel immersed in the story when it's written in such a way. Part of reading is creating an image in your head to go along with the words and without at least a little bit of proper set dressing, it can be heard to get into.
Who else thinks Jodi will just end up writing her own book. Like tbh I feel like she’s heading that way

The quality is so high I’m not used to seeing high quality stuff. My eyes are so used to seeing things in 360p
My problem with romantic scifi fantasy is its a lot about worldbuilding and allowing the reader to imagine themselves in the world. There's not always the largest focus on good writing and character development. There definitely can be, but not always.
I'd recommend checking out some scifi or fantasy from the 90s and earlier. Its not a gaurantee, but especially from female (or weirdly, the mormon) authors you can get some really great plots
tbh loving or hating yourself is complicated. for me i love who i am as a person ive been hurt times and times again and somehow i don't feel like hurting others its just not in me its hard to move on specially if you loved and cared deeply about someone and they hurt you but it does get easier (yall know what im talking about lmfao), but on the other side i am extremly lazy im not saying im fat, i actually need to gain some weight lmao, im talking about school lazy work lazy sometimes im lazy to even give a damn about whats happening around me and i hate that. sometimes it backfires specially regarding my grades i do the literal bare minimum to pass while i could be getting grades waaay higher wich will grant me better opportunities.

My old cat Mittens was the master escape artist. He could always escape out of back door and he was really completely fine and smart enough to come back after like an hour outside. Also he got attacked by a massive bird once and came out of it with like 2 scratches, so he was pretty lucky.
My current cat is so dumb but likes being outside. So we have a harness and leash that we got so he can be outside but only has like 5 feet worth of movement into the backyard
4:08 - Most birds that hit windows are usually just stunned. My mom used to flick water at them til they were not stunned and they'd fly off. I love hummingbirds too they're my mom's fave bird.
Also I think you break things down for other people and it's easily digestible in the chaos of the current world. I'm older and follow a bunch of streamers and they definitely are afraid to do the same because they fear being cancelled or their views not matching their persona they've created.
I think you should pull your bangs out when wearing a hair band; I tried it and you'll look more like Babydoll from Sucker Punch. I love that movie and it'd be cuter with pink hair.

Just finished the name of the wind by Patrick Rothfuss, loved it starting book 2 now very well written fantasy with small romance subplot

You aren't being picky at all, if you are going to spends hours reading you may as well spend it not cringing at the writing the whole time.
I always recommend Becky Chambers to people because her books are so immersive. They are sci-fi but not dystopian or cold, instead they are warm and focus on themes like hope, relationships and self-discovery.
I'm not sure if you'll ever read this, but my roommate built a little chicken wire fence cage around the balcony so the cats could go in and out carefree 😊 Just make sure to start from the deck(if your cat(s) can fit between the railings) and make a ceiling so they can't climb out. Use some wood on the corners for rigidity, and you're set!

The Terrier Bloodhound Mastiff trilogy by Tamora Pierce is so well written, great for when you can't stop critiquing the editing/voice of a book lol. Also subplot romance that feels weirdly realistic

Jodi, if you take book recommendations I highly recommend, The warded man by Peter V. Brett, I am book sci/fantasy enjoyer and he writes in one of the best ways I have read. I also have enjoyed Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson and if your looking for Sci-Fi the Foundation series by Isaac Asimov is very interesting.
