"When a watch repair man acquires an antique pocket watch that can control time, he decides to use it to achieve his dreams. His plans soon become sinister when he learns he isn't the only one with the knowledge of the pocket watch."
Fantastic thank you Mike Pappa.
Geminis thanks for watching!⏱🎥❤️
Classic sci fi paradox , very stylish , Sound track was perfect , short film making at its very best , Mike Pappa has mastered the silent film genre , not easy to tell a story without words , and proper stop time animation instead of effects - priceless .
scott mcadam much appreciated. Thanks coming over here( Frankie is also on Dust too)
Extraordinary, like the fact that the movie is somehow futuristic but yet it is a silent movie. Great acting. Great story! 10/10.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great opening quote!
You had me captivated from that moment on! Much gratitude!!
🌎🌏🔍👀🤔
Well, at the risk of sounding different, I got lost. Once he hit him over the head...the first time... I got completely confused - who, when, which 🤷♀️. Other than THAT... fantastic! Great sound-track; loved the lack of dialogue. I love different perspectives of time travel. Thank you!
Sorry you were confused, but sounds like you still enjoyed it. Much appreciated. :)
Mike Pappa Great job on the lack of dialogue and still allowing most people to understanding it. I too got a bit lost around the same time as the OP mentioned but I didn’t get to watch it all in one viewing. I enjoyed it nevertheless! Great job!!!
Excellent! Thank you, this is a real gem!!
Bravo Mike 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿, he is now stuck in a paradox! This is why across all dimensions in the physical realm, time travel is "outlawed".
No Chill thanks! Yes, that’s correct:)
I think this is a severly underrated and underviewed shortfilm, it is excelent.!
Thanks for watching and the comments!
Finally a short film concerning someone with my fixation on time like me.
That's your calling -- make that short film.
Wow! From all the Short films, this one have some decent awesome ending! Congrats! Wonderful music and picture!
Excellent! loved it! the quality, the sound, was really good!
thank you, glad you enjoyed it!
Mike Pappa very good haven't seen something as good as this in a long time you have great talent my dear sir
I loved how we know who really got killed, but still can't help watching him walk right into it with excruciating precision.
Excellent. One of the best shorts I've seen on YT, and I've seen lots of them ...
Thanks! Glad to hear you enjoyed it.
Best short I've watched - and I've watched hundreds!
thanks for watching!
Really loved it, everything from the music to the ambiance it creates were great 10/10 xD
Loop Paradox .....brilliant work ,thankyou for making this and sharing ,it should be a full movie
+Anna X Appreciate the comments! Thank you for watching!
Thank you for this great film. Can't believe I just found your channel. After watching Frankie I knew I had to subscribe.
Finally, an awesome sci-fi short. It' about time!
literally about time. :)
Good, I love the color scheme and style of this but it also felt a tad slow and drawn out. I loved that it was silent.
'Stealing Time' is also a great watch for time travel lovers.
Living the eternal loophole for one naive dream, that's the human nature.
also filmmaking. :(
where does Frankie wander today
great w great music
Today, Frankie wanders in an endless time loop. :/
This is the work of a genius!
Marcin Bukowski too kind!
Not at all. I mean it :) Best of luck with Your carrier. You deserve it.
Good! Very creepy ... especially with no dialogue. Bravo.
Thanks!
Mike Pappa I liked it without dialogue.
it let's the actors emote instead of just talking.
Good job.
"YESSSSSSS TIIIIIIIIIME"
thank you, sir
Mike Pappa
You're welcome.
"TIIIIIIIIIIIIIIMMME"
Best "silent movie" I've seen for a long time. Brilliant!
thanks!
One of the best movies I've watched in years
Thanks!
James Pappas here... Great flick.. keep up the great work
James Pappas thanks!
There’s a simplicity of this that so reminds me of an animated short...wonderful visuals, great character development through those visuals...suspense built perfectly, a motivational arc that seems very real to life, despite the comment I read from another. This is why I love film. Great job.
Definitely a great film, the concept of time travel was done justice here. I really enjoyed mike pappa's perspective and bringing it, with not one word spoken, that well is an amazing feat. Great job!!!!
thank you, sir!
brilliant production
i esp loved the soundtrack
Thanks! Appreciate it.
Some of the best sci fi on UA-cam. Music was perfect...and the whole thing without dialogue yet basically understandable.
Here's my quandary: what could a person take back in time to trade with ancient Romans if it would not effect the present, and stipulating that no modern materials or tech could be taken back? Sort of a "Prime Directive" but vis-a-vis time-travel. What could you swap for their gems, gold and silver? Tobacco, of course, but...not so ethical. For what would they be willing to part with their booty on a pound for pound basis?
Infertile prostitutes.
what?
Wow. Great film. This deserves to be seen by more people. Sad that some cat yawning will get millions of views and this doesn't. Great job. Keep up the good work.
Thanks!, glad you enjoyed the short.
real good watch, thoroughly enjoyed every minute!!!!(seriously I did! you can tell a lot of thought and work has gone into this and the finished article is fantastic)
Peter Addison thank you! Glad to hear it. :)
Very clever. The quality is right up there with the best in cinema. I wish you much success.
thanks for watching. I appreciate the comments!
I'm glad I found the time to watch this---It was great!
So am I. :)
Superb film, cinematography and soundtrack brilliant. More please...
thanks!
To me, the whole thing felt like the origin story of a comic book villain, if you leave out the ending that reveals he's caught in a time loop of his own making. Meek scientist guy obsessed with time acquires the power to travel through time and uses it for nefarious deeds, to get back at the world for not recognizing his scientific mind.
BRILLIANT! ♥
I love the characters they picked for this and room 88, 2 mistakes the poster with entry dead line in his room was already taken off second in the whole movie he never came to the end of the month when he went back on time plus he's not obsessed with winning a contest I think he wanted to reunite with his dad.
I watch a lot of so called "Award Winning" short films that now UA-cam is riddled with. I always start off with absolutely no expectations because I want to be amazed by the potential of an idea that some random UA-camr had thought of, spent time and money to film it and then put it up for our, the viewer's, scrutiny.
More often than not, a minute into the film and I end up clicking on one of the "Suggested Videos" or the UA-cam logo at the top of the page. Most of the times, the reason is poor acting, and often childish cinematography. Other times it is simply the director's choice of camera movements just because they thought it would look cool irrespective of the intent.
Frankie jumped high over any other short films I have seen so far. It has a gripping story, excellent acting, fantastic camerawork and tight, clean editing. Frankie-ly (see what I did there), I am a fan of time-travel movies and movies which let the viewers do the thinking. I wish I could boast that I understood everything in the first view itself, but I am excited enough with the entire execution of this film that I can watch it many times more, possibly omitting details deliberately, just to find a reason to watch it again. This is a movie that everyone should learn from.
Mike Pappa, please keep making meaningful cinema!
Wow, thanks for that comment. Much appreciated, and I am glad you enjoyed it enough to watch it again. Yes, I will continue to make films. :)
check out the teaser for my latest, A Crimson Man.
ua-cam.com/video/H6LTsJT4U-0/v-deo.html
I already did! The moment that teaser ended, I subscribed to your channel.
I am now eagerly waiting to watch the full feature. When do you plan to release it?
It is still a short. Still in the editing phase. Picture lock soon!
Ooo, love this short! Like the idea of ending in a time loop
Glad you enjoyed it. :)
Finally a decent short film, most of them suck. In the end a guy so precise with time dies because he can't simply wait an hour to make sure he isn't the one getting killed, lol.
Pappa Bear 🐻 let’s sing cherish loool
Joking apart, great story. There’s no way but involving yourself into the whole story and rooting for him at all costs
hahah. I had to look that up. Thanks for watching and for sharing your thoughts. Much appreciated.
Mike Pappa I bet u have lool.. take care
Love the random stop motion.
Yes very well done it was exceptional! Nice production quality I loved it.
+Alexander Dominguez thanks for the comments! glad you enjoyed it.
This is just brilliant! Bravo! I'll be looking for more of your work.
thank you! A Crimson Man is coming soon.
the bum puffing of the cigarette was terrible hahaha. Apart from that, loved it.
Haha, fair enough. :). Glad you enjoyed it.
Variety - AND quality!
I love time travel stories that respect the Novikov self-consistency principle - basically meaning we cannot alter an event that has already happened, time loops (CTCs) must be consistent, and this story does an excellent job in that regard. The thing that intrigues me is that the page the guy takes with him is trapped in a time loop and at the end of it the guy adds another piece of tape to it. If the time loop is consistent, shouldn't the page have already an infinite amount of tape on it?
I like the twist of fate. He ends up killing himself. His precision for time was emaculent but he didn't have the foresight to see who came through the door!
immaculate!
UHM, SPOILERS, DEBRA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
chomungus ikr 😭😭💔
A very good short, because:
good story, good actors, very good music, works without dialogues, good cinematography.
Cheers
Thank you, sir!
Absolutely fantastic first class love the silent movie approach of non verbal mixed with first class music emotional atmospheric total fab lighting and camera work acting superb DollyWood watch out this movie proves that next to nothing budget with love sweat and tears can = a zillion dollar production.
thanks Angel, glad you enjoyed it!
It's shot and edited very well, but it's almost laughable to think that this guy, who has discovered time travel in a pocket watch, would be more concerned with winning a science competition.
to each their own! thanks for watching
Mark Robinson One word: Asperger's.
I believe that was so, because winning the talent show was something he did with his father (with whom he was very close) before he died. After losing his father, he became obsessed with keeping his memory alive through something they had common interest in, which was science. So yes, he was very excited about the watch, but at the same time he still had something very important to complete. At least that's my take on it.
Turbans & Tunics Well said. It's deliciously intriguing to think about "what would I do, if I had that watch?"
+zxy - i would rather go past not future, before i was born - better times for everyone or different place to help myself like some kid of fairy - Frankie2 ua-cam.com/video/UTO0ogdNMdY/v-deo.html
six minutes into this and it is amazing.
Thanks. Hope the remaining 16 minutes didn't disappoint.
I absolutely loved it.
Archimedes was right after all. Well done !
Thanks!
Much gratitude!
🌎🌏🔍👀🤔
you should have two half hour episodes back to back at least once a weekend, for a regular TV series with different characters and actors every time. I'd like this better than the twilight zone, etc.
thanks, that's quite a compliment.
Exceptional work! Totally enjoyed watching this short. Well done!
The plot twist was relatively easy to have been guessed, but other than that, the camera, the photography and the acting were meticulously executed. It really felt like being around 50's. The non-dialogue approach and the intense (violin?) music created just the right atmosphere. It had a feeling similar to the game RIVEN is some aspects. I would be looking forward watching for some more of your work!
Thank you, sir! I appreciate the comments. I am currently in pre-production for my next short film 'A Crimson Man.' You can check it its progress here : acrimsonman.tumblr.com/
It's about time!
Greatest Silent Movie ever made ,,,, absolutely Intoxicating.
Hey Mike, I just "discovered" your movie, "Frankie" and enjoyed it so much I had to drop you a line. My Dad and I use to watch a lot of sci-fi movies together and he would've really loved this one! Enjoyed the silence of speaking, the colors, and all the intricate details. It was fun figuring out the story from all the visuals. Beautifully done with a good laugh at the end. I'm sure you may have harsher critics, but I enjoyed the wrap-around journey.
Hope you and your family are well, take care and looking forward to checking out the rest of your features!
All the best!
Hi. I love these kinda comments. Not just cause you told how much you enjoyed it, and gave many wonderful compliments:) but more that you shared the story about you and your dad. ❤️ thanks for sharing. I hope you find as much enjoyment in my other shorts. Stay safe. 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻🎥
the worst is when you put nearly all your most treasured items all in one place. only to beat yourself later...
Even better the second time around! :o)
very well made man! lighting, editing, character development, clothing...you got serious game!!! this is the new wave of movies bro...screw feature films!
Thanks! Appreciate the comments. :)
Very well made, and I loved the storytelling. Well done. I will definitely check out you next flic. Thanks
Awesome. Thanks for watching!
Predicted the ending. Was hoping so much for him to realise and do something about it.
fair enough! thanks for watching!
Regardless, the film is very well done. Congrats!
awesome, great music choice
thanks!
That was really well done. I loved it!
Wow !Outstanding !
Music Image total harmony !
❥

CreativECreatureS thanks! glad you enjoyed it.
Beautiful!
Brilliant! Absolute genius.
thanks
This is no laughing matter. His attorney fees were considerable after being charged with his own murder.
GREAT watch. Subscribed!
Thank you, sir!
Impressive. I especially love the music.
thanks!
Great work! Very trembling hands for such a job though!
Well done & funny
Nice time travel concept. The only problem is the hook hanger for his jacket from the very beginning is from Command adhesives hook made in 2003. That film is around 1930s maybe. Lol
Thanks. Glad you like the concept. The time period is ambiguous and never stated. If anything the hook is lazy set dressing rather than anachronistic. :)
very cool!...love it
there was a movie i watched long ago that had almost the exact theme . but the main character in the move was willed the watch from his grandfather , who was a multi millionaire . but i cannot remember the name of the movie . probably mid 70's . movie . and it was a comedy.
did you ever figure out what the film was?
Mike Pappa i'm guessing you were asking me...no , i never did figure it out .
Clever. Thanks.
Thank you back.
This was brilliant!
Glad you enjoyed it.
Great! so he was trapped in a time loop. You can remember the past but you cant remember the future!
He made his own time loop, and it precipitated him killing himself! Time is not to be tampered with!
the loop.. brilliant
Very well done. I thank you for that.
thank you for watching!
Beautiful!!
Humorous. In the end to witness your own death. Irony.
Actually, not just to witness...but to cause your own death.
Wes Anderson would be proud!
Wow this was amazing! I was fully immersed! Bravo!
Thanks!
This was really good
Production, editing, music, no dialogues
Sad to see such few views, best of luck for your upcoming short :)
Thank you, sir!
wow, he sure likes consistency doesn't he
yes, he does!
Dark Angel Dreadnought My newest comment, OCD FOR SURE! Butt good none the less!!
5 years later … Still solid.

So good and so messed up. Nicely done!
Thanks!
Well done!! Bravo!
really good, friend.
kept my attention well shot.
great continuity cheers!
thanks for watching!
I tried to figure it out. Its Monday, 8 March 2010. The year was missing from the calendar. Time 1:04
the year is ambiguous. :)
I like this, very maticulas.
Brilliant ... Looks like the starting of this has inspired an Indian feature film called 24
i just watched the trailer for the Indian feature 24 -- wow
