Classic sci fi paradox , very stylish , Sound track was perfect , short film making at its very best , Mike Pappa has mastered the silent film genre , not easy to tell a story without words , and proper stop time animation instead of effects - priceless .

Well, at the risk of sounding different, I got lost. Once he hit him over the head...the first time... I got completely confused - who, when, which 🤷‍♀️. Other than THAT... fantastic! Great sound-track; loved the lack of dialogue. I love different perspectives of time travel. Thank you!

Some of the best sci fi on UA-cam. Music was perfect...and the whole thing without dialogue yet basically understandable.
Here's my quandary: what could a person take back in time to trade with ancient Romans if it would not effect the present, and stipulating that no modern materials or tech could be taken back? Sort of a "Prime Directive" but vis-a-vis time-travel. What could you swap for their gems, gold and silver? Tobacco, of course, but...not so ethical. For what would they be willing to part with their booty on a pound for pound basis?

To me, the whole thing felt like the origin story of a comic book villain, if you leave out the ending that reveals he's caught in a time loop of his own making. Meek scientist guy obsessed with time acquires the power to travel through time and uses it for nefarious deeds, to get back at the world for not recognizing his scientific mind.

I love the characters they picked for this and room 88, 2 mistakes the poster with entry dead line in his room was already taken off second in the whole movie he never came to the end of the month when he went back on time plus he's not obsessed with winning a contest I think he wanted to reunite with his dad.

I watch a lot of so called "Award Winning" short films that now UA-cam is riddled with. I always start off with absolutely no expectations because I want to be amazed by the potential of an idea that some random UA-camr had thought of, spent time and money to film it and then put it up for our, the viewer's, scrutiny.
More often than not, a minute into the film and I end up clicking on one of the "Suggested Videos" or the UA-cam logo at the top of the page. Most of the times, the reason is poor acting, and often childish cinematography. Other times it is simply the director's choice of camera movements just because they thought it would look cool irrespective of the intent.
Frankie jumped high over any other short films I have seen so far. It has a gripping story, excellent acting, fantastic camerawork and tight, clean editing. Frankie-ly (see what I did there), I am a fan of time-travel movies and movies which let the viewers do the thinking. I wish I could boast that I understood everything in the first view itself, but I am excited enough with the entire execution of this film that I can watch it many times more, possibly omitting details deliberately, just to find a reason to watch it again. This is a movie that everyone should learn from.
Mike Pappa, please keep making meaningful cinema!

I love time travel stories that respect the Novikov self-consistency principle - basically meaning we cannot alter an event that has already happened, time loops (CTCs) must be consistent, and this story does an excellent job in that regard. The thing that intrigues me is that the page the guy takes with him is trapped in a time loop and at the end of it the guy adds another piece of tape to it. If the time loop is consistent, shouldn't the page have already an infinite amount of tape on it?

I believe that was so, because winning the talent show was something he did with his father (with whom he was very close) before he died. After losing his father, he became obsessed with keeping his memory alive through something they had common interest in, which was science. So yes, he was very excited about the watch, but at the same time he still had something very important to complete. At least that's my take on it.

The plot twist was relatively easy to have been guessed, but other than that, the camera, the photography and the acting were meticulously executed. It really felt like being around 50's. The non-dialogue approach and the intense (violin?) music created just the right atmosphere. It had a feeling similar to the game RIVEN is some aspects. My Dad and I use to watch a lot of sci-fi movies together and he would've really loved this one! Enjoyed the silence of speaking, the colors, and all the intricate details. It was fun figuring out the story from all the visuals. Beautifully done with a good laugh at the end. I'm sure you may have harsher critics, but I enjoyed the wrap-around journey.
