      I started on a 250 Virago
Then got the 650 Dragstar or VStar as u call it there and it was fav bikes of all I had
3rd bike was the Kawasaki Vulcan 800 which got broken beyond repair and sold it for parts
AND NOT I OWN A SUZUKI BANDIT 600
Which I love but next year wanna get back on a cruiser
Maybe a Dragstar 1100 or even a Sportster but ye at 6'2 might be a lil tall for that :P

My father was an owner and mechanic of a Harley Dealership in Canada! He was one of the best Haley mechanics in North America at the time. He was also Canadian Champ in Dirt Track racing , ride BSA and the XR750 and he loves the Sportster, he’s 5’6” and weighed 150lbs back in the day. I finally picked up my dream bike a few weeks ago, its the EXACT build I wanted. 2007 Softail Heritage with dual fishtails, ape hangers, bags, and every piece of chrome imaginable. Won't need to dump money on aesthetics, just maintenance. Took me 3 years to get there, started off on a Suzuki 650 for two years then got a 1200 Sportster for a year as my first Harley. That thing was beat the f up when I got it and traded it in for the Softail. I followed your advice without even knowing it, it did take me a week to get used to it but now im good. Really enjoyed the video and I'm a prime candidate to comment. I just bought my first Harley yesterday after 50 years of riding Hondas. My last Honda was a 1996 Magna and I honestly loved the bike but it was having more and more problems. It left me stranded at a gas station Sunday morning and that was the last straw. I'd been thinking about finally getting a Harley for awhile. I'd even sat on a couple and immediately knew they weren't right for me. I'm 5-10 and around 145 lbs. and 76 years old, so I was looking for something smaller and lighter. I pulled up a 2013 Sportster XL1200 Custom at a dealership and it felt perfect. Not too big, not too heavy, great lines, a 4.5 gallon gas tank. The clutch and brake levers were perfect, the seat was even comfortable. My first real ride where I wasn't stuck in stop and go traffic was this morning and I thoroughly enjoyed it. No buyer's remorse for this guy. It will rattle your teeth sitting at a red light, but that smooths out and disappears when you get up a little speed. It's a great ride at 65 mph. The smaller size and weight make it nimble in the corners and the handling overall is beginner-easy. I think I got the right first Harley for my size and strength, which is not even close to what it was even 20 years ago, and I'm really comfortable with every aspect of this bike. Would definitely recommend the Sportster XL1200 for riders about my size and previous experience on metric cycles.

Great advice. I started on a Fat Boy because I was too short for the sportster and I liked the curves. Lowered it to help me park but I road it well. The only thing missing was music and cargo. So I moved to a lowered Street Glide and road those for +14 years. Circumstances being what they were, near the end, I had to part ways. In a better position, I wanted to get another Street Glide but, then (unrelated) I got hurt. During my recovery years later, I purchased and tried to get back on a Street Glide but it wasn't happening. I just couldn't hold it up anymore in my current condition. I was devastated. My desire and short sightedness led me to the wrong decision. Upon going to the dealership to try and figure our what to do, my current Tri Glide had just been off loaded from the truck and was still in the crate. It spoke to me, met all my requirements, allowed me to get back on the road and I fell in love with it. It's why I created just a few videos to share my experiences and hopefully help other disabled riders get back to riding. I will always have a desire and passion for 2 wheels but for now, I'm out there doing what I love.

I'm a big dude at 6'5 and 270 pounds and that Honda fits me perfectly and I love riding, but when I want to talk to people I work with that ride, they only want to jab at me because it's not a Harley and that sucks.

Softail standard, my first bike and would definitely recommend for first bike for new riders. Especially if you’re a quick learner and have experience changing gears on four wheelers or dirt bikes. I’m 6’4 and put forward controls, which I highly recommend for tall riders.

I got my my first bike back in high school, me and a couple of my friends used to buy bikes from insurance companies, fix em and flip them. Those were all sport bikes. After I got married and had my first daughter, I gave up riding, and now, sixteen years later I got back into riding, got 89 softail custom and just recently got 21 ultra limited for long distance rides. That 89, is the one I love the most, them older bikes have a personality that newer ones don't. Stay safe out there, God bless!

Hey man, new viewer here. I've been checking your channel and listening your stories for the past 2 or 3 days, and some of the things you've said have hitted me like a nail to the head. 100% truth, it's like you're telling my story lol. I bough my first Harley less than a month ago. I went with 2013 FatBoy with Ape Handles, around 14", and for me they're pretty solid. Anyways, wanted to come and say "Hi!" and I'll be watching more of your videos in the future ;)

Started riding at 9 yrs old on the little mini bikes , then a Suzuki Trail Hopper 50 cc , then Yamaha 80 cc . And from there 125's and 250's . My first road bike was a 1971 Triumph TR650 . Had two Suzuki GL 550's . And then a Honda Nighthawk 700S ,,, last bike for quite a while . Then I got a Honda Valkyrie Interstate and had it 4 yrs and now I have a 2012 Harley Davidson Road King with a 103 Twin Cam that I picked up in September of 2023 with 5300 miles on it . Couldn't be happier . I like the simplicity of the Road Kings and it feels great and handles good .

My wife, who is 5'2 has a Softail Slim S with the 110 Twin Cam that was in the CVOs. She handles it like a champ. She rode an Indian Scout for a year and worked her way up. My first Harley was an old ElectraGlide classic. I went to a Road King after that. I have a 2003 100th anniversary Heritage Softtail. My main bike though is a 2022 Road Glide S. I'm on 5'9. It's not just about your size, i.e. height and weight. It's also about your skill and how much time you put in learning the craft. I've been riding for damn near 30 years. Started out on dirt bikes... have had various Hondas and Yamahas. You are right; you have to work your way in to a bigger bike. I wouldn't trade my Road Glide for anything.

That head turn is real. I've saved many turns when I was starting by just adjusting where I was looking. Body follows and you can make it through the turn. Just upgraded to a 2015 Road King 103, from an 07 Dyna Wide Glide. still love both.. paid 13,500 but she was a garage princess before I got her, only 2300 on it when I picked her up. Already stage 1 and tuned with a full Rinehart exhaust and SE intake with stage 1 tune. Bars are a little wider than I like looking to get some 16 inch narrow apes eventually

My first HD (and second bike total) was an 883 Sportster. Great first bike as I was 5’9”, 155 at the time. Now I have a 2013 Electra Glide. I knew my next bike had to have cruise, a stereo and storage for stuff. Going to the grocery store, I can put quite a bit in my hard bags and trunk. I’d say any interstate/freeway driving you want a 1200cc engine or more. Same if you are going to be in an MC, whether 1%’er or a regular club.

Started on an 07’ Suzuki boulevard c90 at 16 years old. At 20, gave the bike back to my dad and started riding an 06’ Kawasaki Vulcan 900. Just bought my first Harley at 29, it’s a 2023 heritage softail 114. Loved the torque of the boulevard, but I loved the lean angle of the Vulcan more. I could really throw that bike around.
Only downfall to my heritage softail is the lower lean angle. In a way I think of it as a reason to smarten up a little, haha. Almost went with the low rider ST, but the heritage softail is my dream bike. Has been since I was 20 years old, my first trip to Sturgis bike week and test rode one.

    My favorite subject!
Advice I was given but didn’t listen to was buy a used metric if you’re learning. It’ll save a lot of money while you learn what’s right for you or if riding isn’t.
I don’t know but doubt using a metric as a starter is an option in an outlaw club.
And I think you’re the first person I’ve seen point out if you can afford it, you’ll save a lot buying the options you want rather than doing it later.
My first was a new Honda shadow 650. 6 months later I ate the cost and bought a 1600 Kawasaki

First bike Honda Cr250. Then a XR 350. First street bike, 2018 HD FLSB Sport Glide. Cruise control, fuel gauge, 5 gallon Softail with the 107 M8, forward pegs, small removable fairing and removable bags for going naked. 6" risers with 2" pullback already installed Mustache bar, Saddlemen Explorer seat, upgraded FatBob 57mm rear shock with 4.5" travel, inverted front forks. 6'5" 285#. It was a handful at first to learn on again. unbelievable amounts of torque, right off of idle. My stable mate is a 2023 BMW R1250 GSA. Best riding bike I've ever been on. The Sport Glide is a sister to your Softail Low Rider Slim. Both fine handling 650 to 700# bikes. I bought this bike used from the original owner, he was 6'4" and 225#, so bike was already set up exactly as I wanted it. Even came in Twisted Cherry Red, which is exactly what I wanted, anything but black, gray or white.

My first bike was a Solex, (a bicycle that had a 49cc two stroke motor mounted to the triple tree that could be unhooked and placed on the front tire to start and motorized assist), fast forward ten years to 1978 when I bought my first Harley, a 1976 FLH. I still own that bagger. She doesn't have enough power to get out of her own way but nostalgia keeps her around. (That and understanding parents that let me park in their garage while I was off doing whatever I was doing for prolonged periods of time)

I ended up getting the Lowrider ST because seems like everyone has the roadglide and the lowrider for me was best of both worlds, not to heavy, price was cheaper, has the 117 M8, has good wind protection.
