When I first sat down to arrange this track I went with a more straightforward version. The original draft was more an orchestration of the original, with the driving rock feel, but with more big band brass. But after speaking with Jesse Myers (drummer on this track) he put the bug in my ear to go a different direction. After thinking about it more, I realized a lot of the track naturally lined up well with Son Clave and then I set off to arrange it in this style.
The band is HOT on this one! We brought in famed youtube cover artist turned video game composer, Carlos "insaneintherainmusic" Eiene to play congas. Jesse Myers, Joe Davidian, Lindsey Miller, Thomas Davis (who also appears on trumpet) make up the rest of the incredible rhythm section. I enjoy the small tinges of funk throughout, making this a fun fusion. The horns are led by the incomparable Emmanuel Echem on lead trumpet, who also delivers a blistering solo in the middle. Antonio Orta, native son of Puerto Rico and former lead alto saxophonist of the US Army Blues, drives the saxophone section with fire and incredible intonation. The bone section is led by D.J. Rice who currently sits as lead trombone in the famed UNT One O' Clock Lab Band.
I hope you enjoy our take on “The Decisive Battle”! “Don’t tease the octopus, kids!”

Such a chad move having Carlos on as, not a saxophone player, but as a drummer
I would say the real chad move is Carlos being able to play 900+ instruments
What an incredible cover! In the name of all FF6 fans, thank you!
Thank you for your kind words! I love FF6! Please check out the entire album on Spotify if you wanna hear the rest, in the meantime I'll be uploading new videos in the next two weeks :D

We’ll this got me to subscribe. If our you all on the same level (high) as the 8-but Big Band. Flat out excellent arrangement, players, and editing. Kudos to you all!
Thanks Aaron! We have four to come. And our last album “Critical Hits” is all up on UA-cam and streaming too if you wanna hear more :)
Loved this interpretation of the theme. Fantastic arrangement and stellar players as always.
Wonderful arrangement!! The salsa vibe fits so perfectly with this tune, just by shifting that opening line rhythmically a little bit, and it creates a whole new world of possibilities! The performances across the board were phenomenal. Loved hearing that high brass near the end, and the conga and piano fills and that throughout. Can’t wait to listen through the rest of the album, it’s saved so I can waltz through it on a walk one of these days!
FFVI was my first Final Fantasy, and I loved hearing this boss theme in the original back in 2014 when I first discovered the game. Fantastic hearing it fresh here in 2022!
It's funny how many of the rhythms already fit the 2-3 clave. I just had to make some minor adjustments here and there
Battles never seem more decisive than when given a salsa flair. This is awesome
Fire, I don't have any other word!
Gracias!
this is now the best version of this song
Holy crap man what a great way to start! This is so awesome!
Freakin' awesome.
This is awesome! Never realized how well this tune lends itself to salsa
Ya! Jesse Myers put the bug in my ear and then I realized how many of the rhythms already fit the 2-3 clave

This is awesome! Are these arrangements something you have to get a license from the publisher to make?
For digital distribution on streaming services, yes. I have to secure licenses for those.
@@TylerMire I see, thanks! I have some arrangements I'd like to release in the future. Is there a service that provides the licenses?
@@meimei117 soundrop is a great site for that
@@TylerMire Awesome, thanks so much Tyler!
what if Terra and crew born in Puerto Rico haha
Now the question is, what instrument would each FFVI character play?
