The ADA | Joni Eareckson Tada Shares Her Thoughts About The Americans with Disabilities Act
Вставка
- Опубліковано 18 жов 2024
- In 1990 Joni Eareckson Tada sat on the White House lawn watching President George H.W. Bush sign the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) into law. That day, after serving on the ADA board for two years, Joni saw their hard work come to fruition.
But neither the ADA nor any other law can change the hearts. True heart transformation begins with Jesus. This is why Joni and Friends puts Christ at the center of all we do. By his power alone, we can work to create a world where every person with a disability finds hope, dignity, and their place in the body of Christ.

Thanks for doing this!!
You are such an inspiration to me and now my 9yo grandson watches and listens to you with me. What a great witness for Christ you are! ❤🙏
10 years later, my son was attending a private Baptist University in Arkansas. I was disabled--not in a w/c, but I had a hard time walking. He noticed when repairs were needed at a building, the workers parked their trucks right across the sloped areas for the w/c access. Well, he just marched himself unannounced into the President's office and told him all about it. The workers never parked their trucks in those spots again!!! If I had not been disabled, he probably would not have given it a second glance!!! Celebrate indeed!!!!
Amen, Joni🙏

Wonderful and so needed. How mightily the Lord has used you Joni."When we are weak then we are strong".We are broken vessels ...and then God uses us.
We can give people perfection but they still sin...just look at Adam and Eve!Only God can change hearts 💕 and by His grace alone.
God bless youxxx
Joni, some 30 years ago, I could not get into my local post office or my bank in my village. There were barriers that stopped me and others in wheelchairs or who had limited arm strength to open heavy doors.
So I wrote my letters to the national post office in Ottawa - I am Canadian - and also to the Royal Bank of Canada to ask them to build a ramp at the bank and to electrify the very heavy sets of doors at the post office.
Both parties complied and although I never told anyone what my letter writing had achieved, I was really gratified to watch others get into both buildings independently and it was such a joy for me to be independent too! You are so right - accessibility can and should be mandated by government laws but even then, it is the blessed Holy Spirit of Jesus that speaks to each person so that he or she can change their attitude toward inclusiveness and accessibility. God bless you, Joni!
I appreciate everything you have done and it definitely makes a difference. I was born with an eyesight problem that has left me legally blind. Indiana is a fire at will state. All they do is make up a reason to fire you that has nothing to do with your disability, it has happened with me. What can we do about this?
❤
iam asinger i will be singing in honor of the ADA tommorrow
Joni....I'm kinda like most...how the ....you are so beautiful!
I so wish tho.....
But I guess Jesus is smarter..hard to write..I've followed for years..I am 76.
God continue to bless you...always in my prayers. Hugs
So you worked on ADA? May I ask who's idea it was to exempt churches from Title III? I'm asking because I've recently done a video posing this question: who told churches they could disobey the commandments of Jesus in Luke 14 by hiding behind an exemption from federal law? The one place believing disabled people most want to be is allowed to make decisions to keep them out?
While churches are exempt from ADA requirements, it is our hope that churches would feel compelled to be a welcoming and accessible place for those living with disabilities. If you know of a church looking to become more accessible, please connect them with our ministry by emailing info@joniandfriends.org. Also, if you have more questions, please reach out to us at the email above!
@@JoniandFriendsVideo Thank you for the reply. I share the hope your ministry does. I have seen and heard many pieces of media in which Joni pleads from Luke 14. Even aside from the work on ADA and integration into church bodies, so many disabled people have been blessed by all the hard work and dedicated service of Joni, Ken, and all those who have joined their work over the years. May God continue to bless all of you, and may our abandoned wheelchairs and medical devices crumble quickly after we receive our glorified bodies. The Lord bless and sustain you all!
