I’ve watched so many of your videos because a scammer called my grandpa once telling him my brother was in jail and they needed 3,000 with his name and everything and since my my brother was asleep he wasn’t answering his phone so he panicked went to get the money and everything till he called my mom and she told him it was a scam. My grandpa was so crushed about it cause he felt so silly and old. He passed away a week later... I will never get over that. You are doing amazing work dude.. thank you. I get so much satisfaction out of these.

I recently spent hours convincing an intelligent coworker - early 50s, ex-Navy, computer savvy enough to run a gaming server - that he was walking into a real estate scam, and it took 3 days of research for him to truly believe me. Even knowing better I nearly fell for the "You Qualify For Lowered Interest Rate" scam when it first came out - fortunately I put them on hold and phoned the bank (er, the real one). Scams like "The Canadian Revenue Agency Has Issued A Warrant For Your Arrest For Nonpayment" are genuinely terrifying if you are, for example, a recent immigrant who doesn't know the CRA simply doesn't work that way. All scams have a short shelf-life, so they need to generate new and unexpected scams. The point is, don't get cocky.
I had one going for 3 weeks. He thought I was in love with him. He said we had a "connection". It was so fun to waste his time. Boy was he pissed when he found out. So fun!!

For the record, this wasn't an attack on Indian people as a whole. I live in a neighborhood with a large population of people from India and most are just regular guys. I was just commenting on how this guy specifically was so gross in his behavior. The scammers doing these things deserve to be punished, they ruin lives, but it shouldn't be an excuse to attack them as a people less we forget that there's plenty of Americans doing the same shit.

People's grasp on second languages never fail to amaze me. This guy knows the modern colloquialism "foodie" but didn't realise Kit saying "like my grandson" meant he sounded like his specific grandson not a grandson in general.
I am an Indian and I did not understand why he made that connection. You made an accurate analysis. In most Indian languages people say "you are like my grandson" when they mean "you are like a grandson to me".
I find translations to second languages fascinating as well. In this case though I got the feeling he was using Kit saying ‘like my grandson’ as an opportunity to gain his ‘trust’, using a soft spot that Kit might have for his grandson by saying he would be his grandson. When people like this hear rambling people they seem to assume they may have memory problems and will latch on to anything sentimental.

People's grasp on second languages never fail to amaze me. This guy knows the modern colloquialism "foodie" but didn't realise Kit saying "like my grandson" meant he sounded like his specific grandson not a grandson in general.
Sometimes they say that they're like his grandson unprovoked, it's a manipulation tactic
I am an Indian and I did not understand why he made that connection. You made an accurate analysis. In most Indian languages people say "you are like my grandson" when they mean "you are like a grandson to me".
