I just don't find them interesting and see them as ticking time bombs for another anime game to take it's place. This is a gacha game. There's no true difficulty besides inflated numbers and they use all the same tactics that get players addicted for a few months before dying out. Which I feel is a genuine shame as I do believe you could with the infinite roster of anime characters go to the battle cats route and actually create some interesting gameplay and difficulty while having tons of characters. They just don't want to.
Majority ass, but still think that anime world tower defense still the best and MOST UNDERRATED TD GAME ON ROBLOX, FR, they need 3K players daily for the amount of effort they put it in to make it unique and fun 😭 (The only bad thing is the game being poorly optimized)

AWTD mentioned 👀I've played awtd for a while and only main problems I have is lack of updates and optimisation. Fun fact awtd has a unit called Xeno which drops from one of the hardest stages with an unknown drop chance that people think is like 0.02%. Maybe like less than 100 people have him. I've seen a guy with 5k runs and still doesn't have him. 😭
They really should have not made xeno that rare from a story mode. If it was a legend stage or something then sure maybe atleast I get something useful but all I get from story mode is exp and gold😭
while Xeno is meta due to his passive and insane damage, he is not mandatory to grind for as it's possible to do all content even getting on LBs without him, AWTD is solely based off strategy team building and mayhaps bugs lmao (which differentiates it from all other td games, sad to see it being underrated though)
I hate how the tower defense genre on Roblox is now back in 2020/2021 almost every single tower defense game was not p2w and didn’t need Skibidi toilet or anime characters too pull in their player base I mean all star tower defense was there but it was fine considering it was only one popular anime td game but now people who are not familiar with the genre think that it’s just Skibidi toilet or anime cash grabs

Before you all get mad at me for what I’m going to say, you can enjoy the games and that’s completely fine to me. However, all of these games are objectively bad. Having something as huge as towers being rng in a strategic game is not a good idea. It’s a straight up gacha game. You can place a couple units and basically afk for the whole match. There is no difficulty, it’s just an increase of numbers, They are all clearly cash grabs and premium payout farms. The maps are too long. The lobby is a mess. The game can’t stick to a single theme, towers, maps and lobbies are all different in the wrong ways. Before you have a fit in the comments, remember that YOU CAN ENJOY IT, but it’s not necessarily a good game. (I’ve had *some* fun myself while testing it)

I mean you're not wrong but again this whole rng to get good stuff is still easily something you can look over too due to many sorts of existence of turn based gacha games that require you to get good characters to grind up for it. If you're familiar with "Arknights" you probably won't like it at first but it is a more in depth tower defense game that uses the gacha system and from what i seen the devs are doing is that they're actively trying to make all units viable in some way without having to force them they need to play it for majority of the playerbase time like how Arknights did basically
Awtd is severely underrated and should have a higher player count. It's so different from any other td and actually needs team building and strategizing to actually beat stages it needs more recognition
I absolutely love how everyone is trying to compare this to sols rng and saying “hey cmon guys it’s not that bad” and completely ignoring the whole question and at the end of the day the only thing that separates this from another mindless rng game is that its a tower defense (but you still leave it on overnight for your macro to grind)
I mean yea its a gacha game TD. However unlike Sol's you actually can say you achieved something in the end I would rather a unit over an aura any day of the week. Gacha Td are no different from many other games on the platform hate to say it but ... Adopt Me, Bee Swarm, Pet Sim, Lommian Legacy, Blox Fruits, etc. are game where many use Tiny Task aka macros to do mondain repetitive things for them. It not fair criticism to knock Vanguards, ALS, or even Alt defender for this same thing. I'm not saying this isn't a problem for showing actual active engagement however what's not a problem is wanting to automate something because you ether don't have the time or need a brake. (Not a hate thread just my prospective)
Furry Tower Defense... hmm... that game is too outdated tbh, the game is okay but the tower is only have one face (well, they can make a tower more than just one face) and the UI is so outdated. The biggest problem is... why the dialouge is so cringe in there?
I preferred ASTD to AA, until the rng grinding for raid materials came in, the gacha in ASTD was the only gamble you needed, once you rolled the unit and got it to high levels you were good to go, but with AA, the stats were random AND there were traits on top of that, so I stuck with ASTD since it was more f2p friendly. In fact, I recall playing astd before all the units had to change their names, so I couldn't get super into AA with much worse rng since I was so used to ASTD's relative safeness for rng since I had boat loads of gems.
It can't be stated enough, that AWTD is THE most unique Anime tower defense game with all of its concepts, but it will NEVER receive the recognition it deserves because for the average player it's a little too complex and overwhelming. It's legit the only Anime Tower defense that tried to innovate, but you see what happens when you innovate. These new roblox devs figured out one thing: Why innovate if the same AA formula will work every time? These people that left AA only want to play AA clones at this point and don't actually care to play anything new, its kinda the sad reality, so since that same AA formula works, these Anime Tower defense devs will just keep putting out the same thing pumping out money like nothing. It's really sad when you think about it

This is why I'm starting to enjoy Tower Defense Simulator now, I dont have to gamble to get what I want, and it's such a breath of fresh air from summoning, traits, and stats. It's the only TD game on Roblox that I don't die of bordeom from.

I'm honestly happy you covered this topic (have done so before) as a tower defense genre fan these games have always gotten on my nerves because they don't learn. The anime IP is a blessing and a curse for these games as it doesn't let them focus on the core values of tower defense games and just turn into gacha fests where it's just grinding for stronger units forever. There's no depth or identity beyond it. It's why I always rep games like TDS as they're actually a tower defense game that's attempting to be a tower defense game while still releasing quality maps, towers, events, and balance patches. I genuinely don't understand how people can want to play the same version of a game over 3x times now.
These games are copy and pastes through and through taking the same horrible practices from anime adventures and just replicating it for the sake of it because they know how desperate the "tower defense" community is for an anime adventures replica
Anime vanguards also has some devs from anime adventures and some devs from anime last stand Its getting quality updates but the scripts are messy bc half of the devs working on 2 games

TDS during those rough times in 2020-2021 got carried by what I like to call the "TDS UA-camr Uprising". All of us back then were honestly bored, but we didn't give up on TDS quite yet, so we waited and watched a ton of TDS videos. All the sudden, TDS youtubers were actually getting big. With some reaching 100K+ After the Solar Eclipse update tho... most TDS youtubers became irrelevant and their channels completely flopped after 2021. Now here in 2024, we've actually seen a new wave of heavily growing TDS content creators. Along with some of the older channels that peaked in 2021 that got revived due to TDS being in its peak popularity throughout early-mid 2024. As for us players, youtubers were the only general thing that kept the game alive in the harsh conditions of 2020-2021. Our way of perceiving TDS also drastically changed; we saw TDS as a meme game, not an actually strategy game anymore which is one of the other things I believe that kept the game alive.
To me the thing that makes Anime Vanguards not a instant skip compared to all the other AA clone attempts is the fact that Anime Vanguards releases a Vtuber unit on the release version of the game (most anime TD games either never add a Vtuber unit or add only a single one at a very late version, and its most likely always going to be Gawr Gura alone and without the rest of her group mates, and pretty much never anyone else more unique or slightly less known) So the fact that anime vanguards had the battle pass unit of the release version be Shigure UI and not only that but also made her as the Emote NPC of the game meaning permenantly gonna be visible in the game lobby, showed me they have more unique and special character choises for their units compared to the other AA clones and gives me hope for them to do at some point updates of anime that AA never did (Like Neon Genesis Evangelion and Konosuba)
Im sorry guys but AV is the first TD game i played but i feel like they try to stop us from macroing big levels like igris and 4th stage raid by adding something that'd make it harder to do using tiny task Like: Adding god statues to last act was i believe their motive to prevent ppl from macroing it , its just that ppl are too lazy and find their way somehow 2. They added Medical Chakra feature to prevent macroing in Rengoku raid but they somehow failed there too I think they are trying their best and listening to you i feel like AA was some kind of legacy ( My frnd used to play it he also said the same thing )
If they wanted us to stop macroing they should increase the drop rates for units and add 2x speed. But they're not going to do that because they want us to stay in the game longer for premium payouts, so they actually indirectly want us to macro. About the god statue stuff and sakura stuff, I honestly think they're trying to add a gimmick to make the game semi interesting but it doesn't work because is doesn't impact the game enough
Igris is good but Rengoku is pretty doo doo... and you can beat like 99% of the game without having Igris, but it requires strategy and we know 60-70% of the fan base aren't capable of that. Tbh, I feel getting those 2 (and Alucard) is more of a luck flex rather than must-have units Piss easy to roll for good mythic units too

I truly never got the gameplay of these ANIME TD games You gamble for OP units with a currency that’s hard to get, forcing you to grind and give the devs premium payouts, or just sell literally everything with robux, and then you get garbage, rinse and repeat Once you do infact get said OP units, you afk the rest of the game and wait for a new update to repeat the same cycle It breaks all the core principles of the TD genre, and has flooded it with scummy cashgrabs. My friends have been urging me to play anime defenders, yet they are the same people to hesvily bash on pet sim and sols because “it has good graphics”? Once they play TDS, TDX, or BTD6, they will be shocked to find an actual fun TD game that requires you to think with good graphics
I feel like the main thing why gambling for units is so present is because if the amount of animes. It's pretty hard to think of a way to obtain units without gambling. Tds works without gambling is because of the low of amount of towers they have.
hmm you actually bring a great point up here still im sure there is a way to at least make it somewhat viable without gambling but you'd have build the game a lot differently than it is rn because team composition would have to change
They have low amount of towers because they actually really put their souls and time into these towers, like their animation and models is very polished and high quality very well made.
What you said about the lack of skill and strategy, I completely agree. I barely played AA because of this; from bloons to astd to aa, the sell rate decreased more and more slowly becoming more of a simulator game masked as a tower defense. You spend gems to get units that will help you get more gems with an auto clicker, is this not a simulator??
The funniest theory I stirred up in a pot is that how gamefam and crunchyroll went after AA and AFS because their popular, while-else bnr:R (boku no roblox: Remastered) survived due to its low player base and surviving 200 players, causing it to hide in the shadows. i get that a lot of people spent a lot of money on anime adventures, but honestly i was happy when it got taken down. manipulating children into rolling endlessly for singular units (or even gambling for them) and racking up electricity bills by having them afk on your game is insane. literally every anime themed tower defense is just boring/repetitive and grindy with varying levels of time required to play. at the very least these games could actually focus on strategy beyond just getting the best units and looking up guides, but oh well.

7:44 i got ONE thing, ONE reason i kept playing AA. It was because of the weekly tournaments (Yap session ahead) If you ignored THAT single gamemode which was basically the pvp of the game: AA's Weekly tournament was basically players who are trying to become the #1 player of the leaderboards so they can get some interesting unit with cosmetics that they could use or trade. "But isnt that just basically the normal leaderbord stuff???", well heres what makes it interesting. Every week, theres new challenges to face with other people that could be: do the most amount of kills, survive the most amount of waves, this specific element type does more damage/does less damage, etc., and everyones favorite. Traitless run. This Gamemode was the only one that gave strategy to the game. Every player looking for units to use, what unit is good, or bad for the gamemode. This was one of the BEST competitive gamemode AA had. In my conclusion. AA was the best Anime Tower defense game OAT. (L yapper)

I don't know if you've played this but you should, it's called build a nuke factory and destroy the world tycoon, it's a tycoon and it doesnt really innovate that idea, but it seems like a passion project, there are voice lines, animations and even drawing your own country flag.
I feel like now that Anime Vanguards is out, people like me, who LOVED AA and grinded it not stop purely because I found it fun and rewarding, even as a pretty much free to play (VIP and sometimes battlepasses) (other than my 200+ eclipse portals without a secret) are no longer going to seek out new anime TD games. We’ve got that AA feeling again, so now the void left in December has been filled, and we are happy.

I will say that Anime Vanguards and Anime Defenders were in the making for more than 8 months. Furthermore, Vanguards had already almost 300,000 People waiting in the discord and Defenders having 200,000 People. The only reason why there is “alot” of tower defence games is because most of them are either rushed which makes them look unpolished, with lots of bugs, glitches and etc. (No hate to other td games btw)
I think that the devs of these games are creating dupes of these games. For example Anime Reborn, Anime Vanguards, Anime Last Stands, and Anime Defenders all have extremely similar fonts, color themes, characters, animations, features and have so much similarity it feels like youre playing the same game. So I'm guessing its the same creators milking the same game by making new ones with very slight changes.
I hate that if you dont use tinytask the game becomes almost unplayable for anime vanguards. Like it takes hours to level up or to evolve a single unit or get a unit to lvl 50
You can't call ASTD original when theres other anime td games before that. All of them are tower defense games, they copy other games and put their own twists, thats it.
For some people who don't, AV actually has some of the staff members from AA (anime adventures). That's why the game Anime Vanguards is so similiar to Anime Adventures, because they just got some of the asets from AA, making Anime Vanguards just Anime Adventures 2. I even checked the other day, and the admins/moderators from the Anime Adventures server is also in Anime Vanguards as 'developers'.
I hope they don't get into the death loop of adding more characters that deal more DMG over the previous ones over again in every update. at least make characters that aren't overpowered but can profits your loadout in some ways. Make them unique !

These new tower defense games are just all the same. Example would be that there so called “secret” units aren’t actually “secret” units, you can get literally get them through gems requiring you to grind the game lots or by spending big amount of money instead of doing some sort of requirement. Back when AA was still up you’ll rarely see players with secret units.
These Anime TD game just have the same formula of grind for the strongest tower and win. On the other hand TDS is very different since you can't just get the strongest tower and win, you still need to think in highly stressful situation (I haven't even been able to solo some mode because even though it still the same structure wave, it's still stressful)
My biggest issue with ALS is the fact that u cant beat the game without overlord trait or higher cause the game just isnt possible without it whoch is sad
If you love tower defense games with microtransactions with zero effect on the gameplay then play Tower Defense Simulator. Because Tower Defense Simulator is the only classical Roblox Tower Defense that didn't use things such as 2x Exp or 2x Money. But if you love Anime and you love macro-ing then play Anime Vanguards. However, it depends on you. I don't blame you for which game is bad or good. In my personal opinion, I still love Tower Defense Simulator even Anime Vanguards release. Because I didn't watch Anime at all and it's the same concept as Anime Vanguards except with no gambling system. I also forgot that Anime Tower Defense is popular because it has more towers to use than the Tower Defense Simulator. Plus, it is so flashy to see. However, it's unfortunate that Anime Tower Defense (Except Anime Defenders) isn't in the Roblox Innovation Awards, but we'll be in the future. Sorry for yapping too long.
Anime Vanguards is also extremely generous, I've gotten 100+ trait rerolls from update 0.5 alone. Comparing that to Anime Adventures, it took me multiple updates to get over 100 trait rerolls AS A P2W. AA is esentially Genshin Impact and AV is Wuthering Waves in terms of generosity. AV also seems to be going in the right direction in terms of content, having challenges that are anti-p2w such as the traitless event.
For some reason, Vanguards was the only Tower Defense that hooked me in, tried ASTD on release, didn't work, Anime Adventures, nay. So personally, it's the best for me at a deeper level

honestly, Vanguards And world tower defence have been a very calming and enjoyable experience for me, way better than yelling at my screen over some bs in the live service games of today
My first TD game was ASTD and i was one of the OG players in there when it got released in a month, that game used to be so good and I used to remember bunch of players used to play ASTD and nearly broke with 300k - 400k players during the first xmas update, i used to play that game everyday after school and it was so fun. ASTD is not even P2W more like F2W due most players don't even spend money in that game at all just only grind and enjoy, had to say the grind is kind of difficult especially for 7 stars. I can't believe I am still lvl over 180 not even max even tho I was an OG player but due to exam and haven't played rbx for a year and half made me fallen behind and everything changed but I got used to it and ngl this game was better + there were no traits like other TD games is pnly about pure grind, team work and just put boost orbs on each unit. Man I wish ASTD get his players back with a big upd.
I really like the 'Anime TD' genre. The devs using gambling methods in their games is not really a problem to me as I can macro. Its fun getting units from anime youve watched and continuously increasing your collection to 100% every update. I understand it will get repetetive and for some that makes it boring, but for me I dont really feel it, Ill play for a couple hours, maybe play something else or take a 30 minute break and just come back. I dont feel any of the fatigue. Also I feel a reason why people like these is literally because it doesnt require a huge amount of dedication to learning or increasing skill, meaning youre not really investing that much into it, therefore making it easier to play. Adding to this, most of the time it doesnt require you full attention, unlike other games, so you can multitask playing the game and doing homework or home workout. Whilst some people care about the devs getting money from kids and gambling addicts I dont really care because it doesnt affect me and who am I to say they cant get their bag? Predatory tactics exist to make money and theyre literallY EVERYWHERE. Not to mention, if a 6 year old is spending money on a robux for the game, chances are the parents let that happen. Its not really a big issue. And yes, this does affect the front page because the game is popular so others will follow suit and employ similar tactics in their games, but you dont have to play these and sure they are taking the spotlight away from the subjectively good games that have close to no players, but THAT doesnt stop you from playing those games yourself either. Lastly, people have the right to bash whatever games they want and im not against that, but it would be nice if people wouldnt mock someone for playing a game they might not be fans of, its immature and pointless.
I am happy that tower defense take the spotlight in roblox category nowadays thanks to Anime Adventures influenced, because back in the days among other categories, tower defense is the smallest community and if we rate the highest genre in roblox it’ll be like this. 1. Battleground (Bloxfruit is the example) 2. Simulator (Petsimx is the example) 3. Roleplaying (Adopt me is the example) Despite of Anime Adventures only has 50-70k average player every day, they impact a lot of developer not just Anime Tower Defense genre, and that is because of how insane the graphics, details and ui innovation the game has that many other game doesn’t have that time, the level of graphics and details to the map is not typical graphics you’ve ever seen in roblox. New generation always surpass the old generation but Anime Adventure is ahead of its time, if that game didn’t got shutdown, Anime Adventure will takeoever the tower defense genre ‘till this day. This is the first time i joined discord too because their discord server is organized and the mods/staff are well disciplined unlike Anime Vanguard they’re all have a pride and ego also Anime Adventure doesn’t have a problem interms of optimization despite of having insane graphics to lobby and map while tower defense nowadays always have a bugs, that’s why Anime Adventure is very well crafted game, made by passion, hopefully Script and Stray make another game, it doesn’t need to be a tower defense game again, i’ll still play it eventho a lot of players already forgot them, im a person who always support a developer that gives a really high quality game, yes other games always give their best to make a high quality game but they’re lack of optimization, Anime Vanguard take too long to optimize the game but look at the game right now, it always has a bug, from a delayguard nickname to a bugguard nickname, overall i’ll still play it, we also has one last tower defense on the list and that is Anime Reborn.
honestly, there should be a new sub-category; RNG-defenses because all of this anime TD stuff is not even a tower defense game. it's just sol's rng but you're playing a tower defense game.
Should be noted that while gamefam did lead to the reason of shutdown for AA, it was entirely the devs' decision to shut down despite even having new models made for the MHA characters.
Although I personally don’t like anime tower defense games that much, I think the best game to do it so far has been anime vanguards with the gem accessibility you mentioned earlier, and also being able to get a powerful unit like igris for free, although a bit of tiny task might be necessary 😅
I feel like you forgot the biggest aspect of most tds games which is the aspect of trading, trading in AA was big, so huge to the point people would drop 200,000 robux on rerolls just to get a dio over heaven in the game. theres also the economy of anime defenders being so horribly inflated, blackmarket servers sell 50M gems for 500 robux or 5 dollars.
You absolutely don't need good characters for vanguards, you can clear almost everything with legendaries, hell there have been people clearing endgame stuff with epics Vanguards isn't grindy at all compared to other TD games unless you really want igris

AWTD mentioned 👀I've played awtd for a while and only main problems I have is lack of updates and optimisation. Fun fact awtd has a unit called Xeno which drops from one of the hardest stages with an unknown drop chance that people think is like 0.02%. Maybe like less than 100 people have him. I've seen a guy with 5k runs and still doesn't have him. 😭
Luckily while Xeno is meta, he isn't the best unit in the game and can do anything except inf without him.
They really should have not made xeno that rare from a story mode. If it was a legend stage or something then sure maybe atleast I get something useful but all I get from story mode is exp and gold😭

while Xeno is meta due to his passive and insane damage, he is not mandatory to grind for as it's possible to do all content even getting on LBs without him, AWTD is solely based off strategy team building and mayhaps bugs lmao (which differentiates it from all other td games, sad to see it being underrated though)

I hate how the tower defense genre on Roblox is now back in 2020/2021 almost every single tower defense game was not p2w and didn’t need Skibidi toilet or anime characters too pull in their player base I mean all star tower defense was there but it was fine considering it was only one popular anime td game but now people who are not familiar with the genre think that it’s just Skibidi toilet or anime cash grabs

Before you all get mad at me for what I’m going to say, you can enjoy the games and that’s completely fine to me.
However, all of these games are objectively bad. Having something as huge as towers being rng in a strategic game is not a good idea. It’s a straight up gacha game. You can place a couple units and basically afk for the whole match. There is no difficulty, it’s just an increase of numbers, They are all clearly cash grabs and premium payout farms. The maps are too long. The lobby is a mess. The game can’t stick to a single theme, towers, maps and lobbies are all different in the wrong ways.
Before you have a fit in the comments, remember that YOU CAN ENJOY IT, but it’s not necessarily a good game. (I’ve had *some* fun myself while testing it)

I mean you're not wrong but again this whole rng to get good stuff is still easily something you can look over too due to many sorts of existence of turn based gacha games that require you to get good characters to grind up for it. If you're familiar with "Arknights" you probably won't like it at first but it is a more in depth tower defense game that uses the gacha system and from what i seen the devs are doing is that they're actively trying to make all units viable in some way without having to force them they need to play it for majority of the playerbase time like how Arknights did basically

I mean yea its a gacha game TD. However unlike Sol's you actually can say you achieved something in the end I would rather a unit over an aura any day of the week. Gacha Td are no different from many other games on the platform hate to say it but ... Adopt Me, Bee Swarm, Pet Sim, Lommian Legacy, Blox Fruits, etc. are game where many use Tiny Task aka macros to do mondain repetitive things for them. It not fair criticism to knock Vanguards, ALS, or even Alt defender for this same thing. I'm not saying this isn't a problem for showing actual active engagement however what's not a problem is wanting to automate something because you ether don't have the time or need a brake. (Not a hate thread just my prospective)

I preferred ASTD to AA, until the rng grinding for raid materials came in, the gacha in ASTD was the only gamble you needed, once you rolled the unit and got it to high levels you were good to go, but with AA, the stats were random AND there were traits on top of that, so I stuck with ASTD since it was more f2p friendly.
In fact, I recall playing astd before all the units had to change their names, so I couldn't get super into AA with much worse rng since I was so used to ASTD's relative safeness for rng since I had boat loads of gems.
It can't be stated enough, that AWTD is THE most unique Anime tower defense game with all of its concepts, but it will NEVER receive the recognition it deserves because for the average player it's a little too complex and overwhelming. It's legit the only Anime Tower defense that tried to innovate, but you see what happens when you innovate. These new roblox devs figured out one thing: Why innovate if the same AA formula will work every time? These people that left AA only want to play AA clones at this point and don't actually care to play anything new, its kinda the sad reality, so since that same AA formula works, these Anime Tower defense devs will just keep putting out the same thing pumping out money like nothing. It's really sad when you think about it

This is why I'm starting to enjoy Tower Defense Simulator now, I dont have to gamble to get what I want, and it's such a breath of fresh air from summoning, traits, and stats. It's the only TD game on Roblox that I don't die of bordeom from.

I'm honestly happy you covered this topic (have done so before) as a tower defense genre fan these games have always gotten on my nerves because they don't learn.
The anime IP is a blessing and a curse for these games as it doesn't let them focus on the core values of tower defense games and just turn into gacha fests where it's just grinding for stronger units forever. There's no depth or identity beyond it.
It's why I always rep games like TDS as they're actually a tower defense game that's attempting to be a tower defense game while still releasing quality maps, towers, events, and balance patches.

TDS during those rough times in 2020-2021 got carried by what I like to call the "TDS UA-camr Uprising". All of us back then were honestly bored, but we didn't give up on TDS quite yet, so we waited and watched a ton of TDS videos. All the sudden, TDS youtubers were actually getting big. With some reaching 100K+
After the Solar Eclipse update tho... most TDS youtubers became irrelevant and their channels completely flopped after 2021.
Now here in 2024, we've actually seen a new wave of heavily growing TDS content creators. Along with some of the older channels that peaked in 2021 that got revived due to TDS being in its peak popularity throughout early-mid 2024.
As for us players, youtubers were the only general thing that kept the game alive in the harsh conditions of 2020-2021. Our way of perceiving TDS also drastically changed; we saw TDS as a meme game, not an actually strategy game anymore which is one of the other things I believe that kept the game alive.

To me the thing that makes Anime Vanguards not a instant skip compared to all the other AA clone attempts is the fact that Anime Vanguards releases a Vtuber unit on the release version of the game (most anime TD games either never add a Vtuber unit or add only a single one at a very late version, and its most likely always going to be Gawr Gura alone and without the rest of her group mates, and pretty much never anyone else more unique or slightly less known)
So the fact that anime vanguards had the battle pass unit of the release version be Shigure UI and not only that but also made her as the Emote NPC of the game meaning permenantly gonna be visible in the game lobby, showed me they have more unique and special character choises for their units compared to the other AA clones and gives me hope for them to do at some point updates of anime that AA never did (Like Neon Genesis Evangelion and Konosuba)

If they wanted us to stop macroing they should increase the drop rates for units and add 2x speed. But they're not going to do that because they want us to stay in the game longer for premium payouts, so they actually indirectly want us to macro. About the god statue stuff and sakura stuff, I honestly think they're trying to add a gimmick to make the game semi interesting but it doesn't work because is doesn't impact the game enough

I feel like the main thing why gambling for units is so present is because if the amount of animes. It's pretty hard to think of a way to obtain units without gambling. Tds works without gambling is because of the low of amount of towers they have.

i get that a lot of people spent a lot of money on anime adventures, but honestly i was happy when it got taken down. manipulating children into rolling endlessly for singular units (or even gambling for them) and racking up electricity bills by having them afk on your game is insane. literally every anime themed tower defense is just boring/repetitive and grindy with varying levels of time required to play. at the very least these games could actually focus on strategy beyond just getting the best units and looking up guides, but oh well.

If you ignored THAT single gamemode which was basically the pvp of the game: AA's Weekly tournament was basically players who are trying to become the #1 player of the leaderboards so they can get some interesting unit with cosmetics that they could use or trade. "But isnt that just basically the normal leaderbord stuff???", well heres what makes it interesting. Every week, theres new challenges to face with other people that could be: do the most amount of kills, survive the most amount of waves, this specific element type does more damage/does less damage, etc., and everyones favorite. Traitless run. This Gamemode was the only one that gave strategy to the game. Every player looking for units to use, what unit is good, or bad for the gamemode. This was one of the BEST competitive gamemode AA had.
In my conclusion. AA was the best Anime Tower defense game OAT. (L yapper)

I don't know if you've played this but you should, it's called build a nuke factory and destroy the world tycoon, it's a tycoon and it doesnt really innovate that idea, but it seems like a passion project, there are voice lines, animations and even drawing your own country flag.
Tbh vanguards is a better copy then anime adventures like aa was good but not so good till the point that it will forever be the best
I feel like now that Anime Vanguards is out, people like me, who LOVED AA and grinded it not stop purely because I found it fun and rewarding, even as a pretty much free to play (VIP and sometimes battlepasses) (other than my 200+ eclipse portals without a secret) are no longer going to seek out new anime TD games. We’ve got that AA feeling again, so now the void left in December has been filled, and we are happy.
yeah uhh, I say that anime tower defense games are mid asl, play any tower defense game, (except ANY skibidi toilet ones) like TDX or TDS, I mean sure it’s not as flashy and bright as anime tower defense games, but they get the job done, and WELL.
Every Anime TD games biggest problem was making each updates make the previous ones still usable, i played AA from release before i eventually quit on 7DS update.

I will say that Anime Vanguards and Anime Defenders were in the making for more than 8 months. Furthermore, Vanguards had already almost 300,000 People waiting in the discord and Defenders having 200,000 People. The only reason why there is “alot” of tower defence games is because most of them are either rushed which makes them look unpolished, with lots of bugs, glitches and etc. (No hate to other td games btw)

I think that the devs of these games are creating dupes of these games. For example Anime Reborn, Anime Vanguards, Anime Last Stands, and Anime Defenders all have extremely similar fonts, color themes, characters, animations, features and have so much similarity it feels like youre playing the same game. So I'm guessing its the same creators milking the same game by making new ones with very slight changes.
Anime Vanguard is actually a better Anime Adventure imo, it's more F2P friendly AND has a better QoL than Anime Adventure.

For some people who don't, AV actually has some of the staff members from AA (anime adventures). That's why the game Anime Vanguards is so similiar to Anime Adventures, because they just got some of the asets from AA, making Anime Vanguards just Anime Adventures 2. I even checked the other day, and the admins/moderators from the Anime Adventures server is also in Anime Vanguards as 'developers'.

These new tower defense games are just all the same. Example would be that there so called “secret” units aren’t actually “secret” units, you can get literally get them through gems requiring you to grind the game lots or by spending big amount of money instead of doing some sort of requirement.
Back when AA was still up you’ll rarely see players with secret units.

These Anime TD game just have the same formula of grind for the strongest tower and win. On the other hand TDS is very different since you can't just get the strongest tower and win, you still need to think in highly stressful situation (I haven't even been able to solo some mode because even though it still the same structure wave, it's still stressful)

My biggest issue with ALS is the fact that u cant beat the game without overlord trait or higher cause the game just isnt possible without it whoch is sad
If you love tower defense games with microtransactions with zero effect on the gameplay then play Tower Defense Simulator. Because Tower Defense Simulator is the only classical Roblox Tower Defense that didn't use things such as 2x Exp or 2x Money. But if you love Anime and you love macro-ing then play Anime Vanguards. However, it depends on you. I don't blame you for which game is bad or good. In my personal opinion, I still love Tower Defense Simulator even Anime Vanguards release. Because I didn't watch Anime at all and it's the same concept as Anime Vanguards except with no gambling system. I also forgot that Anime Tower Defense is popular because it has more towers to use than the Tower Defense Simulator. Plus, it is so flashy to see. However, it's unfortunate that Anime Tower Defense (Except Anime Defenders) isn't in the Roblox Innovation Awards, but we'll be in the future.

Anime Vanguards is also extremely generous, I've gotten 100+ trait rerolls from update 0.5 alone. Comparing that to Anime Adventures, it took me multiple updates to get over 100 trait rerolls AS A P2W. AA is esentially Genshin Impact and AV is Wuthering Waves in terms of generosity. AV also seems to be going in the right direction in terms of content, having challenges that are anti-p2w such as the traitless event.

Well said bro im a fan of anime vanguards though. I have been taking a break after the long macro sessions and instead im enjoying undertale adventures which, if you like Undertale and Tower defenses i recommend you check it out if you havent already!
honestly, Vanguards And world tower defence have been a very calming and enjoyable experience for me, way better than yelling at my screen over some bs in the live service games of today

These Anime TD games are so popular because it's just a chill secondary game. It's something to shut your brain off and feed the craving for gambling.
My first TD game was ASTD and i was one of the OG players in there when it got released in a month, that game used to be so good and I used to remember bunch of players used to play ASTD and nearly broke with 300k - 400k players during the first xmas update, i used to play that game everyday after school and it was so fun. ASTD is not even P2W more like F2W due most players don't even spend money in that game at all just only grind and enjoy, had to say the grind is kind of difficult especially for 7 stars. I can't believe I am still lvl over 180 not even max even tho I was an OG player but due to exam and haven't played rbx for a year and half made me fallen behind and everything changed but I got used to it and ngl this game was better + there were no traits like other TD games is pnly about pure grind, team work and just put boost orbs on each unit.
Man I wish ASTD get his players back with a big upd.
I really like the 'Anime TD' genre.
The devs using gambling methods in their games is not really a problem to me as I can macro. Its fun getting units from anime youve watched and continuously increasing your collection to 100% every update.
I understand it will get repetetive and for some that makes it boring, but for me I dont really feel it, Ill play for a couple hours, maybe play something else or take a 30 minute break and just come back. I dont feel any of the fatigue.
Also I feel a reason why people like these is literally because it doesnt require a huge amount of dedication to learning or increasing skill, meaning youre not really investing that much into it, therefore making it easier to play.
Adding to this, most of the time it doesnt require you full attention, unlike other games, so you can multitask playing the game and doing homework or home workout.
Whilst some people care about the devs getting money from kids and gambling addicts I dont really care because it doesnt affect me and who am I to say they cant get their bag? Predatory tactics exist to make money and theyre literallY EVERYWHERE. Not to mention, if a 6 year old is spending money on a robux for the game, chances are the parents let that happen. Its not really a big issue.
And yes, this does affect the front page because the game is popular so others will follow suit and employ similar tactics in their games, but you dont have to play these and sure they are taking the spotlight away from the subjectively good games that have close to no players, but THAT doesnt stop you from playing those games yourself either.
Lastly, people have the right to bash whatever games they want and im not against that, but it would be nice if people wouldnt mock someone for playing a game they might not be fans of, its immature and pointless.
I am happy that tower defense take the spotlight in roblox category nowadays thanks to Anime Adventures influenced, because back in the days among other categories, tower defense is the smallest community and if we rate the highest genre in roblox it’ll be like this.

Despite of Anime Adventures only has 50-70k average player every day, they impact a lot of developer not just Anime Tower Defense genre, and that is because of how insane the graphics, details and ui innovation the game has that many other game doesn’t have that time, the level of graphics and details to the map is not typical graphics you’ve ever seen in roblox. New generation always surpass the old generation but Anime Adventure is ahead of its time, if that game didn’t got shutdown, Anime Adventure will takeoever the tower defense genre ‘till this day. This is the first time i joined discord too because their discord server is organized and the mods/staff are well disciplined unlike Anime Vanguard they’re all have a pride and ego also Anime Adventure doesn’t have a problem interms of optimization despite of having insane graphics to lobby and map while tower defense nowadays always have a bugs, that’s why Anime Adventure is very well crafted game, made by passion, hopefully Script and Stray make another game, it doesn’t need to be a tower defense game again, i’ll still play it eventho a lot of players already forgot them, im a person who always support a developer that gives a really high quality game, yes other games always give their best to make a high quality game but they’re lack of optimization, Anime Vanguard take too long to optimize the game but look at the game right now, it always has a bug, from a delayguard nickname to a bugguard nickname, overall i’ll still play it, we also has one last tower defense on the list and that is Anime Reborn.

Although I personally don’t like anime tower defense games that much, I think the best game to do it so far has been anime vanguards with the gem accessibility you mentioned earlier, and also being able to get a powerful unit like igris for free, although a bit of tiny task might be necessary 😅
We gonna forget that for once a gacha system has a pity to get good units (mythic pity).
I feel like you forgot the biggest aspect of most tds games which is the aspect of trading, trading in AA was big, so huge to the point people would drop 200,000 robux on rerolls just to get a dio over heaven in the game. theres also the economy of anime defenders being so horribly inflated, blackmarket servers sell 50M gems for 500 robux or 5 dollars.
You absolutely don't need good characters for vanguards, you can clear almost everything with legendaries, hell there have been people clearing endgame stuff with epics
