It's indeed from Children of the Sea, a movie I was lucky enough to see in a cinema (it was released during the pandemic) because it really deserved to be seen on the big screen, such a cinematic experience. Incredibly beautiful. Tbh I'm a bit surprised to see you react to this because it's not a super popular anime, I rarely see people talk about it.

This movie is criminally underrated, I rarely see anyone mention it. It's incredible.
"Ghost of the Sea" is a movie that continues to ask the audience where life comes from and where it returns. The animation and music are beautiful, and the story is esoteric.
I had this on repeat for a whole month when this came out. Such a beautiful song. And altho the movie was a condensed version of the manga, it blew me away as the manga i was reading came alive with the intense color and soundtrack.
The drop before the last verse is nearly orgasmic. That euphoric crescendo just floors me every single time
a amazing movie, for the animation, the music all the character. deserved to watch this
What I understood from this film is that the protagonist "Ruka" is something like the mother of one of the children, specifically "Umi" who at the end seems to be born but instead dies.

I watched this movie in theatres on Japanese film festival ... The experience was very different from anything I've ever watched . A lot of people actually got off from their seats near the climax since this movie has no exact defined plot , that what makes it so beautiful , it let's the audience interpret it their way . A one of a kind cinematic experience.
