to the beginners, although this does seem complicated, take it slowly. remember that the size of your crochet hook can change the size of the stitch, making it bigger or smaller (because the stitches will be tighter with the 4mm and a little looser with the 4.5mm). if you use a DK (double knit) yarn, with a 4mm hook, and then again with a 4.5mm hook, your bootie will be bigger with the 4.5mm hook. so, take note of what size hook is being used and what thickness of yarn. :)
Thank you! I’m 11 years old and when I checked out this video it didn’t seem hard at all, I’m not a beginner and I’m making this for my little brother he’s 3 months old
What a great tutorial!!!! I am a beginner still learning the terms and I was able to follow through, with the wording up top and how you left the pace slow for at least the first couple stitches! This was fantastic!!! I still have a hard time reading patterns so this made it much more understandable. Thank you so much!!! Please continue doing these tutorials your are great at them!
designed to resemble the famous Converse sneakers "Chuck Taylor All-Stars." This crochet pattern is available in several different languages, including English, Swedish, and Spanish. The pattern is available
I've tried other patterns and the booties are always way too big even after adjusting yarn weight and hook size but this one is spot on! Thank you for sharing!
YES! I already made it just like your! I am already in love those little shoes. Guess somebody have a baby fever ☺️😊. You made it very clear in this video. Thank you for your time and show us how to make them. You did 💯% keep it up!!!!
Thank you for this video. The instructions were perfect, I had no problems with them. I do think it might be for the more experienced crochet persons though. I really did like it.
These baby booties are lovely, thanks for sharing this free pattern! I still have to improve my crochet technique, mine aren't so cute like yours but I´m doing progress.
Thank you so much for taking the time to do your tutorials I also bought the pattern so it is so good to see the tutorial to help me as I follow the pattern ... so cute love them 💜
I had to redo the shoes a couple of times because the numbering didn't come out right, I think after every round you should say how many stiches we should end up with so we can get a better result😊
maybe your error was on the beginning of each roll... if you look closely, the number of stitches is always the same... the trick is that once you start at the first stitch you should jump the last one... so the starter point will always be the same.... hope it helps!
I agree with you. I think It will help a lot if she mentions the number of stiches at the end of each round. I am doing the count myself. Iam having a little trouble with the strap. She start at stich 11 and sc in the next 2. My trouble is should I count the 11 stich as first one or the first one sc as 1.
pat Bosher , Hi I was doing the count on each round. Upper part Round 1 ( 44). R2 (44). R3 ( 38). R4( 32). R5( 27). I hope it helps to finish the project.
Thank you so much for this tutorial i have been looking at so many but yours is the best my far! Super beginner friendly as I only started crochet a few days ago. Thanks again the end result is amazing !!! :)
@ Croby patterns …..I tried slip stitching all around the loops outside the sole and it was faster too & looks like it was patterned that way…lol ..If you want to try it that way … I’m starting on my 2nd bootie now. For a dr and his wife(she’s a lawyer) I made a loop stitch vest for their soon to be baby boy and this looks good with it thanks for your upload.
If you click on the top right of the video, you will then see three dots click on these, then you will see playback speed option. Hope this helps !, you can make it slower or faster. Great pattern thank you for sharing. 😊
I downloaded the video and printed the pattern, as I began working on the sole I noticed there were some difference in the number of stitches at ends. Which is correct? The video or the written pattern??
Made many of these booties. The written one is very different from the video! The video is great and correct, but the written one is not so correct. That is my opinion.
Thank you so much for your tutorial. Love it! Cute and nice...I have made it as a gift. It was my first time crocheting baby booties and I think the strap part is a little tricky for me.😁
O I know people call things different from different place but when you said start with a magic ring I got nervous and was about to not even look at the video because I have a hard time with those plus I didn't understand why a magic ring for booties but when you started I understood. What U did is called a slip knot, not a magic ring. Going to get my yarn on Friday. THANK U.
Hiya, at the start of the video you called your slip knot a magic ring. A magic ring is created for the centre of a circle a slip knot is created as a starting chain x
She did add the written pattern in the description box incase any of you are having trouble following along. I loved these 😊 I made them for a little boy. I used a 4.25 mm hook G/6 hook. I got a 4in.sole. it's a good size for a 3-6m old.
Wow !! I just found your channel and I am so excited to see all your awesome tutorials !! 15th grand baby on the way.. He needs warmie feets !! I have subscribed !! Thank you for all your efforts in creating these darling items and sharing the patterns and tutorials .. !!! : >
I'm having such difficulty between this video and the written pattern. In the video you say to do 5 hdc into the last stitch in the first round of the sole, and in the written pattern it says to put 6 hdc into the last stitch in the first round of the sole. I followed the written pattern the second time around and knew immediately after a few rows in something wasn't right. It looked larger than the first sole and as I continued with the written pattern, the stitch count was out once I reached the first hdc tog round. I love these booties, but it would help heaps if you could fix these issues. Edit - Just noticed that during the steps for the strap, you say to do 24 hdc for the last round, but on the screen it says 22 hdc....
Thanks for this wonderful tutorial..... I just loved it..... I would like to make baby boots for my 10 month old baby .. May I know what yarn and hook I should use for this same pattern??
I hope you can answered this question I have been wanting to know.....When making baby clothes do you always have to use the baby yarn....or can I use any yarn?...Would it not be soft enough if I do not use the baby yarn offered in the stores...the colors are so limited....thank you in advance for reply and for sharing your talent.
If you are beginner, don't use this video. I have done a few crochet projects, so I am a bit beyond beginner. I wish you would have slowed down and explained things more in detail. I gave up after the (hdc2tog, hdc 2)-just too fast to even replay over and over and over. Super cute booties, but definitely not as easy as the title portrays.
I agree with this. I'm not a beginner, but this video is a bit flawed and if I were a beginner, I would have struggled. I had to undo a few things because what was written on the screen was not the same as what she said verbally. For example, at one point the screen says "sc 22", but she is saying "single crochet 24"... So, which is it? If you are a more advanced crocheter, you can do it and figure out what works, but if I were just starting out, I would have not been able to decipher this on my own. Years of practice has helped me be able to figure patterns out when I get to a tricky part, but this video is not good for beginners.
Im beginner, this is my first time i do crochet, after replay several times i have it done. it is absolutely not so beautiful but it quite looks like booties 😂
I love them and been crocheting few, for present and my own baby. I just think you made a mistake with HDC2tog and DCtog, because it means to crochet 2 times hdc or dc in one stitch, but rather what you showing here is HDCdec and DCdec, decreasing stitches. Anyways, thank you!!
Hi! Hdc2tog and dc2tog can mean both. The most common use of those two abbreviations is for the decreasing, so to join two stitches together. :D At least that is what I found in my crochet books. :D But the most important thing here is that you liked the tutorial and it was useful to you! :D :)
These are so cute to make. We just had 3 new babies born in the past few months. 2 boys and 1 girl. They got there blankets from aunty know for there cloths. 😁
hola. enhorabuena por los tutoriales tan bien esplicados, da gusto hacer todos tus proyectos. en ningun tutorial suben las pasadas como lo haces tu que son casi invisibles. Muchas gracias. un saludo.
Hi, This video shoes the sole being made with 5HDC in the last chain of the first side and 3HDC into the last stitch of round 1. The sole video shows 6HDC in the last chain of the first side and 2HDC into the last stitch of the round. What difference do these make and what one is best to use? x
Hi, thank you for sharing this tutorial! I don't understand how the stitches look so perfect to you... when I do the decreases at the front part of the boot I get litle holes...my boot doesn't look so perfect as yours :( do you have any advice? Thank you in advance!
I love the shoe but the written pattern and the video do not match up, in round 1 you said to put 5 hdc in last stitch but on the pattern i am following it says to put 6 and then it says to put 2 hdc in last but in your video it says 3, so now i am confused because i really wanted to make this pattern but the written pattern and video don't match
The tutorial was amazing!!! Please can u tell what are the changes if the child is a year old. I am planning on making these for my boyfriend's cousin who's turning 1 soon!!
Thank you so very much for sharing. Like others I too found it a bit hard to follow along and had to keep rewinding sections of the video to catch what you were saying and doing in places. I'd like you to slow down a little especially in tricky spots. And it would help if you repeat instructions at least once. It's great you include written directions too. That helps but I think your videos would be improved if you went a little slower and explained more. Thanks for the cute baby shoe. Love it!
Blue Whale Pattern is one of my older videos, I think I go much slower in my newer tutorials. And if the tutorial is still too fast, UA-cam has this option in the right corner or the video, if you click on the Settings, called Speed, where you can make the video go a few times faster or slower. :)

This is the best pair of booties.Your instructions are perfect, I will certainly make one. Thank you.
I've tried other patterns and the booties are always way too big even after adjusting yarn weight and hook size but this one is spot on! Thank you for sharing!
It's the exact opposite for me, my baby is 4 months old but his feet are 11cm so I am struggling to find a good pattern that will fit him.
Thanks you so much Doroteja !! you have a french fan now !! Keep creating tutos for us
