I was at this gig, what a moment. John Petrucci was stellar, as always. Everybody seems so focused on the one single note he missed (on a very rare occasion) they easily forget the ones he doesn't. The man's a monster of technique and finesse...
Can't wait to see the mastered live recording of this concert! Yeah, that first note on the solo sounded weird, but to focus on that is to miss the forest for the trees. Everyone sounds fantastic here, and I like that they took all the best versions of this song and wrapped them into one for this tour: the longer verses from the radio edit, the intro and solo sections from Live at Budokan and the extended keyboard solo on the outro.
Yes, he missed the first two notes. But I have listened to every single live rendition of this solo that has been recorded by either audience or professional camera. This one is by far the best. In the future, when DT fans think of the Hollow Years solo, they will think of the Paris version.
8:20 - 😈 8:29 "Ben alors John ??!" 😂 ( = So what John ?) The mistake had the advantage to release the tension and the beast, the improvisation then was amazing ! Same level than is "Budokan" They will correct the little wrong notes in post-prod aha
I felt John seemed a bit "nervous" here from the start. Only THEN I read the other comments and saw that I was not alone 😂 Then again: Imagine being a player on his level with fans like "us" - super critical - and then being expected to blast out a top notch performance, even for your OWN standards "on demand" - because there's a bunch of 4K cameras for a live release in your face... but hey - no pressure 😂 That said: As this solo develops, you can see how he shifted into top gear for this special occasion.
I hope they don't re-record that mistake at the start of the solo 😄 Those kind of things are one of the best things about live music IMO. Everyone makes mistakes!
@@hefciooo yea when you count all the notes he played it's a drop of water but everyone has noticed... Poor Petrucci. On the blue ray or not? Betting time is open!

For 61yrs old thats so amazing😮❤
Look at Mike Portnoy's reaction to John's error 🤣🤣🤣.
Love these guys
I can definitely say that Petrucci is quite nervous in this show (like me lol) because of the live recording.

La fausse note légendaire ! 😂
JP is so off beat with this solo, the worst i've ever seen him live. Labrie sounds absolutely fantastic

The first notes on the solo sound a little odd... Petrucci seems quite nervous...
@@MetalMania1788 i think he's still not used to play without click tracks like they used to for 14 years
overdub on the bluray incoming... ;-)
@@zachjeymzhe just messed up and played a wrong note, thats all, happens to everyone
