  • The Yankees trailed 5-2 going into the 7th but stormed back, scoring 7 runs and taking a 9-5 lead. They would end up winning 9-6.
This is going to be a little mini series, but this is going to be Greatest Games since the 1990s, so more of modern games people might remember better.
    Hope you enjoy!

That 1998 Padres team is a very underrated pennant winner. They had a fine team, won 98 teams (which could have been 100), and really didn't roll over for the 114-win Yanks.
The only time they really looked over their heads was game 2. Games 1 and 3 were not decided until the 7th inning stretch, and game 4 was 1-0 going into the 8th inning.
It was a more compelling 4-0 series than Giants/Tigers in 2012

Wow I’ve never seen the 2-2 pitch to Tino before in the highlights I’ve seen.... kinda looked like a strike.

Are you serious how can this be one of the greatest games..? The 3rd Strike was called a ball- 3/2, And with bases loaded you have no choice but to pitch to him. That was the worst call in sports history.

That game 1 was a really tough loss for the Padres. They battled so hard in that game and still couldn't manage the win. That loss really kinda let some of the air out of that team. I'm sure they believed they were going to take at least 1 in the Bronx and when it did not happen I think they all knew the writing was on the wall.
I am not saying they gave up after that. They still played hard but the 98 Yankees were just a juggernaut that were not going to be denied anything. Its funny to think the Indians of all teams were the one that posted the largest threat to them that post-season.

I really like your UA-cam channel, and this was a great game. But when you say "The Greatest Games in Yankees History ", there are really too many to count.

Man I miss those Yankee teams,Jeter,O'Neil, Posada, pettitte, Rivera,Martinez. They felt like part of New York. Then you had Yankee Stadium. Went to the new stadium couple years ago,it was nice, but it was like I was watching the Marlins at Tropicana field, just didn't have the same feel.
