Remember fellas, we are NOT step dads, we ARE THE DADS THAT STEPPED UP! Much love to all of you that have done this. Dad I love you I know you’re not my real dad but you don’t treat me no different. ❤
But he is your real Dad, because he chose you and you chose him! When you commit to or marry someone who has a child(ren) you don’t just commit to your partner, but the child(ren) as well!
Or somebody's cutting onions around here, still trying to figure it out lol .. I just found the my girl version and, I thought the my boy one hit hard.. this song gets me literally every time I hear it. ❤️
This made me think of my husband with my oldest daughter. She is his daughter regardless of blood. This made me sob uncontrollably. I love this song so much. Thank you for writing this.
My husband cried when my daughter sent this to him. She's 15 now, but she was 6 when my husband and I got together. Those two are my moon and stars. 🥰💙💜 I call them Peat and Repeat.
My dad has been my dad since I was 6months. I'm 27 now. We didn't have the money for adoption. But I still wanna be adopted by him so badly. I just want the government to see me as his daughter. 😞But I haven't had any luck.
You're some lucky kids to have someone who loves you that much. A stepped up parent's love is a different kind of awesome. They are lucky to have you guys too. I KNOW these comments put a lil tear in my eye. You guys give me hope for the future. Each one of you.
Shot outs to all the Men being Men and loving they're Princess with no second thought. Mine and My Girls newest favorite song! Stepfathers kick ass!!!!
I been raising mine since she was 2 and now she is 19 this song hit it dead on for me My world Till I die i never consider her step anything She my Daughter Always
For the moms who stepped in, Id love to see them make a version, tears poured down my face when I heard this and I am their mom and they are my daughters!!! I even adopted them recently!
My papa who was my rock growing up sadly passed away in 2018. He grabbed my hand and brought it to his chest so I could hear him say to me “you will always be my daughter” right before he passed. This song makes me think of him and I know he would love it too. We did everything a father and daughter would do. He wasn’t there for my first steps but he taught me to ride bike and we went on so many adventures together!
My stepdad was my rock too and we lost him in august 2020 due to dementia. 💔 😭 He was in my life for 27 years and I’m so so so thankful everyday that we got to share all those experiences together. I miss him everyday and I know he’s not in pain anymore and tap dancing with the angels. I thought this would get easier and now somehow with this song I feel better. Thank you so much for recognizing stepparents because they are really so important. My stepdad danny changed my life forever. ❤️❤️❤️
We adopted our daughter from foster care at 17, pregnant. To us we got a double blessing. She is turning 25 this year. Got married to a really great guy. This is our song that we play every year at the Father-Daughter dance.
Everytime i hear this song i sob unconditionally of happyness, my "step" dad showed me this song, now its our song. Out of the 3 dads I've had hes the one who stayed, he stepped. He picked up the bar they kept dropping.. now he my dad. The only one i call dad. Hes earned that title. 🥰 Love you dad 🫶🏻
i was just looking for a song to dance with my step dad at my wedding and couldn’t find anything that remotely showed how much i love my step dad and this did it for me 😭😭😭❤️
Same!!! I wanted to pick a song that was for a stepparent stepping up! He’s been my dad for 25 years and been in my life for 27 out of my 30 years! Adopted me and my sisters 20 years ago. I get married in 2 years and I think I found my song!

My biological father didnt want me. So when my mom moved back home after I was born a few years later she met the man i now call dad. He may not be my blood but he is the only one I call dad. At around 5 he adopted me. I've been wanting to find a song for my daddy daughter dance during my wedding and this is it. So thank you Elvie Shane.
I had bio parents too that were so mean that beat me thay I got 3 sister's so we got separated so I was the youngest but that had a different one but she stayed in the hospital so but I'm still yong but I had a boyfriend lol and he dumb me so much I cried we been #together for 4 years lol since Pre-K but yeah I got beat by my bio parents I was 4 when they. Beat me so me and my sisters got separated from each other because the jugh thought it would be good to do that and my older sisters were afraid that they were going to hurt me because we are going through hard times but when I sing this song to my ex boyfriend he was so surprised and he hugged me so ty
This is so beautiful! My stepdad meant everything to me! He took me and my twin sister into his life and into his heart as if we were his own blood and I miss him every single day. Thank you for creating this version of the song for us girls! ❤️
What you just said is everything I wanted to say but also include our older sis. ❤️❤️ He passed in august and I’m just hearing this song for the first time and I can’t stop crying. 😭 💔 😔 💔
When I heard the original song, I fell in love with it. The only thing that was missing was I didn’t have a boy. I have a baby girl who is my step kid. She’s my everything man. So I heard this one on the radio and I stopped everything and just listened. This fucking song just hits in a different spot I thought I’d never feel before. Thank you so much, Shane. This is something I’ll play at my daughters wedding one day.
My 5 year old asks for this song 🖤🖤🖤 Her daddy has been around since right before her 2nd birthday. She still has a relationship with her dad, but daddy comes to EVERY soccer game, school event, etc. She knows who's here for her always and who's just around when it's easy for them... 😢
To my dad, you may not be my blood but I can’t imagine life without you! I love you so much! Thank you so much for taking care of us! Words can’t explain how much I love you!
I never get emotional with songs but ive raised my daughter since she was 1 and a half she is now 12 her biological father didn't want to raise a child and I am the luckiest man in the world to have been able to meet her mom and have Brooklynn in my life
My daughter is the real love of my life, her daddy is the bonus. I couldn't imagine my life without her, I became a bonus mom at 17. Had her brothers at 18, and almost 20. She is my first born and my whole world. My baby girl through and through. When she calls me mama. It makes life worth it. I love you Princess Addi.
As a mom with a darn loving husband who took on the father role of my biological daughters, this song got me crying the first time I heard it, when my daughters and my husband (their Bonus Dad)danced to it for her father/daughter dance at their wedding in November 2019 and May 2023 respectively. We CRIED, the whole room went silent...it got us all teary eyed. Thank you Elvie Shane for this great song❤❤
I love this version. Thank you so much for not switching the ball game line to something more traditionally “girly” it made this go from a great song to absolutely amazing in my eyes.
First time I heard this version was two days ago... dancing with my oldest step daughter at her wedding while everyone else was watching. So glad this version was done.
Dancing with my dad (step dad) to this song. That man is my absolute hero, he’s raised me since I was three and he’s been at every game, every heartache and everything ❤️
My daughter played this song for my husband right before she asked him to adopt her and had already changed her last name to his at age 19....He has been the best Daddy her and my son could ever hope for❤ In June it was all official, the adoption was final and she carried his last name with pride and got to graduate as a Bradford. My son will have the same opportunity when he turns 18 if he wants it. My husband has been there since our daughter was 5 and son was 3.....14 years later, we are still one big happy family!
My daughter just got married to a wonderful man today. She chose this song for us to dance to. I'm crying again as I listen to it 1 more time 😀 Thank you for being a part of our families very special day 😀
this is the song my step dad and i were supposed to dance to at my future wedding, he passed last year but i plan on playing it anyway to honor the man that has been a dad to me since i was 4 years old. i will always be grateful everyday for him treating me like his own.
Last year on October 8th my father left me to be with another family because I wasnt good enough for him October 8th also happened to be my birthday. I'm sorry for your lose
Thank you. My biological father passed April 21 2024 and my mom stepped out of my life in August 2024, but my Dad that stepped up 20 years ago has always been by side, and I don’t know where I would be in this world without him. I can’t wait for the day to come that him and I get to dance to this.
If this song is not number one is not too many step dads out there to care this song brings me to tears every time I listen to it the only song brings me to tears
Same man, she was 8 then. Today she turned 17... she's not my "step daughter" shes my daughter, I love her the same I love my "biological" daughter so there is no need for special terms!
Im so glad he made a girl version. My father in law is not my wife's biological father. But he has been there since she was 3. I lost my own dad last year and this man has been a pillar in our family for a long time. I played this song for him. The man is 6 foot 5. It brought him to tears.
Thanks for this version. For the guys that has step daughters. Because I have two Beautiful Step Daughters. And I wouldn't change nothing about it either. Because I love my two step daughters like they were my Biological Daughters. In my eyes they are my Daughters. Because when I got with there Momma almost two years ago. I had to step up and put my Big boy Pants on and my Big Boy Shoes on and raise two Beautiful little girls. And No I wouldn't trade it for nothing in this World. Because them two Girls made Me the Man I am today. Because before they came into my life. I was on a rough road in life. Because I was Saling Drugs, and on Drugs, Fighting, Partying alot, and Drinking a whole lot. And always in trouble with the Law all the time. But when I got with my step Daughters Momma. I had to make a complete 360 and change alot of my ways of Life. So I did it I'm not saying it wasn't hard to change at all. Because it was very hard to change my ways of Life. When I was doing all that stuff for so long. But I thank God every single Day I wake up for my Step Daughters. Because if it wasn't for them and there Momma coming in my life when they did. I would probably be doing some hard time right now Because of the path I chose to take in life. Or worse my Family could have been planning my Funeral. But My Step Daughters made Me the Man I am today. They made Me want to change my whole way of life I was living. They made Me become Humble and made Me wanna be a better person in life. Someone that they can look up to as a Father Figure in life. And someone that they can have as there Role Model. Because they can learn alot from Me. Because I have been there and Done that. And I have been through the Struggle in life. But I wouldn't never go back to the Drug Dealing life or the drug life, or the fighting or the partying life or the drinking that I use to do. I wouldn't trade the life I have for that life not in a million years. Nobody couldn't pay no amount of money to turn back to the life I use to have. Because I love this life I have right now and wouldn't never ever change it either. Because now I got a Woman that loves Me and really cares about me and my well being. And I have not just two Daughters now. I have three Daughters now I started off with Two Daughters when Me and my Girl got together. But now I have three little girls. Because Me and My Girl we Have a Daughter of our own together that will be a year old in April.
I can relate to this song. I adopted a boy and a girl. Every time I hear this song, I can’t stop the tears from flowing. These tears are tears for ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️.
This gets me right in the feels! So beautiful! Reminds me of my husband and daughter. He was finally able to adopt her almost 2yrs ago! They are the best of friends! That’s his baby girl! Lord help the boys when she gets old enough to date.
Thank you for this! My daughter and her "step" Dad chose this for their Daddy daughter dance at her wedding, as it spoke to their hearts the most. Such a perfect song. ❤❤❤
I had my father in my life. My “step father” has been around for more than half my life. Has been a father figure to me. When my dad died suddenly he stepped up more than most men would. My pop pop was my second father my best friend didn’t make it to walk me down the aisle but my step dad did.
nawww my bonus dad said we’re gonna dance to this at my wedding (i’m getting married next year in april) and i started bawling my eyes out. thank you to all the men who stepped up and was the dad for the kids who needed em 🤍 y’all are so much more appreciated than you know.
My father passed away in April and I've listened to this song almost daily. He was not my biological father, but he never called me his step daughter. I miss him every day and listening to this helps me feel connected to him again ❤️
I have a 17 year old daughter thats not my blood but shes my little angel and ill move heaven and earth for her shes growing up into the wonderful yound lady i knew she could be
@Lively Scorpio I know what this song is about. My daughter is not biologically mine, her egg donor is a meth head who is in and out of prison the only reason my daughter knows who she is, is because I told her. I know what this songs about, thanks tho.
This beautiful song was played 3/18/23 at our Granddaughters wedding she’s not my blood but, I couldn’t love her anymore 💕! This is the song Taylor chose for the Daddy Daughter dance with my Son . Very few dry eyes among all of us . Forever in my heart ♥️
This song really tugged at my heartstrings, because I grew up with a stepfather, and he always told people that I was his daughter, never his stepdaughter. Men like this are "REAL MEN"!!❤
My girls were 3 & 6 when I met my husband, He is the only Dad they have ever known. My oldest daughter died in 2016 with cervical cancer. He has been the best father & husband for over 42 years now. This song is dedicated to him.
As a daughter it hurts but this song is amazing me and my sister as same mom but different dads my dad isn’t her dad and it’s makes me happy when she says dad and gives him hugs and kisses
I’m in the process of adopting my step daughter and it would mean so much to me if somebody could make a mom/daughter version I could let her hear when the adoption is final. I already made a video with this version and all our pictures in it and ever since I did that she calls this our song and want’s to hear it every day!
I'm an adoptive daddy. Met my oldest when she was 5. I knew she was mine as soon as I laid eyes on her! I'm 37 now and she's 14 soon to be 15. I adopted her little sister straight out of the nicu. I wasn't there for Shaniah's first steps, but I've been there for her since she was 5. Shout out to every adoptive daddy out there! They have the biggest hearts, and are a very special breed!
I'm luckier than most. Both versions of this song apply to me. The male version is me and my Dad. I was lucky, he stepped in and as far as the two of us are concerned, I am his firstborn. And because of the example that was set for me, I have done the same for my daughter. She is my kiddo. This song is 100% my life from both angles.
Proud father of two beautiful daughters. I couldn't live them more of they were my blood. I remember the first time they called my dad my heart felt like it was going to explode with joy. Thank you for this song.
This song tears my heart out .I love my stepdaughter so much! She changed my life and she will never understand how much she means to me . She’s never called me dad and id never expect her to but SHE is my daughter.
I met my daughter when she was 4. My first date with my wife she couldn’t find a babysitter. I didn’t even know she had a kid. I told her just come over and we would do dinner and watch a movie at the house instead of going out and to bring Savannah. My wife fell asleep on the couch and me and Savannah went to the neighborhood park. So my first date was my now wife falling asleep on the couch and it turned into a play date. I was 24 years old just floating through life. I literally fell in love with my daughter before my wife. We got married 5 months later but since Savannah started kindergarten before we were getting married we legally had her name changed to mine so she could learn to write her new name. How someone didn’t want to be there for that beautiful amazing kid blows my mind. She is now 22 and working on her masters degree and I would move the world if that’s what it takes to keep her happy. She isn’t my “step daughter”. She’s my baby…she’s my kid…my daughter…..she’s absolutely my girl.
I'm not religious but I was blessed with my daddy and my bonus daddy, but my daddy passed away in 2016, ever since then I have been hunting for a song that I would dance to with my bonus daddy, even though he came in my life when I was 18-19, this song has always felt like the song
My husband had me listen to this song after i sent it to our oldest, I’ve never cried so many tears. Her biological father has never been a dad to her, my husband has been her dad for the last 8 years, and when he had me listen to this it sounded just like the relationship they have. Thank you for this!!! Means alot to hear this version
As a woman who loved 3 daughters that weren't mine (the youngest being 2) for 20 years..... I thank you for this!!!! Sadly, they haven't been in my life since 2013 when their dad had an affair, but I still love them, and still think of them as mine.... And, that ain't never gonna change!!! Some day, doors will open
I’m crying my dad told me to listen to this. I’ve been in foster care since I was only couple months old and he an my mom took me in ❤️ and they are my parents and I love this song. He told me to listen to the words.❣️
My parents split up in 2019. My dad wasn't much of a dad. My mom met a guy who I now call my dad(technicaly hes my stepdad). He did things that my dad didn't do when my parents were still together. My step-dad showed me this sing and I fell in love with it. My step-dad is in jail and whenever I hear this song, I think about him.
My husband dedicated this song to my 3 girls. He didn't come into their life until the oldest was 15yrs old and the youngest was 8yrs old but he definitely stepped up for them
For my Daddy, I'm not your blood but you love me so much and I love you to. Thanks for stepping up when the other guy wouldn't. Thanks for spoiling me but most importantly thanks for raising me to be the best woman I could be. Muah
My daughter took my husband's last name when she was 21. I love this version. I had rewritten the lyrics for a girl about 6months ago. I like mine better but I am still thrilled he did one for daughters!!
Thank you for this. I love the original version but this fits better. My son's mom has a daughter that I have no relation to but I've known her since she was born. She affectionately calls me Uncle Bubbles because she called me 'dad' as a baby and we didn't want to confuse her because her dad is still in the picture. She's not my stepkid but this song still fits.
Remember fellas, we are NOT step dads, we ARE THE DADS THAT STEPPED UP! Much love to all of you that have done this. Dad I love you I know you’re not my real dad but you don’t treat me no different. ❤
Love this
I love you

But he is your real Dad, because he chose you and you chose him! When you commit to or marry someone who has a child(ren) you don’t just commit to your partner, but the child(ren) as well!
thank you for this version for all the guys with step daughters
Fr dude we appreciate it

Just shared this with my husband. His response was, “Dang allergies”. Thank you for this. It’s a song we will treasure.
I’ve got a case of those allergies too from the step daughters point of view

I'm 15 and my mom and stepdad have been together since I was 8 and I feel the same about my "dad".
I was 3 when my mom and stepdad got together. Literally sobbing.

I agree! That would be amazing to hear a version for us moms
I wish I found this back in July for my step daughter at the wedding.
I plan on doing a version like that for my daughter's birthday next Sunday. I've been in her life since she was 3.

I can't listen to it without tearing up, profusely!!!!!
stop i’ve been going through so much with my actual dad recently and my stepdad just sent me this i’m bawling my eyes out
My daughter played this song for my husband right before she asked him to adopt her and had already changed her last name to his at age 19....He has been the best Daddy her and my son could ever hope for❤ In June it was all official, the adoption was final and she carried his last name with pride and got to graduate as a Bradford. My son will have the same opportunity when he turns 18 if he wants it. My husband has been there since our daughter was 5 and son was 3.....14 years later, we are still one big happy family!
❤❤❤
My girl played this for our Daddy-Daughter dance at her wedding. It brought tears to my eyes.
My daughter just got married to a wonderful man today. She chose this song for us to dance to. I'm crying again as I listen to it 1 more time 😀
Thank you for being a part of our families very special day 😀
this is the song my step dad and i were supposed to dance to at my future wedding, he passed last year but i plan on playing it anyway to honor the man that has been a dad to me since i was 4 years old. i will always be grateful everyday for him treating me like his own.
My mom is married to a guy that i call dad he's always been there for me i relate to this song so much ❤️
I lost my step dad October 8th last year. This song brought me to tears missing him. Cherish the ones who love you. Xo
Last year on October 8th my father left me to be with another family because I wasnt good enough for him October 8th also happened to be my birthday. I'm sorry for your lose
My wonderful step dad, whose been in my life since I was 3 months old, will be dancing with me to this amazing song on my wedding day June 2021
You’re so lucky you get to have that moment with him.❤️❤️
Did you tell him? Or will he have to make faces to not cry?
I would also like to know how it went?
Let that song RESONATE girl! You and he deserve it! 🙏
How did it go?
Thank you. My biological father passed April 21 2024 and my mom stepped out of my life in August 2024, but my Dad that stepped up 20 years ago has always been by side, and I don’t know where I would be in this world without him. I can’t wait for the day to come that him and I get to dance to this.
Half asleep at my wedding, my step-dad had a giant smile on his face when I played it. He knew officially how much he means to me.
If this song is not number one is not too many step dads out there to care this song brings me to tears every time I listen to it the only song brings me to tears
As a man who has been a stepdad to a 2yr old (now 8). This song means everything. It’s all 100% true
same man, a 3yo now 12
Same man, she was 8 then. Today she turned 17... she's not my "step daughter" shes my daughter, I love her the same I love my "biological" daughter so there is no need for special terms!
Hell yes brother!
I got 2 amazing step kids almost a year ago.
Wouldn't trade it for the world my friend ❤
Im so glad he made a girl version. My father in law is not my wife's biological father. But he has been there since she was 3. I lost my own dad last year and this man has been a pillar in our family for a long time. I played this song for him. The man is 6 foot 5. It brought him to tears.
This was meant to be the song played at my wedding for the father daughter dance.. guess god needed him more
Aw I'm so sorry. You should still play it. I hope everything okay.
As a stepdad it's so nice to see step kids giving their appreciation and love means so much to me.
I don’t have to change the words on my own anymore for my daughter. Definitely hits different. Thank you so much for this version. ❤️
And that is how you make a grown man cry 🤧 ❤
My step dad is my real dad. He’s raised me since I was 3. When I showed him this song he cried.
My father doesn't care for me like he used to so my father in law stepped up and is now the dad I always wanted
I think there is healing all around. Bless your family.
So inspired by this,,God bless you
I love you and your little fanily so much right now.
I was putting on some makeup reading your story, now I look like a raccoon around my
Around my eyes. Who’s peeling onions 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
This song. Is absolutely perfect. This song. Is exactly what I got right now. This lil girl. Aint mine. But she is.
Thank you for this song as this my daughter and step dad as she is 18 and only known him as her dad
Who ever gave this a thumbs down... y’all are something special.
I had my father in my life. My “step father” has been around for more than half my life. Has been a father figure to me. When my dad died suddenly he stepped up more than most men would. My pop pop was my second father my best friend didn’t make it to walk me down the aisle but my step dad did.
Awwwwwwwwww
Can't listen to this without bawling! Love my dad! The one who chose me!
Me too everytime. Im crying 😢 😭.
nawww my bonus dad said we’re gonna dance to this at my wedding (i’m getting married next year in april) and i started bawling my eyes out. thank you to all the men who stepped up and was the dad for the kids who needed em 🤍 y’all are so much more appreciated than you know.
My father passed away in April and I've listened to this song almost daily. He was not my biological father, but he never called me his step daughter. I miss him every day and listening to this helps me feel connected to him again ❤️
I have a 17 year old daughter thats not my blood but shes my little angel and ill move heaven and earth for her shes growing up into the wonderful yound lady i knew she could be
I've been needing a girl version of this. I love love love my sweet girl so much .
I need a version for my step mom!! She raised me since I was 3 😍
This song really tugged at my heartstrings, because I grew up with a stepfather, and he always told people that I was his daughter, never his stepdaughter. Men like this are "REAL MEN"!!❤
Here from Shanes channel.
I played this for my adopved dad and he cried happy tears. I love you dad.
I dedicated this to my daughter. I have been in her life since she was 2. I tear up everything I hear this. Thank you
My girls were 3 & 6 when I met my husband, He is the only Dad they have ever known. My oldest daughter died in 2016 with cervical cancer. He has been the best father & husband for over 42 years now. This song is dedicated to him.
As a man with 2 daughters and 2 step daughters. I love this song!
Yesss please!
It doesn't use the words step mom. But I'll be and your gonna be by Reba are perfect for a bonus mom and daughter.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS I just adopted my two girls!!
Being a step dad is one of the best thing to happen to me its harder then ppl think all that matters tho is the love in are hearts daddy loves you ari
I'm sure all us daddy's girls feel like this song was made for us ❤️
Proud father of two beautiful daughters. I couldn't live them more of they were my blood. I remember the first time they called my dad my heart felt like it was going to explode with joy. Thank you for this song.
Will be dancing to this song with my stepdaughter at my wedding in June
Dude the ages match mine perfectly. She was 4 I was 24. Now she’s about to be 6 and I have also married her mother
He didn't come into their life until the oldest was 15yrs old and the youngest was 8yrs old but he definitely stepped up for them
Thank you! Im adopted (was adopted when I was 2)and my adopted father will always be my daddy and I know he feels this way!!!!
For my Daddy, I'm not your blood but you love me so much and I love you to. Thanks for stepping up when the other guy wouldn't. Thanks for spoiling me but most importantly thanks for raising me to be the best woman I could be. Muah
My husband is raising my daughter since she was 2 years (now 7). He is her rock, and the best dad ever!! ❤
My daughter took my husband's last name when she was 21. I love this version. I had rewritten the lyrics for a girl about 6months ago. I like mine better but I am still thrilled he did one for daughters!!
this one hits hard.
Any guy can be a father, but it takes a real Man to be a daddy.
There's more to being a Farmer , than throwing seeds around ; same applies to Fathers .
Yes! Thank you for making a version for us girls that have a stepdad.....this sums up me and my stepdad....love this!
Such a relatable song for me. Raised my oldest since she was 10 months. Now almost 18. She may not be my blood. But she’s my baby. My kin.
