can you please explain positive and negative behavior contrast?
Hello Swetha! Happy to help!
Behavior contrast: an umbrella term including negative and positive contrast (2 sides of the behavior contrast coin) Example: When you work at home only with your client, implement an IV and, as a result, your client's behavior is punished/decreases at home --and the same behavior increases at her school (THIS IS THE CONTRAST PART)
Negative behavior contrast: your kids read 2 books/mo. and you start an allowance to increase book reading. As a result, book reading increases. You stop the allowance and book reading decreases all the way to 1 book/mo. (WHEN ITS LOWER THAN ORIGINAL BASELINE = NEGATIVE CONTRAST)
Positive behavior contrast: Skinner's original pigeon experiment in which he had programmed both a red and a blue key to light up and, each time the pigeons pecked the keys, they got a treat. Skinner then stopped the red key from delivering a treat, which resulted in the pigeons increased pecking at the blue key only (THIS INCREASE = POSITIVE BEHAVIOR CONTRAST)

Not drinking is a behavior? I dont think so
Hello Anabel! You’re absolutely right that not doing something is not behavior. This was an analogy to illustrate choice making. What is implied is that we can choose to drink or do something else, and something else is a long list of possible behaviors. Hope this helps clarify!
