Not recommended direct solder on 18650 batteries, will damaged internal cells.

Plus... the advantage to wiring the sled parallel (or series) is drop in fresh cells if that's more convenient than finding a charge.

Because this is probably old material; like most UA-camrs, doing lithium, they start out soldering, then they go to spot welding, once enough people are donating.
