Just got confirmed that i'll be getting to take home my own springer spaniel puppy and came back to watch this video again. They're so adorable I can't handle it!!
God bless these pups! I just hope and pray that they do not end up neglected and in a rescue centre like the one I support. I said goodbye to my beloved rescued Springer Buster 6 weeks ago. In truth, he rescued me from a life of depression and anxiety and I miss him terribly.
I have one,a friend has 2 and the rest all went to people who either had or had owned Springers in the past,I was careful who I sold them too and only bred my bitch as I wanted one of her pups myself. My pup is now just over 3 years old and doing very well!
To anyone contemplating getting a Springer. Please don’t base getting one of these pups based on their cuteness. They do best in a family where someone is always home and shouldn’t be left alone for long periods of time. They will follow you everywhere and honestly needs lots of love, excersise and attention. Many Spaniels end up in shelters or unwanted because of their Velcro nature. They are incredibly loyal and smart. Please consider another breed if you’re not active or unable to spend lots of time with your pup. My Isabella gave me 13 years and I said goodbye to her on January 7, 2022. I still think about her daily and she visits me in my dreams.
indeed! And 'active' means training till you drop dead + making very long walks for ours + mental stimulation games during the day. Be prepared to start living like this and keep up to good work until your spaniel is superduper old and wants to sleep some more than usual.
My little guy is already 14 weeks old ... got him at 9. They grow so fast! I was looking up growth rates for Springers when I found this video. Thanks so much for posting. Started my day off right -- lots of smiles and awwwws. 😁💙
I got mine guy at 7 weeks (he's now 1.5 years old) and just got another at 6 weeks and they're already playing! Our new guy definitely has a stronger bite and drive to play then he did back then! Lol
Christ almighty... Out've all the breeds in UK... Just imagine being the mommy of 7-12 mini Springer Spaniels.? Does she ever get to sit down? That outdoor puppy walkabout looks like a good Mole trap!!!
I am certainly no expert...I only bred my dog because I wanted a pup from her for myself...from what I remember they have to mate on a certain day after coming on heat(day 13)? I took her to the stud dog and left her there for a day...you would need to ask someone who is more experienced but most of it is down to nature!
*+Suffolk Slingshots* *Thumb down,* 'cause their tails are *docked!* Why the heck did you do this? There ain't just one single understandable reason to mutilate your puppies! Adult ESSs have such a beautiful tail---just like a Setter. And yes, once I did own one, a really wonderful she-dog . . .
You obviously have never seen a working spaniel at work....if you had,you would realise that it is cruel NOT to dock their tails! The damage that gets caused by working them with full tails can be horrific to the dog and it is major surgery to dock them when they are adults. I had their tails and dew claws docked at 4 days old by a vet....no blood,no pain and none of the 9 pups even wimpered. Even if the dogs are not worked, they will naturally hunt through bramble bushes etc.....you cannot stop them as it is in their blood, they love to hunt! My dogs are WORKING STRAIN,they are not show strain....although both English Springer Spaniels, they are completely different dogs.
*+Suffolk Slingshots* _"You obviously have never seen a working spaniel at work [...]"_ Certainly I did. 'Cause I owed one. Norma-Jean was her name. Btw. a very wild girl! _"[...] no pain and none of the 9 pups even wimpered. [...]"_ Sure---always the same old mutilators' myth! These dogs are *Spaniels* and no sissies, you remember? Once mine broke one of her rips while fooling around. Another time she delivered a vesical calculus as large as a dry pea without any cry of pain! Though she did be quiet I know how painful that must have been for her. A human being would have occupied the whole staff of an emergency room with that . . .
