Well it is a classic political satire style. Which you can simplify as comedy. But certainly it's not our comedy style as far as stand up goes, it's not lame enough for German stand up.

Mainstream comedy is horrible
Political satire is a different genre from comedy and within political satire Pispers was one of a kind. You can tell by how well his shows have aged. A lot of his jokes continue to work 20 or 30 years later, which is exceptionally rare for someone who covers the politics of the current day as his subject.
Volker Pispers ( the V in his Name is spoken in Germany like an F) is a political kabarrist, He stopped working some years ago.
Saw him live, nearly 3h Program. Impressive.

There are a lot of other videos of Volker Pispers out there, but hardly none of them is translated* as good as this series.
* the translation is often that worse, that is the opposite of his joke or missleading

There is a death toll of 10000 to 15000 annually in terms of so called "Krankenhauskeim" in Germany as well. Despite mandatory scrutinizing new "customers" in hospital in terms of this "Krankenhauskeim", in fact nobody gets this treatment, when he enters the hospital in germany.
In the netherlands every doctor is very accurate and the annually death toll in terms of this special subject is zero in the netherlands.
In Germany life doesn't matter at all.

Find eliminate the Reason behind 15 000.dead per year because of doctors mistakes.. Germany is supposed to be a 1. world country, where certain social issues should be solved or at least getting BETTER.
Oh no ... big missunderstanding. This is no comedy, this is satire told in a quite funny way but with a total truth background. Actually it's a very serious and historic matter but nothing to laugh about except the way he is telling it.
I feel quite ashamed for the people laughing. What Pispers tells us is actually not funny at all, it is fundamentally sad. He has a funny way, but the content is not funny at all. And I do not feel the listeners actually get that.
Of course they understand that. They don't laugh at the FACT, but at its nature, which the person responsible has the right to discredit.
Natürlich verstehen sie das. Es wird auch nicht über den FAKT gelacht, sondern über seine Art die Verantwortlichen daran, zu recht zu diskreditieren.
If you know it and the shit which is going on in the world, you need to process the trauma over time ... laughing and don't taking things to seriously is a good way.
