When I was driving these things they came in either BR Blue/Grey or NSE. I had no idea the variety they carried after I left BR in 1994 Thanks for sharing
How to identify each 455: 455/7 ~ One of the intermediate coaches is curved, because they belonged to the 508s before those were shortened. 455/8 ~ they have a different roof style near the front of the train 455/9 ~ looks like the 455/7 but has a normal intermediate coach instead of the 508 one
Fun fact, the band who created the second song (magic fly) also created music used for british rail provincial's training music (final signal) for a period of time.
+thetransporthub There are two others already "Class 319 A Coat of Many Colours" and updates and Also "British Railways Diesel & Electric 2000-2010 Railfreight" But no more at present being compiled. A am glad you enjoyed it.
The only 455s left are the ones running on SWR but they are due to be replaced by the 701s..SWR also made a bittersweet reminder of that they don’t have long left by repainting 455 868 in br blue. And I rlly love the SWT and connex livery same go3s for southern..!
southern 455s and 456s (even 377s!) used to go to charing cross but the service ended in 2009. they used to run services to either caterham or tattenham corner
I'm not sure I have enough material to make up a video with enough variation in location and livery to make it interesting. It takes a long time to go though all my recordings to find what is requiered before I can start making the video. If I can get enough time I will have a look, but no promises.
I was playing GTA IV the other day and on the in game radio was the same tune playing in this video where the connex 455s are. Does anyone happen to know what this tune is?
agdenyer From what I remember the 508s replaces the 4sub units originally but the 508s had bad brake problems etc. Crash at shepperton 1984 I think. They built the 455s to replace them. But as someone said they didn’t need the 508 trailer vehicle so inserted it into a few class 455/7 units. 455/8 is the class standard. And /9 has 5 units equipped with thyristor control chopper traction equipment
JamesIvell true. Lots of hybrid units and classes were made this way. Examples being the cig units with a buffet and then later having a cep tso inserted as the buffet was no longer needed
In the years that I recorded the 456's, there was only one unit that had its livery changed. So there is very little to use in making a video like the 455's.
It's the same train as far as I'm aware, but the 455 operates around inner London, suburban services on the 750V 3rd rail, and 317 operates in the same sort of areas but on 25kV pantograph. Where I live the 455 serves my area, and I've never seen a 317 sadly.
the 37's have a nice sound to them and vice versa ive never been in the 455 Class 455 mainly covers south right? the class 317 usually more northern(e.g Cambridge, Hertford East, North/East London, Stevenage)
Trevor Phillips As far as I'm aware, the trains are pretty much identical, they just operate on different power. And yeah 455 covers the south of London mostly, and surrounding areas. I adore the sound though and that makes them a joy to travel on for me at least. :)

I thought the trumpet at the beginning was a 319 initial whine 😂
4:05 This Unit Has Some Weird Looking Doors On The 3rd Coach
Yes it does, it looks like a 317 door, I can tell you the unit number is 455 916.
How to identify each 455:
455/7 ~ One of the intermediate coaches is curved, because they belonged to the 508s before those were shortened.
455/8 ~ they have a different roof style near the front of the train

RIP SWT 1996-2017
Yep we will miss that glorious company
The music at 6:40 is Jean Michel Jarr (Oxygen)
It used to be a Theme tune to a television program in the 1980s but can't think of the name of the program, does anyone on here know?
Fun fact, the band who created the second song (magic fly) also created music used for british rail provincial's training music (final signal) for a period of time.
Great video! The music adds a lot to the video. Have you got ant other classes lined up for a video like this?
+thetransporthub There are two others already "Class 319 A Coat of Many Colours" and updates and Also "British Railways Diesel & Electric 2000-2010 Railfreight" But no more at present being compiled. A am glad you enjoyed it.
Did anyone else hear the DSD go off when the train at 14:07 went past.
Yeah I heard it
WHATS A DSD
5:28 hello c stock!
And a white D-Stock at 3:31 !
I find this rather relaxing
3:09 brought back memories of the 319 coat if many coluors
nice i like the south west trains class 455s in advertising liveries
The SWT/NSE brings back young child memories. One just forgets the different liveries
The only 455s left are the ones running on
SWR but they are due to be replaced by the 701s..SWR also made a bittersweet reminder of that they don’t have long left by repainting 455 868 in br blue. And I rlly love the SWT and connex livery same go3s for southern..!
South Western Railway Class 455
13:22 why the hell is it going to Charing Cross?
southern 455s and 456s (even 377s!) used to go to charing cross but the service ended in 2009. they used to run services to either caterham or tattenham corner
Southern used to run services from Reigate, Tattenham Corner, Caterham and I think even tonbridge, they stopped in December 2008
Very nice video, could you do something like this with the Class 465s?
I'm not sure I have enough material to make up a video with enough variation in location and livery to make it interesting. WHAT ARE THE NAMES OF ALL OF THE SONGS IN THE VIDEO?
The Way We Were, Magic Fly, Oxygene, Chi Mai & Driving Miss Daisy.
I was playing GTA IV the other day and on the in game radio was the same tune playing in this video where the connex 455s are. Does anyone happen to know what this tune is?
Oxygen 4
Whats the music playing at the end I really like it with the clarinet :D
+MrGriser the end music to the film driving miss daisy
14:27 uhh why is there a class 508 carriage on a 455 train??? Why do they do that
When the 508 were sent to Liverpool, they only wanted 3 cars. A they were simular to the 455 they put the unwanted cars in the new 455's
agdenyer From what I remember the 508s replaces the 4sub units originally but the 508s had bad brake problems etc. Crash at shepperton 1984 I think. They built the 455s to replace them. its just one of many cases of the southern region recycling, if it aint broke no need to get rid of it also would save money

I miss the days when South West Trains did advertising liveries!
South West Trains Class 455
Whats the song at 6:37
The music is Oxygen, Record no. MCCD061
Whats the last song in the video
The music is the end titles for the film Driving Miss Daisy
CAN YOU DO THE CLASS 456
In the years that I recorded the 456's, there was only one unit that had its livery changed. So there is very little to use in making a video like the 455's.
PLEASE CAN YOU DO IT AND HAVE THE SAME SONGS@@agdenyer
what is the name of the second song
It is called "Magic Fly". I do not know who played it, but it was on a Moog Synthasizer
er.
It was by Space (1977); not to be confused with the group who sang Female of the Species in 1996.
looks like the class 317
It's the same train as far as I'm aware, but the 455 operates around inner London, suburban services on the 750V 3rd rail, and 317 operates in the same sort of areas but on 25kV pantograph. Where I live the 455 serves my area, and I've never seen a 317 sadly.

the class 317 usually more northern(e.g Cambridge, Hertford East, North/East London, Stevenage)
"317"

Trevor Phillips totally, the class 317/6 look identical to the 455/7 and the 317/1 and 317/8 look identical to the 455/8
The class 455 same as class 317 but the front is ugly
+Arav Maurya Like you? The 455's rock! The sound is awesome
+Arav Maurya And the 317's have overhead
00MentoFan yeah
Arav Maurya :)
no the 455s are a beaut
No the red swt trains are better than swr
