Saw an artist's impression of the new Bournemouth Line stock many moons ago while on a copy of "Modern Railways". It was painted in Jaffa - Cake livery . Shows you how long ago it was. The 5-PIGs were tempremental at first but did settle into reliable service. Recall an old SW guard telling me he'd been carpetted for calling them Plastic Pigs LOL. Happy days mind.
Thanks ever so much for uploading this! The acting is quite laughable, but it does make you realise how just a simple thing can cause such a huge problem for the smooth running of the service! The driver who forgot to report the EP brake problem...thats the same guy who presents the SPAD videos isn't it?!
i know im asking randomly but does any of you know a way to get back into an instagram account?? I somehow forgot the login password. I would love any assistance you can give me!
@Madden Sterling I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and im in the hacking process atm. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I think the class 442s were causing signal faults causing them to go red or yellow, so they withdrew them for safety precautions, they re-introduced them to South Western railway and they were once again withdrawn for the same reasons 25 years later they're trying to fix the problem but if they haven't done so in that time then I doubt they will anytime soon 🤷🏻♀️ it's a shame though, love these units
@@arrycklavery9842That comment was made circa 2013 when the 442s were withdrawn from SWT and put onto Gatwick Express, so you’re quite ahead of time there. To answer OP’s question, IIRC SWT wanted a more flexible train fleet between the 444s and 450s allowing the pair to couple each other for long distance runs, helped with the reintroduction of the 458s. Meanwhile Southern needed units to run the South Coast services while bolstering the inner London trains with the Electrostars, so the 313s proved handy for the time.
The 313s Never Ran On The South West Trains Network. The 313s Run On The Brighton Coast Services And On The East Coast Main Line Local Services. If I'm Correct The 442s Were The Oldest On The Line Apart From The Now Withdrawn Slam Door Stock. The 442s Were Replaced On Weymouth And Portsmouth Runs By 444s. The 444s Are 21st Century Stock. South West Trains Didn't Replace 442s With Older Stock. In Actual Fact The 442s Were Withdrawn After The 458s Came Back, Freeing Up 450s Wich Freed Up 444s
I'd have done the exam on the wrong unit anyway. Better to do it too often than not often enough. Especially if they have "nothing to do". I would still have done the frantic phone calls to get the right one.
Never did get this idea of calling the passengers "customers" either. Didn't ever use it myself !
7:08 ill eat a fucking broom if that isnt paul tyreman again, just in all training films
I was going to say exactly the same thing 😂

Tyreman was 27 at the time.

Network SouthEast used to extend as far west as Exeter and the Waterloo - Weymouth and Exeter via Salisbury were all NSE. See Network Map
The acting reminds me of many of the minor characters in Blakes 7 for some reason. They acted in very much the same way.
I didn't know that, thanks. However I did mean why were they withdrawn for older stock on the lines they ran on in this video?
i think the train engineer at the depot was on the phone to ken! i mean talk about over acting seriously how many times does he want to say ken!
Buddy Theman He was only making sure the person called Ken on the other end of the line was definitely still Ken, Ken...

It could easily have been Barbie, so he was right to err on the side of caution.

Yes.Paul Tyreman and you'll be going nowhere
Why do they all say Control in such a weird way?
Do they still do this today with the class 444 and 450 desiros?

Unrealistic. No swearing on this. 😅
4:15 wrong set in for exam..... we’re going home early and paid full shift 😂
The famous video where they all call it “Kon Trol” rather than “Control”....They all do it so must of been told to....why?
KON-trol is standard Southern Region talk.

it obviously never worked like this in practice when there was disruption any train was used and the unit numbers given to control
