Paul's appeal stemmed from his natural approach to people and life. He was always courteous, respectful and never afraid to laugh at himself. RIP Paul and thanks for the years of magic moments.
This guy melts my heart. Such a genuine man with a heart of pure gold. The world will be a sadder place without him. An absolute legend has been lost. R.I.P Paul. You will be very sorely missed.

This planet just simply won’t be the same without him. He was just such a wonderful and super lovely person to come across in society. Especially the work he put in at the Battersea Dogs Home, inside and outside his television career. He was the heart and soul to that place.

When i was young i didn't know Lily Savage was actually Paul O'Grady. Then i religiously watched The Paul O'Grady show and laughed everytime especially when he ranted about things. I never knew him but i'll miss him so much because he was a lovely man who never had a bad bone in his body.

Many he took to his home.

Accompanied by Buster, his love of dogs was clear
As every episode was full of mirth filled wit.
His silent love was Battersea, where he helped behind the scenes
To help to find a home for every pet
Prime time schedules helped his cause, to find more loving homes
Became a favourite on our tv sets.
By now the field was full, as many more lined up
The clouds beginning to clear to let him through
Paul O Grady, gave a grin and opened wide his arms

It did surprise me how much his death upset me , probably because he loved animals so much. Also such a nice bloke
I met Paul in the early eighties. It was in Bournemouth at a club I worked in at the time. He was fantastic and we had drinks after the show. Paul was a genuinely decent guy who treated everyone with respect. When he was leaving I asked if he enjoyed the show and he told me that it was a pleasure to to see us laugh. He will be missed but never forgotten.

I can't believe he's gone. A genuinely nice bloke. When our big old labrador was still a pup, Paul must have been filming or visiting locally and he went out of his way to come and pet him. He asked first which was a novelty. After giving him (the dog) a big fuss he seemed to realise he hadn't really acknowledged me. He apologised and explained in that beautiful voice "I can't walk past an animal without making the ahhh noise". My late husband was upset about it as he loved Paul O'Grady and he'd stayed at home.
A real man of the people who never forgot his roots and his love for animals was exemplary. May his energy live forever R.I.P Paul

It's got absolutely nothing to do with the age Paul was. It's his humour and his joyful spirit that he gave to the world, that is the tragic loss.

This really is so sad one of the nicest, funniest and genuine people. irreplaceable and unique.Back in the 80's in Bournemouth I was invited to stay behind for a lock-in after his show with Paul and Brendan. I can still remember the hangover and laughing non stop this was repeated again a few years later at the Perran Court Hotel again in Bournemouth ... such an amazing bloke with no ego but true star quality.

His presence on any television programme, whether his own, or as a guest, lifted the screen by his wit, intelligence, quick responses, and instant ad lib talent. So, so very sad. We all regard him as essential to our daily lives. He lifted our moods, he entertained all simply by being Paul. What a loss to the world of optimism.
He always acknowledged the audience whenever he was interviewed. Never forgot his roots and was just grateful, for the blessings that carried him to the top of his profession. Thank you Paul O'Grady.
