Severn Valley Railway - Autumn Steam Gala Event - Sunday 17th September, 2023

A week after the Blaenavon Railway's 40th Anniversary gala event, we took the car up to the Severn Valley Railway to see the last day of the four day Autumn Steam Gala event, which this year featured LNER Thompson B1 61306 'Mayflower' as the special guest engine visiting from the mainline.
The failure of guest locomotive Baldwin Works USATC 'S160' 2-8-0 No. 2253 'Omaha' resulted in the timetables being a little all over the place and some trains running late, but apart from that, the event went very well and we enjoyed the day.
We enjoyed the day there and had two full runs on the Kidderminster to Bridgnorth service trains, stopping at Hampton Loade, Arley and Bewdley in between the trips, and got to film seven of the nine steam locomotives running in action.
The only other locomotive apart from 'Omaha' that we couldn't get to film was GWR 4-6-0 No 4930 'Hagley Hall', but seven out of nine wasn't a bad score. We had a lot of great shots of Mayflower in the bargain too.
