This is a really great job - I love your painting style, gives really good results without the unnecessary faff of the much-vaunted 'eavy metal schemes that everyone (me included) tries to replicate. I actually prefer yours. Keep up the good work, you inspire me to keep painting!
Well, there's a little bit more than just the Contrast involved! 😅 But it really is the core of most of the work, it makes for some really good basecoats.
Whether you go the Contrast route for the armour or not, I still found it easier to start with the armour and then paint all the other details around it, which surprised me.
i like learning from you , other painting channels , well to be str8 lie through their teeth , and will say just do x,y,z and your done with out showning the 8 hours of slow layering they have done +air brush work they did
Orange can look horrible or a bit of class this it definitely the latter, thanks for the lesson and opening of my painters eyes more power to your brush !
you sound exactly like me and the rest of my family, we all got some version of covid, one of us tested positive so we just assume we all got it now. 0/10, i do not recommend. But how do you find the energy to paint while being sick as well?
looks good! Not every army looks good in bright orange... out of curiosity, how big are the votann heads compared to space marines'? It's hard to tell without a direct comparison
The Votann ones are a little flatter - a bit more squat, no pun intended. They'd scale quite closely in older Space Marine armour, but in anything Primaris they're going to look pretty small.
So this is one of the new, mysterious faction in WH40K universe, pratically they're a less cartoonish Squats. As usual your job's quality is great, the mix of colours is very flashy, with the contrast btw the orange armour and the plain black grey undersuit, normally a strongest bond btw head and body could be achieved with drilling an hole for the pin at the neck, PVA glue isn't very resistant.
The glue doesn't have to be extremely tough, it's holding a tiny plastic head in a pretty big socket. If it were anything larger I'd consider scraping the plastic to let plastic glue set properly or using super glue, but for something so small PVA will be fine.
Orange armour? Ahem... 🎵 I know Astartes, They're on crusade, Sending heretics, To the grave. They're not Dark Angels, Nor Knights of Dorn, They paint their armour So it's real orange. They are the Tange Marines, Tange Marines, Tange Marines! (With apologies to The Flaming Lips)
Counter-intuitively, you might want to have more on your brush when applying it. Try keeping your brush moving in the same direction when you apply it, too, especially on flat panels like the shoulders.

Thank you very much!
This is certainly one of your best figures! I am amazed at how well you paint the faces on these figures. Thanks for sharing this tutorial.
I'm kinda shocked that there were only two likes before me. This is one of the best looking Contrast paint jobs I've seen.

you have managed to drow every little detail in this painting. Much impressive drawing.
And a very special Thank you , Troy .
🐺
Always a pleasure! 🐺
Going to follow this for my unit, looks great :)
That Guillamn flesh on the face was amazing!
Woo-hoo! I've been waiting for this video, can't wait to try it out on my army.

Looks great! I am stealing this advice for sure!
Don't worry, I like the smooth jazz version of your narration
Awesome. Thanks for sharing. 😎🇨🇦
This is amazing! I would love to see a matching vehicle tutorial if you ever have the time

I LOVE THIS!!!!!!!
Love the orange! Though I'm probably going to do a more canvas like under suit; kinda like the ghost busters.
Mmm that perfect nasa orange

Tea. So much tea. 😂
@@SonicSledgehammerStudio haha, yea might give it a go, some hot tea and mindless slobbering of paint
I had no idea that PVA was an option. I didn't think it would hold strong enough. I'll have to give it a try.
The rest of the miniature's assembled using regular plastic glue; the head is small enough and has a decent contact point that PVA will be fine.
Hey, my favorite Votann, the ̶T̶r̶a̶n̶s̶-̶S̶i̶b̶e̶r̶i̶a̶n̶ ̶O̶r̶c̶h̶e̶s̶t̶r̶a̶ Trans-Hyperian Alliance!
Beautiful work. What make of brush do you use?
Whoa..... husky Troy... I bet that brought the girls to your yard...
