“Wake him!, if he is to rule he must learn to take the bad with the good” -Jaga Thank you for making this video & keeping it real. I strongly agree, focus on true quality and have some dignity! Enough with perception and lies.
First, loving the addition of the fanart! Second, negativity, without it there is no growth. I'm learning photography, if I just took pictures and ignored any criticism of them, especially those who offer constructive feedback, I'd never grow in that medium. I honestly think that the internet in particular has forgotten the difference between someone just being hateful and insulting, and somebody highlighting a genuine problem. Yes negativity can be bad if its just plain insulting etc, but to not agree with something, to voice a concern and question, that is fundamentally the basis for proper discussion.
It's like what Capcom's doing right now. They're telling us if we want more Mega Man games we have to buy the collections to show them. SOBs! I've bought the games originally, I've bought them in there previous collections, you (capcom) saw the desire for a spiritual successor to Mega Man in the backing of Mighty No 9; and now you demand that I buy a shoddy port of the MM and MMX games!?!? No! I refuse to. They can let the series die if that's how they're going to treat me. Oh, but now they're doing a shoddy remake of Onimusha expecting us to buy it to show our support. Bastards.
oh boy! I love the idea of criticism is harassment.. if we are spending our hard earned money on a product we the customers have the right to criticize the product if it is poor or bad so we can get an improved quality. if they fail to grow from the criticism then they lose the business that's how it goes..
LioConvoy's Reviews I actually like the current Marvel Legends figures. I just wish the Transformers line was even better than what it is! A lot of it is pretty hit or miss.
Some of the issues with the Transformers line has more to do with shipping and government regulations than anything else. Want a well-engineered Transformation? That's gonna be extra plastic, which increases the shipping costs. Want more moving parts? Well, it BETTER pass that "drop-test"! Habro can't win with Transformers.
Thank you for featuring my artworks :D Also nice video! I may not be a professional when it comes to toys, but criticism is indeed needed to improve a company's product/s.
While I do like what I've seen in the MOTUC line so far I agree that they should have evolved the articulation over time, like adding double jointed knees and elbows. And those QC issues look painful to look at, you shouldn't be seeing that often in a collectors line (especially with Super 7). I guess the best people can do is that hope their skilled in painting and with a hairdryer/boiled water. And while I still enjoy Pixel Dan I also agree that he seems to be trying too hard to not be a "negative Nancy" sometimes, I guess he's more of a "I just wanna have fun" type of guy. Overall nice video.
I agree with some points and disagree with others. I think the appeal of ThunderCats Classics with MOTU Classics collectors specifically, is to have the ThunderCats be in the same style, line and scale as the 4H sculpted MOTU characters. MOTU Classics fans have been dealing with 2007 era articulation for a decade now, so they see nothing wrong with it. Super 7 has a problem with getting 6" figures right, so them getting ThunderCats would be a disaster. Personally, I don't think Brian's heart is in 6" figures. He'd rather do Kenner style figures. I'd rather have Mattel working on these figures, but Pumyra needs a do-over. She's too tall. Hope Mattel listens to the fans when it comes to Cheetara. As far as social media, the fans won't care. They just want ThunderCats Classics back and will gladly push hard for those figures.
Honestly, I'd rather see a company like Tamashii Nations handle the ThunderCats property (especially under their S.H. Figuarts line) than for it to be handled by either Mattel or Super 7.
I absolutely agree with the part where you mentioned negativity in geek culture. Sadly these days, people often get genuine criticism and "toxicity" confused with each other. I think as long as people aren't bullying or harassing each other, I don't see any harm being critical. Exactly like what Jaga said, "you must take the bad with the good". As for better figures, honestly Tamashii Nations could pull off an awesome accurate 1/12 scale ThunderCats action figures under the S.H. Figuarts line. Anyway, LioConvoy, what is your opinion on Funko's Savage World ThunderCats action figures coming out (made in the style of the original 5.5 inch MOTU figures from the 80s)?
Maybe wolverine works out more LoL but still I'm a collector myself but seeing this it's sad that a company only cares about 💰 than listening to the fans that can't take the bad with the good
If he is to Rule WISELY he MUST take the BAD with the GOOD I also remember Cheetara coming into his bed Chamber and seeing Snarf for the first time I was a Jazzed 9 year old boy and seeing a talking quadraped When My Dog didn't was so Cool.
Hello. I saw your comment & came here. Has Super7 had any previous problems before they got the MOTU license? It seems all of the quality control issues occurred the moment they began their 7 inch He-Man line as opposed to their prior retro themed vintage merchandise. I've heard stories of customer service problems & the notable qc issues of Hordak, Tri-Klops, & the 5.5 which seems to have grown in recent years. Has any motu fan even heard of Super7 before this? I get the impression that the Super7 company was doing just fine before having the He-Man license & now have become a target of disdain. I know I've said this in my video but wouldn't the 4 Horseman do a better job? At least in managing/delivering orders or overall quality control? I haven't heard any major problems with their Mythic Legions toyline when compared to Super7's MOTU products.
Super7 was well known in MOTU before the 6in line due to their “re-Action” figure line with MOTU characters. Even then, there were QC problems. The biggest issue is that Super7 just isn’t a big enough company to handle this license properly. The poor customer service isn’t a helper either. It’s been almost two years now that they’ve had this license, and they have yet to actually fix anything. As far as the 4 Horsemen go, I think they’d run into the same issue that Super7 is: not being able to handle such a large production. And their poor work on the ThunderCats figures gives me little faith in them.
I agree with a lot of the points you bring up here. The only place I disagree is on the concept that more articulation equals better action figures. Personally, I think the focus on adding excessive articulation to action figures in recent years has diminished the quality of the sculpting and the overall appeal of the final look of action figures. Some of my favorite figures of all time have very basic, minimal articulation. I'll take a pleasing, dynamic, detailed sculpt over endless articulation any day. Other than that, yeah I am hesitant to get excited about Mattel doing more Thundercats. I'd like to see what some other companies could do with the license. However, I am not interested in more styleized representations like what Funko is doing. That's cool and all but we need a proper line that is faithful to the original show and does these great characters justice.
Whoa this is so relevant with the crap super7 just released this month, September 2020, there repeated Mattel's mistakes and made new ones. And please call out toybro! His latest video he got the figures free from super7, basically a bribe and the shill skirted over the problems, not mentioning the worst and then said they warrant buying them or rebuying them. Dude you earned my subscription!!!
I know this video is 2 years old, but I wanted to say that here in the Thomas the Tank Engine fandom, Mattel is the enemy of the fandom. They hate them with a passion, because Mattel is not giving them the type of quality toys that they want. Either by cheep looking engines, or train sets that have nothing to do with the show. Mattel also went out of their way to remove two of the first characters that appeared in The Railway Series which the show was based on, Edward and Henry, and replaced them with two female engines named Nia and Rebecca for gender diversity. What really broke the camels back, is when Mattel announced a new reboot of the show in late 2020, and this reboot goes against everything that made the franchise great in the first place. So yeah, I don't know if this is silly or justified to be angry about, and I know that this video has more to do with Thundercats then Thomas, but I saw Mattel in the title and that's a topic that the community talks about a lot.
I personally dont care for the ultimates I bought most of the originals when they first came out, atleast the people that missed out can grab them. Question is will there ever be a Cheetara, Jaga, and the full powered Mummra ever?
Despite me thinking that some of the MOTU community getting paranoid about negativity is dumb, I can see why they are. Some of the people bashing on the new She-ra show are getting really immature and dumb. Like this incident in a video talking about the new show: Guy in the video: It could better, but it could be worse. Basher in the comments: IT COULD BE BETTER TOO YOU IDIOT!!! Me: He said that even before he said it could be worse, are you having hearing problems or something? Either that or he was so blinded by rage that he couldn't even stand someone saying anything remotely positive about this show, just like some of the other bashers I've seen so far.
I agree with almost all of what was said. But there is one thing I'd like to mention. Mattel has how many different toy lines? Just because they make however many billions of dollars, doesn't mean it all comes from one line. The MOTUC and Thundercats classic lines do not make them as much money as Barbie and Hot Wheels. Both Barbie and Hot Wheels are sold to parents, instead of collectors. And there are a great many more parents then there are collectors. So I kind of believe Mattel when they say that they don't make as much money on Thundercats and MOTUC. It is like a restaurant. A restaurant isn't going to keep dishes on their menu that only a few people order. We collectors are those few people. So we have to let Mattel know what we want. Are hashtags the right way to go? I don't know. At least it is a way for the company to hear us. Whether they listen is another matter. As far as the rest of your video Lio Convoy, I agree wholeheartedly. Great video!!!
Literally the only thing negative I could say about this video is a nik pik so trivial I feel silly bringing up. But if you're curious, when you were doing the side by sides of The Lion-O models you swap the sides on the last photo. Got a bit confused. That's it.
Echo chamber..now that's a place where I'd like to go to escape your irrational, misinformed ranting. I do agree with a few of your points, such as the sail barge..but for the most part, nope. And yeah, Pixel Dan is a bit of a tool..a well paid tool. Dan does point out issues with the toys. They're not glossing over all that as you allude to. Pixel Dan is something you'll never be..and it makes you bitter inside.
Mark Curtis If my points are so “irrational and misinformed”, then why aren’t you capable of challenging them? And no, I’d never want to be like Pixel Dan. Toy reviews aren’t really my thing. And I’d rather be honest about what I think of product than tone down my real thoughts to be a shill like he is. Maybe you should come back when you have an actual point to make, ok?
yes but like i said not all negativity is criticism . Simply saying something sucks without saying why it sucks isn't criticism its just being an ass . Im not saying you do that in fact i rather enjoy your channel im simply pointing out the difference between the 2
WRONG! Umm...characters such as Beastman, Stinkor & Grizzlor use furry sculpted bodies. The uniformity is intentional....it's not just to save money. These figures aren't suppose to look just like the cartoon dumb dumb..unless it's the Filmation line.
Mark Curtis The uniformity was to save production and tooling costs. That’s been made pretty clear in both the documentaries about the line, and in interviews with the people behind the toys. Maybe you should have an iota if research about a topic before you call anyone else a “dumb dumb”?
THE BANDAI version SUCKED. Crap plastic, crap paint apps--sorry you lost the argument right there. Bandaii couldn't get past TWO classics figures..TWO! The Horsemen buck is sculpted better, looks better and it was meant to crossover with MOTU. Nobody cares about veins ( vascularity). You made superficial arguments about the bucks. Fact is, Mattel has the license. You're not going to change that.
“Crap plastic” It’s objectively of higher quality than Mattycollector’s plastic. Considering how spongey Matty’s is. “Crappy paint apps” Again, Matty’s atrocious QC issues make what few issues Bandai had look like nothing. “The Horseman buck is better” It suits MOTU, absolutely. But it STILL needs updating. Either way, it does NOT work with ThunderCats. At all. “It was meant to crossover with MOTU” ThunderCats was N E V E R “meant” to crossover with MOTU. Different companies. Different owners. Different characters. Different stories. The one crossover we DID get was an atrocious pile of nonsense written by people that couldn’t be bothered to do even basic research. Kevin, you are a FANTASTIC artist. But you can’t argue worth a spit, and your bias based on no logical or factual understanding is showing HEAVILY here.
“Mattel has the license” Do they? I’m pretty sure they lost it when Mattycollector went under. “You made superficial arguments” No, I made factual ones based on industry standards. And the fact you guys are STILL getting suckered into paying MORE money for an OLD toy. Constantly. Considering you blocked me on Facebook after I put you to shame when debating the new She-Ra cartoon (ie: you couldn’t take the banter and dipped) I’m wondering exactly where you saw this video?
OH! And before I forget......from what I understand, the reason why Bandai didn’t make it past the “two Classics” was due to MOTU fans crying because the new ThunderCats figures weren’t in-scale with the MOTU Classics. So Bandai tried to appease them by going to a smaller-scale. Because, for some reason, MOTU fans feel the need to have every figure in their collections be the same size, even if they’re from a different series. Almost like they’re children still playing with them or something.
1) They WERE meant to crossover for that Line--It was reported whey they used the bucks. Most fans already knew that. 2) Brandon already implied in the video they already have the license 3) Bandai's paint apps ARE garbage . Evidenced by the mud pit SDCC Lion-O . I dont need to debate it--Its there in color. 4) I can swap parts on a Mattel buck safely..Bandai was crappy SHINY hard plastic. I bought most of those Bandai figures and they were garbage. 5) Bias? You spent the entire video trashing Mattel--You dont even clearly understand the meaning of the word. Bandai put out 2 Classic T-cats figures . Mattel put out 7.Bandai didnt know jack about handling the license and the sculpts were basic. 6) If i blocked you, it was probably because of you being belligerent much like you are now or took it too far.
1) 2) Implication = / = evidence 3)The SDCC Lion-O is still LEAGUES above Matty’s paint apps. 4) Matty’s plastic is spongey, like I said. The Bandai plastic was hard, but it’s TOUGH. Seems to me your issue is that they’re shiny. Which is asinine. You’re praising a decade-old buck, so your subjective opinion is worthless. 5) Son, you’re mad because I pointed out the problems with Mattel on SEVERAL LEVELS. You see how you’re trying so DESPERATELY to focus on the buck and the licensing while ignoring literally ANYTHING ELSE? That’s because you don’t have a rational argument. You’re just mad that someone said something mean about a company that you’re fellating. 7). Neither, son. You blocked me because I took you to task on the childish hissy-fit you were throwing over the new She-Ra cartoon. And because you KNEW you couldn’t hack it, you blocked me. Belligerent? You clown, you’re in MY comments section. You came here all offended because I said mean things about a company that doesn’t even know your name. You’re pathetic. You didn’t address any of the actual criticisms here. All you did was throw a tantrum. Because that’s what all people LIKE you CAN do. You’re an artist. You know FULL WELL that Lion-O and He-Man aren’t the same build even down to MUSCLE STRUCTURE. You just can’t STAND it when someone says something about your toys. Here’s what you’re going to do; You’re going to either learn to act like an ADULT and discuss all the criticisms here point by point. Or You will be removed because you’re incapable of acting like anything short of a mental infant. Look at you. Selling your soul to a corporation for toys. You stupid little boy.
Sorry about the glitch on one of your art submissions, Kade! It only happened after I rendered the video and I'm not sure how to fix it. :(
LioConvoy's Reviews that's okay, its still good
Yes thank you thank you so much for saying that so many want to pretend the negativity is an attack on the person alone and man it's so dum

100% agree with everything you said.
I agree 100% on Dan. The whole point he interviewed the Mattel guy all he did is smile and nod his head In acceptance.
JH4073 He is well known soulless shill.
well like Jaga said Take the BAD with the GOOD.
Beautiful video! Great argument! Thanks for keeping it real bro!

EXACTLY.
Just ask Monster High.
Excellent points! And it's true that 'negativity' is how products improve! It is an essential part of business!
You opened my eyes to alot of things in this vid, Much Respect to you good sir.
I just want the 2011 cartoon back
All I want is a well sculpted, poseable and well painted Thundercats line. In other words I want Thundercats toys with real good quality!
Same here!

Completely agree on Pixal Dan. His job is to promote the samples he is sent. Retroblasting on the otherhand, tells it like it is.
Well looks like super 7 is the player now
Nice..the hypocritical panhandling at the end of the video. 'Please send me money' lol

Mattel making Thundercats...
Just doesn’t feel right.
Like Tonka making Transformers
More in a week than you make in a lifetime 😂🤣.....ya right! More like more in an hour than I'll make in a lifetime.
If we banned users for criticizing Transformers the Allspark name would be changed to "Kalidor and LioConvoy Fansite" because we'd be all that's left.

ThunderCats was N E V E R “meant” to crossover with MOTU.
“Mattel has the license”
Do they? I’m pretty sure they lost it when Mattycollector went under.
“You made superficial arguments”
No, I made factual ones based on industry standards.
2) Brandon already implied in the video they already have the license
3) Bandai's paint apps ARE garbage .
1)
2) Implication = / = evidence
3)The SDCC Lion-O is still LEAGUES above Matty’s paint apps.
Here’s what you’re going to do;
You’re going to either learn to act like an ADULT and discuss all the criticisms here point by point.
Or
You will be removed because you’re incapable of acting like anything short of a mental infant.
Look at you. Selling your soul to a corporation for toys. You stupid little boy.
