Maybe the title should be “Speed Run: Making Mistakes!” 😜 It’s somehow comforting to know that even a GM like Simon can also miss the same kind of stupid stuff that I do in blitz. Made me realise I shouldn’t hold myself to such a high standard and just have fun instead. Still very educational and entertaining content of course.
Thank you very much Simon for all videos presenting the Jobava system! I am just in the middle of OTB tournament trying to reach a national rank of 1800 points (2nd category) and I won my last game in just 20 moves by forced checkmate sequence. At this level the opponents are really helpless! Playing with white pieces I won 5 out of 6 games using the Jobava. Excellent job!
Ofc the audio is good, but we have to upload into 50 points, notice that I just normally need like 17 points. Its not a big deal, but it shows that something is wrong. Again, nothing major but its good that he knows it.
5:27 f4 looks more very annoying to deal with for white and if white doesn’t react, black can force the issue with c5 and he gets to white’s pawns faster due to the bad structure, black has some edge there.
Yup it’s instantly over because everything falls even after queen sac, Qxd6, Rxd6 and Rb1 followed by Rb8 and sac and Rd8 mate is an unstoppable idea which forces mate.
Yeah, I saw that too. I don’t think Simon was quite on his game. I initially thought that was the missed mate-in-2 from the title… but of course it’s not #2.
@@juleslondon3088 It's just that he was in safety-first mode. He sometimes does that when he has winning advantage yet there's no true glory to be had.
At 20:39, could you not have tried Ke2, rather than taking the Queen? Then if he takes your b1 Rook, you can take his Rook on h5. Or he can swap Queens, but in either case you don't lose material, other than maybe a Pawn or two in the Rook exchange line.
Interesting resource! After Ke2 Qxb1 Qxh5 it could get scary for White against Stockfish or a strong GM after Rb8 -- with the idea of invading the back rank to attack (or at the very least find a perpetual) --, but a 1900 would probably never dream of playing what looks like a N sac in that position (although Rb8 Rxc7?? runs into Rb2+ with Qe4#), at least not in Blitz. Well spotted!
Not sure what people are talking about in terms of sound, its perfectly fine for me and comparable to most videos on 60% volume on my phone, there is however the old beeping sound you get from phone signal being interrupted
Rdb8 and if Rxd7, R1b7 (not R8b7 because of Rd8+, very important to use correct rook). This forces the trade of rooks and if you actually assess the endgame, white is dead lost because black can use the b file whilst white cannot make further progress, also black threatens to win A pawn to queen his own A pawn which is unstoppable so white has to resign.
Very bad audio like you previous video could not hear a thing. Why youtuber always do that. Better to put too load that too quiet we can always put it down..
Simon is the clearest, most logical and effective teacher I have ever heard. Every video is like a master class!
Audio is a little quiet mate (previous upload too) but otherwise another highly enjoyable video - thanks!
Turn your volume up or get a decent phone!!!!!
Insightful advice, thank you Gazza.
@@barrysanchez6682 Ha ha
@@THEBOYDALEK do you really think he wrote the post without trying max volume. Think !
@@Ulujmf Funny how not everyone complains? THINK
Very instructive! Thanks ginger!
Your mistakes were at least as instructive as the other moves, thanks for including that last game in the video!
So likeable, so subscribeable!
This channel deserves far more subscribers than its current 76k.
Let's go 100k!!!

i have the same problem with the sound, too low. Everything at the maximum on my laptop. previous upload had the same issue
Simon good sir, volume on the intro is good then when you're playing it's a tad quiet. Minor complaint to an otherwise bloody good chess channel
Sound is fine for me, don't know what's wrong for others. Thanks for another quality speedrun video Simon. Love these!

Because u are people pleaser piece of shitttt. People need to say the truth to make something better.
Loving the series Simon 😁
it looks so simple when you do this!!!
Great vid!
I need speakers for this
yeah can't hear you Simon, turn it up a bit please
Audio levels are very low, it’s clear but very low. I have my iPad volume maxed out to comfortably hear the video.
I don’t think you needed to lose the rook. After Qh8+, if you went Ke2 then if he takes your rook, doesn’t your queen take his rook on the H file?
Yes, I had the same question
That final game goddamn, well done as always
Sound is a bit quiet.
this is the second video with terrible sound, I can barely hear you :)
Just FYI
That last game was probably the best games in the series :)
good stuff
nice background Simon - love it

Next speedrun should be the Colle-Zuckertort, based on your latest Chessable course. Just a suggestion.
And here I thought the missed mate in 2 was at the 12:32 mark when you could have played Qxf6 (it's not mate in 2, but he has to give up his queen).
Yup it’s instantly over because everything falls even after queen sac, Qxd6, Rxd6 and Rb1 followed by Rb8 and sac and Rd8 mate is an unstoppable idea which forces mate.
At 12:25, there is Qxf6. After one check, the king is safe on a1.
Yeah, I saw that too. I don’t think Simon was quite on his game. I initially thought that was the missed mate-in-2 from the title… but of course it’s not #2.

Simon, when are you going back to oslo with the rest of the gang? why wasen't you there this month? You & danny king commentating again?

@@maferreira1984 Rb8, Qh4 looks like a good try, to prevent Qe4 ideas and eye the d8 square for back rank checks. Looks decisive to me.

jar jar binks london!
The sound is too low :(
to everyone who thinks the audio is too low: there are two little buttons on the side of your phone. Press on + button many times.
please turn up the sound
Audio is really low, like 1/10 the volume of the intro.
