    I realize I’m a little too late for the game but I have to say that having had 3 of them (because stupidity made me want, first the ES and then a GSA) it’s MY bike! Had dozens of bikes in many years of riding and the Supertenere is surely a keeper. Mine is also the standard which is in fact my choice. The most reliable bike in the world. Love mine

      I love mine. I bought a blue one a year after this vid. It’s now got full Givi luggage and crash bars. It’s getting Arrow headers soon… but will stay stock apart from that.

      @@gastramp I’m very glad to now that. I’ve got a 2019 but in 60th years colors (yellow). The last owner got it painted in Yamaha (good for me!). Mine got the heed (From Poland) crash bars I bought to replace the Oem it came with, and also a full set of GIVI luggage (a Dolomiti top case and the Alaska side cases). I also installed a ZUMO XT with the Touratech lockable mount, the headlight protector (that I bought on Motea website - similar to the Yamaha one), a (trusty old) quad lock mount for my iPhone, the wind deflectors and nothing more. I also like to keep it as simple and original as possible. Enjoy yours and keep safe.

      I think if you're doing a long tour, engine noise is a con, not a pro. You want maximum comfort and a quiet engine is a part of that. I did 900 miles on my new naked cruiser. Fantastic experience but because of the noise and no windscreen 400 miles a day was rough and 300 was the comfortable limit. I see the benefit of a bike like the Yamaha now.

    Thanks for that. I gave up my BMW R1100RT the November of 2018 for something I’ve had before because of my health problems and that was for a Vespa gts 300ie. Yes big change, I love many aspects of the Vespa but since having my first one I’m embarrassed to say I’ve put even more weight on! I’m stuck in a lot and my leg strength due to my disability is getting pathetic. However although the 300ie can do 80 tops and 70 all day it still feels uninspiring , perhaps I’m chasing a lost dream but I would still love a bike over scooter, however getting my leg over a bike was getting painful to impossible so your review based on the fact you have used my previous bike counts for me. I aught to give up biking but that’s like giving up breathing. Anyway I just wanted to say thanks x

    • @gastramp
      @gastramp  4 роки тому

      Hi David, Sorry to hear of your health issues. The Tenere is heavy but the weight is very low down and it feels quite a bit lighter than my RT. Its not as tall as I expected but still not a 'low seat' I'm 5'7 and was comfortable on it... with the seat in the lower position. I know of one for sale with Doglegs on the suspension and on that one I could get my feet flat. ( I actually prefer the taller standard set up though )
      The good thing about altering the suspension is that the distance between the seat and pegs remain.... if you always lower the seat then your legs can feel cramped on long trips.
      I recon in your position i'd be looking at a 883 Harley with the lower shocks.... very low seat, fun to chuck about and they are bulletproof.
      Take care.

      Gas Tramp thankyou for the thoughts, it does love a lovely machine. I bought bikes with my heart not my head if that makes sense.
      At one time I did have an Honda Africa Twin, I could never get comfortable on that. I tried having the seat modded but it was still uncomfortable.
      The problem with it was the foot peg height, in that you needed to be 6ft-plus to touch the ground but 5ft to have your legs in a comfortable position. It killed the knees and backside. I loved my Kawasaki ZZR1100 but that was from just before I started to deteriorate to when my legs were loosing control I had to sell it before I dropped it at a junction etc. I also had a Yamaha Fazer1000 when they came out but that also became too hard to get my leg over without excruciating pain, cramp and numbness, yes I know I’m dropping to bits. I love my wheels so much. Cars are so boring to me. Stay safe and sunny side up brother xx

    Interesting perspective, I've come from old school biking with no heated grips, no cruise control, no hand protectors etc. So these are all great for me, the handling is much more controllable and accurate in corners than I'm used too, and the brakes are conjoined so your always using both when either is used, which is maybe why you felt the front brakes are less effective?? Anyway, you ride a BMW so maybe your already trying to compare a Porche with an tractor, and boy is the T12 a agricultural tractor!!!! Pretty good review though, being the old git I now am this bike is a great choice for me, I couldn't even check my blind spots properly any more on the Blackbird, but I get 350 views on this. I do and did find the rattling of the twin rather surprising and noisy, like the tappets are so far out of adjustment the engines gonna fail, but I have come from a big 4 that runs as smooth as silk.

    • @gastramp
      @gastramp  2 роки тому +2

      The older BMW’s are fairly agricultural to be honest. ( and I have an old Harley )
      I do a lot of miles all year round so heated grips really help. Cruise is a bonus. Thanks for stopping by 👍

    18:46 Yank here. What do these angeled lines on the road mean? Maybe the line painter had a beer too many at the pub? 19:32 "Push" to enter on a door. This is illegal in the states as doors on public buildings must open to the outside for emergencies. Oh, yes, I like the Super T.

    • @gastramp
      @gastramp  2 роки тому +3

      The angled lines are a no stopping or parking zone before and after a pedestrian crossing. It's actually an immediate fine and points on your license if you do.
      Doors can open both ways here. 👍

      There is no ECO mode programmed into the ECM. That is just what Yamaha calls an "economical riding indicator" that is active when you're not hooning about. The two riding modes are touring and sport.
