This kind of collaboration is the best thing that's happened for Top Fuel racing in a long time. I don't think people realize how high the stakes are in T/F, and the pressure these guys are under, it's cool to see them have fun again. Great advertising for Parts Plus, Clay is such a cool dude and the McFarland crew brings a whole different energy to the sport! I don't think it will be long before we see Cleetus in a T/F rail. The sky is NOT the limit for this guy. The man is a MASTER at marketing his brand and the best thing is that everyone around him wins too.

It actually could've been EM interference from the dragster's ignition system - it knocked out Ruby's ignition system.

Nitro meth fuel bumps the horsepower to insane numbers. That motor on race gas is probably making 1500hp. With nitro its making 7500hp

I cant stop watching the clip at 14:52 it just helps put in perspective the difference in speed. Some of the other angles dont do it justice like this one imho.
I went to Atlanta Dragway back in the late 1980's when these top fuel dragsters were only making 6000 hp. But sitting in the stands they are so loud they shake your insides. It is hard to describe how loud they are.
I honestly think the angle after that one shows it even more. The hood view still shows a big difference.

There is something absolutely INSANE that happens right at the 15:12 mark that I haven’t seen anyone comment on. When Clay is blasting by while Cleetus is giving Ruby everything she’s got, the energy being thrown off that dragster is so powerful that it pushes Cleetus (and Ruby) forward as he goes by. I've seen videos of these things run before, but that perspective out of Ruby's side window was something else, I don't even have words to describe it.
The engineering and skill to build it is crazy, but the sheer skill and talent to control it down the track.... He went past Cleetus like a bullet... I am in absolute awe of those guys. Forget flying jets or rockets... These guys are driving a really large bullet on a road between 2 walls... They are superhuman.

That would be a very slow bullet that you could easily see flying through the air. They are only moving at 484 feet per second, which is half of common lower powered pistol bullets. Faster pistol bullets and most rifle bullets break the speed of sound and cause the crack you hear. My 460 magnum revolver will spit them out at 1,636 mph. It did make Cleetus look like he wasn't moving and what is even more impressive is the acceleration at both ends of the track. How many people have to worry about damaging their eyes from the deceleration when they get off the throttle of their ride?
@@CGT80 yeah I know my analogy is incorrect.... If a bullet had wheels and had to overcome surface friction as well as air resistance it would be much much Slower than that dragster.... It wouldn't need 1 bigger explosion to propel it fast enough, it would need 8 of them happening really fast over and over just to keep up, and if it wants to win it needs some really sticky slicks and a big ass wing lol. Not sure how you fit a driver in a bullet so it can steer in a straight line though. lmao
If you are into cars and like HP then I promise you will not regret going to a Top Fuel event. The sensory overload is completely overwhelming and unreal. Go to an event and I promise you won't regret it.

@@nalley6815 I think the big thing with it is, something is reaching 300+ mph in 4seconds. It's mind boggling fast. Thats 5gs of force accelerating and parachute pulls are negative 8ish gs. A space shuttle launch is 3gs, an f22 reaches 9gs. So you're producing as much force as a fighter jet changing direction quickly at 1200 mph, on a road. The fastest cars on earth, could get a full speed head start and still lose easily to a completely stopped top fuel it's wild

Clay reminds me of John Force with his excitement/passion for what he does. Just the happiest guy to be where he’s at. And doesn’t take anything for granted!
Clay is WAY better than Force. Force is only excited for the cameras. When you're a fan, he just goes through the motions signing autographs and taking pictures. Clay will talk your ear off just because! I've met both and love Clay's genuine excitement to be lucky enough to do what he does for a living.

To me, this is an all-time fave video. Unless you've been up close and personal to a fuel car, there's no way to describe the experience. Clay and Rick Ware are super cool to let the exhibition run happen. Had no idea it would shut off an 8 second car when it passed it. Incredible. I hope Clay and team win the $250K. Clay (and Brent as well) are an example of a person of faith who shows their beliefs with their action and examples instead of preaching. Dave Sparks said it best on the Cboys podcast "Most people in our church are just normal people who live by example, be a good person, work hard, and treat others how you'd want" (Not his exact words), but it gives those of faith a good look.

Clay is such a great guy, he has like the great vibe that Brent has. Imagine you get in the lane next to a 11000hp Top fuel dragster and than be on the crew. Best experience ever. In F1 they should take notes, the commitment people would get if you could be this close to a F1 team is amazing. Same in FD, guys like Vaughn Gittin Jr. Pulls you in the sport like no other. This is how you represent the sport and passion between competitors and fans! ❤ loved every second of this video! Great job Cleetus! 👍🙏

This is partly why, as a motorsports guy, I just can’t seem to get into F1 after trying many times. There’s nothing quite like being at a NRHA event.

My guess is the stray EMP from those dual 60,000 volt 44 amp mags on Clay's rail freaked out Ruby's computer when it got close enough. The shielding probably isn't all that great on the aftermarket EFI control systems, and any long run of wire (like the leads going back to the rear mounted fuel pump, would act like an antenna for any stray EMF floating around close by. That said, this was one of the coolest events ever!😂 Cleetus probably felt like he got passed by a jet fighter on full afterburners!🤣😆👍👍
The highlight of this video was Clay putting Dalton's sticker on Ruby. You know Clay's love for these guys are real when he shares a piece of his late son's legacy with them!
Clay is the an inspiration and a perfect example of a genuinely loving and caring human being!
Ruby is a rolling memorial to the love of racing, that bumper with Ed and Dalton on it is priceless now.
