My mum just died yesterday. Her cancer had returned after 15 years and when they realised by accident it was already everywhere and she'd been in treatment for the last two years but she made everyone hide it from me (I live in a different country). I only knew when my dad suddenly told me yesterday that she was hospitalized and it's not looking good and all the rest. Then less than 12 hours after i found out, she was dead. How can God do that? I've had a hard time the last few years after leaving an abusive relationship and finally I found a decent job that would lead to more opportunities and I had made good friends and was slowly more confident and comfortable with myself and I thought things were finally looking up and I would work hard and save money to take my parents on holiday and so on. And then I just start work and I'm told that actually all this has been happening and I never knew and then that she's dead. I don't understand the point. Why must God do this? I just wanted my parents to be proud of me. She's still so young. And I cant make it back in time for the funeral coz of covid quarantine so my dad said to stay put and focus on work. I never got to say goodbye. When I found out she was already sedated and unconscious. When something seems to be going better, something bad always happens. I don't understand why. I don't even know how to begin to process this. My dad said when they found out the cancer had returned by accident, she said God told her that he'll heal her and to go for treatment. But he didnt. She believed till the end that he would. She never wavered. How do I even believe God is good
I'm so sorry. This is incredibly heartbreaking. No words I can offer give solace. I know God is there and He's wholly invested in you and your family. It feels cruel, and it feels like sometimes God is messing with us - but He isn't. Like Job, we have to believe that when we're going through loss, God will restore us - though are health may permanently fail. Finances dwindle. Our loved ones pass. God will repay us, in some way that we can't fathom. I'm sorry. I hope you surround yourself with people who help you grieve and support you as a person, and a loved child of God. John 12:44: Then Jesus cried out, “Whoever believes in me does not believe in me only, but in the one who sent me." This live is intentionally transient and inadvertantly tragic. God gives, God takes, and God gives again. Petition your complaints against God, He'll listen. Job 42:4-6: "You said, ‘Listen now, and I will speak. Therefore I retract my words, and I repent in dust and ashes.” Believe in Christ, trust in the hope of an afterlife, and that He'll sustain you - despite the immediacy of the pain. I'm there too. God understands that all of his children will suffer in life, and He intends to help them and tolerate the sufferings of this life. We believe in afterlife since God knows this terrible life CANNOT be our only chance for good things. 1 Corinthians 15:14-19: "And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied." We're growing as Christians, and if you're not one, I do hope you consider Christ's message that He has overcame the world and the gift is freely yours. If you are a Christian, I'm truly sorry that you're hard-pressed and are suffering. Indeed, Your Father hasn't forgotten you nor your family.

It was a template prayer. In practicality, we pray exactly what needs to happen, for example, "cancer, fail in this body. body, be healed." And then the person is healed and has no cancer, which is a great 'action'. Most people don't understand what prayer actually is... Prayer is commanding a thing to be as God wills it. Sadly most churches have been deceived and don't practice this. They bought the lie and beg God to change his mind instead of enforcing his will.
Bad things happen because God can't intervene without human agreement. He handed mankind the keys to the gateway between the spiritual realm and the physical realm. God is not controlling everything that happens. He is always working at getting a human to open the gateway for Him to come through and prevent or correct the bad things. When one of His children hears Him and obeys and opens the gateway, He comes into the physical realm and intervenes supernaturally.
I've been through God's process. I just have a different perspective on it. You believe that it was God's will for you to suffer while He carried you through it. I believe He was carrying me out of it because it was not His will for me to be in it. I've been through my share of hell on earth. This is true in the context of failed plans. But in the context of a 5 year old getting raped by a parent, it is just an attack from the enemy and not from God in any way, and God is doing everything He can to intervene.
You have 3 choices. Either he can't, or he won't, or good is bad and bad is good. Take your pick. There are plenty of things God can't do. He even lists some of them in the Bible. Most importantly, he can't contradict himself, lie, or have any darkness in him. God has laws of himself, just like we have laws of physics. If he breaks a law of who he is, then he and everything he made would cease to exist. This puts certain limitations on him.

We all have to go through it at one point or another. For most people it happens late in life, but for some like myself it happened through my youth and i just go out of it. :)

:) that is not entirely true... when you read the bible you can tell that there are bad things that God made happen... the well known example is Job... but everything concurs to the ones who love God,... and bad things contribute to make us more like the image of Christ. It is not about us, what we want or what we like... but about what God wants from us.

i'm knockin' at you for your beliefs.. but if you're doing this purely because you enjoy ripping at people for their beliefs, i'm not sure you're doing it for the right reasons.. now, if you were doing this just for purely trying to find truth in all this earth/life nonsense, then kudos. i have an appreciation for truth-seekers. hecklers on the other hand...
heaven is a place, not some abstract idea. I am sorry religion has left a bad taste in your mouth. It did me too. But I found Jesus, it's not about religion. Jesus had the same problem, he loved the lost and broken, and he had the most confrontation with the religious. Just read the gospels.when you get to the point you get past religion, then you are free to start seeking a relationship with God, Jesus, and those around you. God is good and he is the truth.
