The honest truth is that there are very few lakes where you can put the shift all the way down for more than two minutes. I've been boating for over 15 years, and have raced many boats on the great lakes; it's the only place I can go where I live to speed, lol. Not to mention, you can't go.in nearly as shallow water with the prop submerged i the water. Trolling motors are good for that though.

@@jurridoras4001 lower unit has low water pickup therefore had plenty of foot in the water for impeller pickup, I did not “forget” to put it in gear that was a light rev show casing it doesn’t really get much louder.... also that was about a 3/4 throttle launch this is a freaking pro xs made for tournament launches and speed if I wanted a babied little bitch motor I’d have bought a regular 4 stroke... pipe down kid I’ve had more boats than you’ve had wet dreams...
Curious what the top speed is with this motor on a standard 20-ish ft fishing boat. I grew up around boats in the 90s. My neighbor had a Merc 200 on a 19-20ft Nitro when that 200 was the big dog outboard, probably '96-'97. Went out with him a few times and he let me drive it on calm morning water. Hit 72mph, and it'd run mid 60s all day long without even stressing. I know the law of diminishing returns heavily applies to horsepower in boats, but this type of setup has to run 80mph or so I'd think?
ur going against the entire outboard motor idea, its meant to be in the water as the engine is water cooled and entirely self contained within that little area(other than fuel, but on really low horse models they can have it). They are used a ton on fishing boats because of how much space it saves.
Boat motors always amaze me with how powerful they are in such a small package.
Some of these outboards are huge now though😹
