Could you duplicate my Anschutz 1813 supermatch stock? Finding one of these stocks is impossible due to the fact they don't make them anymore. I want to refinish my original one.
Hello. I was wondering, if you dont make this for sale, could you possibly share the 3d model of this stock? I would like to use it as a basis for my 3d modelling practice. If it's possible, i will give my e-mail.
what software did you use to cut the stock into step layers? In other words, the roughing you did until 2:00. I have a 3d model of my stock but have no idea how to cut it like that.
Hello. This is amazing work but I was wondering what's left to do as final finish and how you do it, like final sanding, etc. Do you do that by hand? Also, what's the real time it takes from start to finish to carve the stock shown in the video? Thank you.
awesome. you measured and did the inletting in cad or you had a .STL with all the features prior to do the machining? Blank looks awesome as well - you laminated it yourself? I'd like to see more of this :D
what was the reason for using such a small end mill at the beginning of te video? was it just a matter of not wanting to add another tool change? or was it just what you had on hand?
+HomeAudioProject Its a 1/2" roughing end mill. when your moving fast, you can use a lot of HP even with a 1/2" bit. I only have "3.25" HP. porter cable is lying about the HP just like everyone else does. realistically 2 hp is probably about the max on a standard 20 amp house circuit.
+TheDbsharp Ohh, gotcha. Didn't think about what you were using to spin the end mill. In my head, I just assumed you were using some sort of CNC Bridgeport or something similar
Would you consider making something other than fun stock?? All wood and might be easier than fun stock too. The body to the Hmong instrument. Lmk. Thanks.
I might make my design open source one day. I'm still working on it though... slowly. Gotta make an enclosure and way covers. I'm making a proper cubicle too.
If I do, I will post it here: www.cnczone.com/forums/cnc-wood-router-project-log/159262-dbsharps-aluminum-cnc.html Its unlikely that Ill ever make proper drawings for it, but I will probably release the 3d, and maybe the wiring schematics at some point because I would never make these to sell,
No, I haven't made once since this. It really takes a ton of work and time, and the business is restricted and under regulations I didn't want to deal with.
This machine is not very efficient but is versatile. So this takes a long time to cut. Cnc machine time us usually expensive as is this kind of material.
Just thought I'd give a secondary response. Even if the machine was faster, to produce a stepper and finish quality off the machine the step over percentage for the cutter has to be small enough not to create a million lines that need to be sanded off after processing. Not to mention the amount of time it takes in cad to model a stock, along with the fact of using cam software to create all the toolpaths needed for 4th axis work. I'd say the amount of knowledge alone needed for this project warrants a high price. I also like to cover the topic that those blanks of spectra wood can cost an upwards of 2-300 each. So the cost is by far fair for one off custom stocks.
Is this a pretty decent program for 3D Modelling? Could you do toys, tools, etc? What program do you use for the modelling process? I would imagine if you could do Gunstocks, you could do a wooden barstool, or a mouse of wood, correct? No?
Jacob Macon all kinds of stuff. Takes a lot of time to setup and program and plan to cut something like this, so it's usually better to make a lot of something and sell, or just go buy it.
***** hi would it be possible for you to send me your email address so i can send you some information about this Chinese cnc router with the rotary setup on it thanks Stephen
How much does one of them machines cost can you tell me what kind and what brand that is? thank you nice work digging the color of the stock and it looks awesome.
I would love to be able to take on your projects. Unfortunately, I cannot enter into the business of manufacturing guns or their accessories due to the high cost of being ITAR compliant. I also cannot take possession of your parts without a FFL, so designing parts would also be challenging. Hell, there might even be some local laws I'm not aware of too.
I can't take on any projects at this time, however to make something similar to what you have seen I would have to charge $500-$600 to make it worth it. It takes a good amount of time to model this and develop g-code. Obviously, more volume = lower price, and I may even develop stocks for some of the more popular air-rifles in the near future.
you do awesome work. that looks nice.. would you be interested in making a stock for me.. I have been wanting a nice thumbhole stock for my 1022 that I can get in bare wood and finish myself but everyplace you look they are prefinished.. I have a few nice pieces of well cured wood I can send you one if you can run it off.. what would you charge if I sent you the wood.. thanks again for the great video
I can't do it. I would have to make around 300+ stocks a year for it to be worth while to register with ITAR. Maybe some day I will get setup to make a small company, I just don't have the space or capitol to make it happen now.
are you kidding me, legaly you cant accept a raw piece of wood without legal trouble,, this whole gun laws thing is out of control, its just plain stupid when a person cant accept a piece of wood and form it,, it sounds like it would be hard to be in the business,, do you know of any one elce who is good that can make a thumbhole stock for a 1022,, I can do the finish sanding and put the finish on it and supply a blank I just need to find someone who can do the mill work,, thanks and good luck,, great work
Muito legal, estou querendo fazer uma coronha para minha carabina e preciso do arquivo do projeto em PDF, será que poderia disponibilizar? agradeço desde já
Nice! You're machine is moving at a good clip! I'm curious, what did you use for CAM? I like how it drills the holes (spiral down not just a stepped plunge).
Love it! Would you mind sharing what software you are using? Did you make your own G code? I have been doing 2.5D stuff for a long time now, and then some 3D relief, but no full 3D yet. I would love to try a project like this.
I have a lot of Black Walnut trees on my property. I was told that one tree got the previous owner $6,000. I was also told that Black Walnut makes excellent gun stocks. If I do cut the trees what is a good blank sizes that gun stock builders would want? I know that there is everything from the modern PCP pellet rifles with short stocks to the long black powder guns.
It requires a great deal of fab tools and skill to make something like this, but if you have access, give it a try. I think I will upload this to grab cad for others to see and learn from soon.
Sure thing, but I'm not absorbing the cost of itar registration for one job, so that will run you $2500+ for one set of grips. You buy em in bulk and your cost per grip set goes way down. Still interested?
Bit of wet look varnish on that to really make those colours pop - perfect
Fantastic job! I just love to see these projects come to life.
Life-changing product!
Great music and beautiful gun stock
soon I be doing custom gun stocks, grips, knives,Hun handles ,hand gun skins ,,,,from olive wood
how is olive wood to work with?
What the hell is a hand gun skin
Where can i find g code file for K98 custom stock ???

Thanks!
What is the name of the wood and its manufacture?
Hello.
I was wondering, if you dont make this for sale, could you possibly share the 3d model of this stock? I would like to use it as a basis for my 3d modelling practice. If it's possible, i will give my e-mail.
What kind of wood do you use that it's different colors

Is this for the Mossberg MVP Varmint?
Why is the front of the stock so massive?
Wonderfull, how many time it takes to complete?

Sand and finish by hand. About 3 hours. Thanks!
What kind of wood is that?
awesome. you measured and did the inletting in cad or you had a .STL with all the features prior to do the machining? Blank looks awesome as well - you laminated it yourself?
I'd like to see more of this :D
That took a lot of coding. A lot of tool time as well with the light cuts. Nice work.
Yes, I had about 40 hours of CAM programming for this. A pro who does it everyday should be able to do it alittle faster though.
@@TheDbsharp What software did you use?
what type of material used and that the lamination? and wood?

Awww... Ok. Lmk when it does. :)

Hello, would you happen to have the name of the CNC machine you use and the software? Thanks!

+TheDbsharp Nice! I have been searching on the web to source parts but haven't any luck, I would love to build one for myself.
Do u take order from usa? I would love to have one make by you. Thanks
WHAT WOOD IS IT?
Hello, Did you start making airgun stocks? If so, i am interested in getting one for a FX Wildcat MK3. Thank you for sharing, it looks great!
No, I haven't made once since this. It really takes a ton of work and time, and the business is restricted and under regulations I didn't want to deal with.
I'd love to see this with some Claro Walnut.

what was the total run time for a complete stock. i am thinking investing in a cnc mc from the far east.
About 2hr 30 min. I could make it a lot faster with more work on feed rates and cleaning up the code.

what kind of wood was used, thank you was wonderful
stained birch laminate. its called colorwood
Thank you very much for your attention
Would you care to explain how this multi level color effect is obtained? Are pieces of wood, which were stained differently, glued together?
I've been searching the Internet and cannot find colorwood in blanks larger than 3/4"×3/4"×5". Do you have a source for larger stock you can share?
I am still shooting this rifle. It is a tack driver
That's awesome Mike! Did the stock work well?

Obrigado. Eu não tenho isso para PDF, mas eu estaria ok para enviar um arquivo 3D, eu nunca farei isso comercialmente. Boa sorte com seu projeto.

It's expensive and I've only seen it to order online.
