Milo has a fairly long bite history and is both easily excitable (he’s a spaniel) and fearful. He’s a very stressed out dog. As a result of that bite history, his family have become justifiably wary of taking him out in public places for fear of something very serious occurring. The problem with that is the outside world just becomes more exciting and scary the more he’s sheltered from it. That cycle is getting broken *today.* Milo’s world is getting a whole lot bigger, but it’s all going to happen on a very short leash. That’s how I communicate to him that I have control. All he has to do is soak it all in safely while he does what he’s told.
