The purpose of this channel is to demonstrate the skills dogs are learning to their owners. It also provides a permanent reference on how they’re trained so they can always refer back for ideas while they are working with their dogs.
If you get something from my videos and aren’t a client, that’s great.

These two dogs have assisted in stabilizing quite a few dogs. I’m a little disappointed they and their owners are moving. I bet the neighbors aren’t.
"Heel" and "Here" sound so much alike. Would "Come" be a les confusing command than "Here"?
‘Heel’ and ‘here’ are sufficiently different for dogs to distinguish between the two commands. I don’t know that anyone’s done the research to confirm or deny this, but I believe ‘here’ to be the more common recall command used by bird hunters or trainers of bird dogs. As a trainer, I favor ‘here’ mostly because an owner is more likely to have improperly trained ‘come’. Really, it doesn’t matter. ‘Whoa’ and ‘no’ are a lot closer and there’s never any confusion.
Awesome! That made my day! The worrying about the stick is so typical for him
Looking at the video now, I realize the stupid stick was only freaking him out in one direction. It’s a good example of why you don’t entertain fear. I pushed him past it and he gained confidence. This drill translates directly to responsiveness at heel.
He looks good! I am just going to say it. None of the people walking through did the figure 8’s
The purpose of this drill isn’t any particular command. It’s to simply have him following direction while there’s a lot of loud, scary, exciting things happening around him. Praise: Attention on me, compliance to commands. Correction: Noncompliance.
Sorry for the abrupt cut out at the end. It was an editing mistake.
🥰🥰
Dad is bad owner. How about giving Milo a blanket and water bottle that hangs on the side of the cage. I think you could afford a larger cage.
Milo chose that crate over another three 3x its size and shoved all bedding aside so he could relax on the cool smooth plastic tray. Water bottles in crates are a classic mistake that teaches dogs to be miserable in their crate. Dogs are den animals and frequently feel safer in a more confined space. Also dogs with thick undercoats can be made very uncomfortable by bedding causing them to overheat. You don’t leave water in the crate, because inevitably you’ll be away for an extended period of time and you make it more likely your dogs bladder will be full. Now you’ve turned the crate from a sanctuary of peace and comfort to a place of desperation and discomfort. People who make this mistake tend to have dogs that are poorly housebroken. I’m not his daddy and he’s not my son. Milo is a dog who I’m training to get past some significant behavioral issues. So say what you want about me, and leave his daddy out of it. 🤣
chill out dad
You wouldn’t say that if you knew Milo’s history. This board and train is high stakes for Milo.
A cicada tried to mate with it? 😂
Yep. True story. I was sanding a neighbors deck and afterwards used the blower to get rid of the dust. That’s when the giant insect was all over my hand. Gross and cool at the same time.
When we had our girl fixed they put a small tattoo to indicate so. If your pup is fixed that mean the same.
Yeah that means he is fixed.
Thanks! Yep, I’ve had that confirmed from several sources. I’m very surprised I haven’t come across that before. I guess I’ve been working with too many pure bred dogs.
The Animal Humane Society gave him that when they neutered him!
Thanks!
Milo has a fairly long bite history and is both easily excitable (he’s a spaniel) and fearful. He’s a very stressed out dog. As a result of that bite history, his family have become justifiably wary of taking him out in public places for fear of something very serious occurring. The problem with that is the outside world just becomes more exciting and scary the more he’s sheltered from it. That cycle is getting broken *today.* Milo’s world is getting a whole lot bigger, but it’s all going to happen on a very short leash. That’s how I communicate to him that I have control. All he has to do is soak it all in safely while he does what he’s told.
I'm guessing he is a little freaked out and distracted by the busy road nearby (based on past experience) so he did really well, considering that especially!
Pretty much all dogs have the same first session with me. Milo’s performance was about average. What he struggled most with in this video is a) slowing down and not getting in front of me during left turns and b) not pulling the lead taught away to the side during the straight-aways. He improves quite a bit by the end. Once he gives me his attention rather than just responding to corrections is when things get better.
I just love watching this video. She’s a plucky and maybe foolhardy little bunny. Thanks for sharing this, Chris!
I come back and rewatch this now and again too. Maisie is turning into a great dog.
I made this mistake actually...was only giving legs and a thigh and it made him a little sick I think. Going to only leg quarters now. It has the spine attached for calcium.
It’s perfectly OK to feed dogs other types of protein. As a matter of fact, you should! Feeding only chicken can give dogs an allergy to it. Look up: canine chicken allergy. You can give completely boneless protein, but then you *must* add the calcium yourself. If you don’t, at minimum, you’ll give your dog diarrhea. At worst you can mess up their calcium/phosphorus level and make them very sick. Eventually, if it continues, they’ll begin leeching away the calcium in their own bones. The way I do it is I buy human grade Calcium from Walmart or any pharmacy, crush up between 600-1200 MGs of the pills and mix it in the meal. SUPER IMPORTANT DETAIL: Get calcium that is *not* fortified with D3. I can’t stress this enough! Dogs produce D3 on their own and the additive will make them sick.
@@sswwooppee Yeah ive been using pork ribs and some chicken for now. I noticed he wont really touch most raw meat unless it sits out for a few hours and gets to room temperature.
@@Tinfoiledhat as long as your dog is chewing his food properly, it doesn’t matter whether it’s frozen or not.
Creating pugs and dogs like pugs is the worst thing in people have done to the dog breed. They are adorable and they're so cute but they're breathing is just terrible and it's not healthy for them
I just train dogs. I don’t design them.
Yow, springs in those little legs. What a girl!
Guess she’s not vegan after all…
Best friends!
She loves those ear scratches and sure lets you know…
Yes she has a tail. It’s called a bunny tail! But the wag is undetectable, just like with a bunny…. She sure looks happy. But she’s always happy around Arthur.
What a brave girl! That vacuum cleaner is pretty darned scary😮
😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Cool (and hungry 😅) dog! How old and what breed is she? And can digest that entire piece okay? It would be neat to see another full raw feeding (chicken wing, steak, etc.) vid or two if possible, keep it up! 😀
Puck went home months ago, so no more videos of her are getting made by me. Puck is some kind of terrier mix. Chicken leg quarters are the preferred cut of meat because they have the right balance of protein and calcium. Yes, she digests just fine. Raw bones are good for dogs. Cooked bones splinter and are dangerous. Chicken bones are hollow, and easily crunched up by a dog with healthy teeth.
That’s what I figured. I don’t see you doing the chaotic dog park thing…
Bet she took a long nap after this session. A lot of brain exercise!
What you can’t see is the 30 dogs running around not far away. This was a bigger challenge than it looks like on video.
Parking lot at High Bridge dog park? Plenty of distractions!
@@Sara-z5x1u not actually in the dog park. Just in front of the gate. I’m maximizing the number of dogs Chuck and Maisie have to ignore.
Awesome job!
My Boston Terrier is an 18-pound puppy. Why not chicken wings, pork neck bones, and some liver and gizzards, and an egg?
Those are all good things nutritionally. The issue with pork neck bones is they are mechanically cut. They can have sharp edges dogs can hurt themselves with.
Unrequited love…
Too cute! Welcome to winter, Chuck!
Chuck is the man.
Chuck is a great guy. He really just needs to learn how to behave around other dogs. He’s only on day two. He’ll get it.
A very handsome pretty much agreeable student!
those adorable dogs would never i tell ya never! i take full responsibility, it was me
Sorry for the long shot of my ass. It’s surely not what anyone wants to see.
Omg so cute! lol
Jeez, they’re like the Blue Angels!😊
Without the catastrophic accidents!
Woke, Maisie has come so far! Excellent student!
Good dogs❤
I love Maisie trying to see the ball under her perch.
Herding cats!!
Well, Frenchies are known fart culprits…
he who smelt it dealt it, dude
denny was so close until he bolted at the end! (spoiler alert!)
Yeah, I messed up. I should have had a leash on him so I could stop him before he got to the food. Mistakes happen. You just move on. 🤷♂️
the absolute cutest!
That Dennis is a cutie. And Maisie, what a good girl. Arthur is, as usual, dignified…
Nice
Maisie wants to be a hunting dog too!
Couldn’t be cuter. Pretty excited about that chicken, but what control!!
