This is an absolutely beautiful ramcharger. Sounds fantastic. Chrysler definitely has had the best sounding engines they're big blocks and small block sound better than any of the others

I had one in the 80's with a 318. Lived in Wyoming, had a chance to get it stuck in snow, water, rough terrain and anything else, problem is it could power it's way out of all of it. If you needed a recovery truck this was a pretty good one.

Factory 440 ramchargers are pretty rare. 1978 was the last year for the 440. I can imagine the production numbers must be pretty low. Mine is an 84, manufacture date sept 83.

I've had 4 70's Ramchargers, an 84 and a 90 in my lifetime and yes only the 70's had removable tops, but all of them were standard factory hardtops. Never in my 40 years of owning Mopars (still do) have I heard or seen a factory standard soft top. Hell, not sure if you could even order one from the factory, but I do know they did, and still do make aftermarket soft tops for Ramchargers. My favorite though, was my 78 with the 440. It was an old county sheriff's rig. I put a roll bar in it and made a bikini top for it and ran it around the summer all the time. After repairing the typical floor pan rust, I Rhino lined the interior. Btw, its typical for old Mopars to have faulty fuel gauges. If you pull the instrument panel out, on the back behind the 4 gauges, ther will be a module that looks like a AA battery, its not, but that module is usually the culprit.

Chrysler was the only one to offer a big block in both the Ramcharger and the Trailduster. Always made me wonder why Ford didn't try the 460 (Fuel economy by 1978 I guess). GM never tried the 454 in 4WD until the 90s when they managed to improve economy a little. Kudos to Chrysler for giving us all options

Sorry but I've been into this stuff for many years and yes I did buy a new Blazer right from the dealer with a 454 and just because you've never heard of one or seen it doesn't mean it wasn't made. They might not have made that many but I do they made at least 1 who knows but I do know it came from GM with a 454. And far as the 460 in a Bronco I've seen a few but I can't say if they were purchased that way or swaps done. I have a 70 Lincoln with a 460 and a 95 Chevy truck with a 454 I suppose you're going to tell me those aren't Factory either LMAO. Man some people are rude I'm damn sure glad I'm not like that.

Dave's Radio Repair u should get ur shit right buddy. He's talking about a production line not special order truck. Any manufacture will do wat ever u want if u have the funds. Also I've seen all three motors perform built and stock. Chevy and Ford had nothing in the Reputable 440. Even look at a shootout muscle magazine did. They did less to the Mopar and it still whooped that was so next time U wanna bump ur gums do ur home work lmao

False for production. True for special order!

Lee Iacocca signed off on a 1968 Ford WAGON to have a 428 Cobra Jet with 4-speed...saw the sign-off papers on it, ONLY 1-of-1 MADE IN 1968 (or ever for a wagon with a 4-speed, for that matter)...that was 1968, that was a special order, and that was NOT PRODUCTION RUN!
That said, you could get the LS-7 in select Chevelles in 1971...that does NOT mean they produced ANY LS-7 454 Chevelles on the STANDARD PRODUCTION LINE for 1971!
Don't be dense...production is where they are churned out to sit on a car lot for 10-months, until someone buys it...special order means it was not made until a customer placed the order for THAT SPECIFIC CAR. GM called it 'COPO', Ford had both SVO and 'Fleet Orders' (where 'otherwise not approved' cars could be specially ordered').
This doesn't even begin to take into account BIG DEALERS, like Bristow, Yenko and others who had their own custom shops building full-blown racing engines and dropping them off in 'after purchase' sports cars for customer orders, either.
