Great job! God, I absolutely *CANNOT* get over how you nailed the Season 1-2 brake sound. It sounds completely accurate here. I can't stand when others use the in inaccurate version, especially incessantly.
This is a pretty nice adaption. I do like the original scenes you added particularly when the two diesels were on their way down with Gordon and Scotsman double-heading a train and well I did enjoy Arthurs remark. Scenes were a bit long in parts but the sense of originality is always welcome especially when so many have adapted this story now. I've got to say there's that many adaptions of Super Rescue I cannot be bothered watching them all but I thought I would stop by. Regards from one of the very first to adapt it in Trainz many years ago :)
Not gonna lie, it's stuff like the first to do super rescue reaching out to the newest to do it makes me proud to have stuck around for so long in the fandom... it's worth it for these interactions
You know? Going to hospital and being afraid of a hospital operation is similar to having a failed regulator. Henry's determination partly inspired me to look again and face a fear.
Good show with this! I agree that the decision to use no TVS music for an RWS adaptation is a great choice. Good use of various ones from British productions, reminds me of Tardisrescue’s vast profile. Not sure if this was on purpose but at some points your narration reminded me of Damocles’ take on the storytelling.
Happy Birthday 4F Productions. That was a splendid video. I loved the extended scenes with the train journeys, the rescue and the other engines you put into the story, Molly, Neville, Arthur, and Jinty (I think it was him). I so loved the beginning bit where Gordon and the Flying Scotsman gave Emily a big surprise at the station :D .
Separate note, driving an engine solely on reverser is definitely doable. Some smaller G-scale live-steam locomotives do this, since there's only enough space for one servo for RC control.
I won't lie, that was truly epic. I was expecting a visual of the SiF audio adaptation, but I suppose you could make do with extra scenes while narrating the actual story. Plus, having music from _Mouse Hunt_ in certain Thomas videos is always a treat.
LMFAO Using Star Trek 2 The Search for Spock music during the actual rescue was fucking fantastic If there is any Locomotive in the Railway series that could go by the name Enterprise Henry would be at the top of my list!!!
May I respectfully correct the both of you - the second bit of music comes from ST3 - Search For Spock! I ought to know. A 40 year veteran Trekker would - most DEFINITELY do so! The borrowing of the NCC 1701 - is what that is. And Henry definately was ' ENTERPRISE ' ing !
Amazing video! The music, the voice actors and the models were excellent! Really good work! And I loved that beginning with Gordon and The Flying Scotsman pulling the express while seeing the diesels! Outstanding work! Also happy 22nd birthday! 🎂 🥳
The inspiration of putting Giants of Steam in that sequence was actually from Unlucky Tug's video on Scotsman's USA tour video, as I thought that was a very genius way to open the discussion with that track playing in the background.
@@4fproductions637 how did you use the theme song from a bridge too far without getting in to trouble with copy right And how can I use it in a future vid?
This has to be your best video yet! Your Super Rescue adaptation was amazing and looks very clean with the visuals and setting! Hope you have a wonderful birthday!
Never understood the technical side of this story. I thought it said Henry’s regulator had failed and so he can only go backwards, but then he is pulling/pushing going forwards. Then it says 7101’s injection failed and his breakers came on and he couldn’t go on, then it says he can pull if Henry’s breaks are off. Always seemed odd to me. Great adaptation though, looks amazing
I always wondered that myself tbh, so I did some digging around to see how the regulator and reverser on a steam engine work, and this is how I think it work: The regulator is for controlling the amount of steam the engine gets, so it being jammed in a half-opened position is probably what allowed Henry to move. There reverser, although it sounds like it's for reversing the engine, it's more like a gearbox, changing the ratio of steam getting to the cylinders, and it can be put both in forwards and backwards position. So Henry was probably being driven using the reverser to control his speed instead of controlling the regulator for that. Hope it helps!
The injector thing is simpler, the coaches breaks are kept off by supplying constant air, so diesel engines have injectors that constantly blow air. When D7101's injector failed, the coaches didn't have the air anymore so they had the brakes on. Steam engines instead of having injectors have break pipes, which blow steam to the coaches to keep their brakes off, so connecting Henry's brake pipe to the coaches a them to move once again, and 7101 can help move them as well since only his injector failed and he could control his own brakes
this looks fantastic, can you start listing your PC specifications in your descriptions? i would love to know what powerhouse you have as this is the best looking Trainz movie i have seen
do I detect that as well as a Railway Series fan, your also a star trek fan, as I couldnt help but notice hints of Star Trek II the Wrath of Kahn theme tune when Henry was coupled up to the passenger train. I dont have a clue to the other music.
Smoke deflectors? I think Scotsman is the only one to receive them, but some models here doesn't have them afaik, as this Scotsman looks like an actual A3 rather than a green Gordon.
Ah well at this time he had the smoke deflectors removed like real life (when Alan Pegler owned him he didn't have them). In "Tenders for Henry" Flying Scotsman does reference them though. He says to Gordon "I had a rebuild too and looked hideous but my owner said I was an extra special engine and made them give me back my proper shape". Under his current ownership the NRM wanted him to be as close as possible to his condition in the 60s while in service with British Railways which had the Smoke Deflectors and of course still does to this day. When he was first withdrawn from British Rail Alan Pegler came forward to buy him and had him put back to his earlier LNER look.
Just to comment on the whole Steam vs Diesel thing... Steam: Technically more reliable in that it's capable of limping home in the case of a failure. Lots of torque throughout the entire power band. Less prone to catastrophic failure. More prone to minor failures due to mechanical complexity. Significantly higher maintenance. requires two fuel sources (water and a combustible fuel). Coal is about the worst thing you could burn in terms of environmental impact (only applies to coal-burning locomotives). Explosive catastrophic failure state. Diesel: Requires only one fuel source. Less prone to minor failures. Cheap and easy to maintain. Lots of torque at slow speeds (especially with Diesel-Electric models). Requires only one fuel source More prone to catastrophic failure, as a failure in the engine is likely to cause the whole engine to seize. Less destructive catastrophic failure state. And just for comparison: Electric: Less prone to catastrophic failure. Less prone to minor failures. Does not require on-board fuel. Cheap and easy to maintain, even more so than a diesel-electric. Lots of torque at low speeds. Minimally destructive catastrophic failure state. Limited to electrified lines. Requires either overhead lines, which limit vertical clearance, or power rails, which result in increased road crossing complexity in order to isolate powered rails from road and pedestrian traffic. Requires external supply of electricity.
Well done Mark! I think you should give the Spiteful Brakevan a backstory when it comes to how he became spiteful to engines. I thought it was funny when Arthur roasted the diesels too. What'll happen to Spamcan - shall he get scrapped? Likewise, just wondering why Douglas didn't take the tankers? Wasn't he pulling them in the next story, Escape?
In one instance. He ended up replacing Diesel 10 at the waste dump with Whiff and another engine! I suspect that was one possible explanation of many alternative fates of Spamcan.
What a grand episode!
Gordon and the Flying Scotsman double heading was an elegant treat for sure!
Especially considering that they are brothers, with Gordon being the older one
can you imaging how fast they whould go
Great job!

Hi
Sometimes doing something, a little bit different is not a bad idea. It's still quite likable.
When the world needed him the most, he returned
Bro he was only gone for two months
Sans Peter Griffin my bad
D199 looks SO big against 7101. Also Scotsman and Gordon so cool.
This is such a cinematic take on Super Rescue, with all the angles, and that unique intro. Love it!

This would have been a perfect TV adaption episode!
Wow I'm actually quite glad you used the "A Bridge Too Far" theme for Bear's rescue
And Star Trek 3 Search for Spock! And Spamcan was the ' A Bridge too far!' tune for the first rescue of that!

One bit I like is Bear's brakes squealing as he goes past, as his injector was already failing by that point.
Out of D199 & D7101, 7101 could stay on Sodor as 7101 did try to shut Spam Can (D199) up which to me says the 7101 is on Sodor's steam engines side.
that is what happened
Yeah 7101 becomes Bear later on
@@TheDefiantPirate- absolutely correct! And it was James who gave him the name.
@@stephenfarthing485 No that's just a fan story.
Might be true in one respect. But D7101 definitely became known as Bear! And like Boco - he became much trusted by the Steam Engines.

what a pleasant surprise, I loved the Inclusion of Emily and Giants of Steam; you certainly are getting better with these!

Cool remake. I haven't read the story, but this gave me a good look into the plot of the story.
7101 became known as Bear!

It sounds like you found the original source of what was heard in "A Better View For Gordon".
May you please show me where you found it?
It's from the 1964 film "The Train." Same film where that classic braking sound comes from.
@Brandon Polley May I ask, where did you get Toby’s Bell [Season 4-12] from?
Never understood the technical side of this story. I thought it said Henry’s regulator had failed and so he can only go backwards, but then he is pulling/pushing going forwards.

What is the music that was playing during the credits called?
But 199, this is Sir Topham Hatt's railway and he likes all his engines. And steamies and diesels are supposed to work together.
