Longwave never got the due some other indie bands did (Strokes, National, Death Cab, etc....), but damn did they deserve it, this song still gives me goosebumps
This video just proves that there's nothing that beats that 15-23 year old timeframe. You feel like the entire world is set forth before you and that you can do anything. It's the absolute peak of the powers of humanity.
2003, I was in college in China. I remember listening to this song over and over. It takes me back to the days when I used to skateboard everyday. And I used to be so excited to introduce you guys to all my friends. They loved you too. Just wanna let you know that you have fans in China.
it is 20 yrs since it came out? i remember it was like a tuesday and i had just finished watching War Of The Worlds with Com Truice and dialed in UMs' college radio station and was hooked from the first sec.
Loving the guitar rift! This song is awesome! It’s 2020 and I’m just discovering them, man, I wish I could have heard them sooner! I would have loved to watched them play live.
@@ZX-ou5op That’s awesome! Thanks! well, here’s hoping it does not implode and I get to see them! 😎 during scary times, something to look forward to is nice, as laughter is to keep from crying 😁
Oh my friend, you are in for a treat. I’ve been listening to these guys since their first record. The lead singer does A TON of side projects too. But for sure check out on UA-cam Live at the Bowery Ballroom. They have the whole show on here and it’s so good. Their second album doesn’t get enough love it deserves but they are worth the listen and then some!
I bought the album while an undergraduate in NYC, when the city was just recovering from the shock that was 9-11. There was so much confusion but so much hope too. It was a strange time. This song graced so many of my evening walks downtown
This song legit is life! I absolutely love this song! Listen to it on the beach, at the pool, on the road through mountains, at home, during sleep, on the way to work and at work, this song is just perfection!! This band is amazing! No question or doubts!
When I first heard this upon its release, I thought it was an 80s song I'd never heard before ... great feel if you like that era, but it's also got a place in the modern era. Agreed that it's one of their best!
I always find this song again every few years when Im searching for another song by some other rock group from this same time period that had the lyrics "wake me when its over" in the lyrics lol. Can never remember their name so I always end up on this one again. Always a great find.
I'm in a weird UA-cam hole. I just went from Pokemon facts to Ryan Reynolds interviews to Ryan Reynolds on Conan in 2003 with musical guests Longwave to here. No complaints.
Ummm weird. I've had my acct. since 2006 and this name since 2009, first time ever seeing someone else with the same name, and of all places on a Longwave video? Not exactly a mainstream band! I even have a comment on this vid from 9 years ago. Talk about being in a weird UA-cam hole... Well congrats on the great taste in music and screen names!
jhony 2 hats just waiting for the new album release. Just found these guys through Blue October / Harvard of the South. Love their music. Pissed I missed this awesome music in the 2000s. I hope to see them live when they tour.
This is NOT the song! This is some stripped down version that has about 30% the power of the original. What is the point of getting your song on here if you have to compromise how it was written??
ridiculously underrated
ri fucking donkulous ly
Always has been.
This comment is underrated. One of the best live bands, recorded bands and overall bands of the last 25 years.
Underrated final boss

Takes me back 17 years ago... when i was 18, playing that song stuck on repeat mode

No one wants Communist friends
It's always cool to hear stories like this. Music unites us all, regardless of country, culture, skin colour and whatever else differentiates us.

A damn shame this band never took off
Got to see these guys in 2002 or 03 in Boston. Small show of about 200 people. God life was so much better before stupid social media.
🎯
2000s time machine right here
Yep
I found this while going through videos I saw on MTV2's Subterranean. I couldn't be happier. This is fantastic.
It feels like winter morning
Seeing these dudes open for The Donnas on ‘03 was a revelatory moment for me. Steve is GOATed.
These guys were so ahead

They're making music again, so you just might get the chance. If the world doesn't implode, of course.

Classic! I feel honored to have The Strangest Thing autographed by all 4 on vinyl. I just hope they're not slumming it somewhere. GREAT band!

Longwave was one of those rare gifts that comes one in a lifetime...
I saw them in concert . They opened for the Strokes . Awesome
This band captured a sound nobody else has. Each album and song defined a place and sound was pefected.

How this doesn't have millions of views is beyond me

such a great, forgotten band. love their albums that dave fridmann worked on. ahhh that sweet longwave sound.

I was just thinking that!
