#1 rule of marching band, the stupider you feel the better it looks. Dude's DCI trained to exaggerate each movement which makes the dance look decent and genuine.
I’m glad you included the sources of who the emotes are based off of. I feel that Epic Games does a terrible job (if any) showing their players where the emotes come from, so I’m glad you’re giving credit where it’s due.
Looking at eric reminds me of those assassin movies where something tragic happens to someone then they go off the grid for 10 years and come back a badass ready to kill whoever stops them
You explained everything assuming the viewer knew nothing about percussion, and the thought of someone who's never done percussion finding this video because they want to learn the emote puts a smile on my face
fact you even tried let’s me know how accepting of all different forms of drumming you are. This man really turned dance moves into sheet music. And you know, I’m no choreographer, but I imagine coming up with moves for a 3 minute dance routine moves is similar. i wonder what the “sheet music” version of dance is. Is there “sheet choreography!?” this man blew my mind
While there are written methods for communicating choreo such as the ballet positions, in practice many dancers are not musically literate and learn their choreo through mimicking an instructor, usually with verbal instructions from beat to beat
I’m actually so blown away by your commitment to every video. It’s strange because I don’t even play drums much, yet watching these videos are so inspiring. The passion is so clearly there, fire video as always!!!
For a drummer who doesn’t usually add movements to playing, I can attest, yes, it’s a different world and it’s more complicated then what I’m used to doing.
Dude it was awesome! As someone who doesn't play an instrument and particularly struggles to see the appeal of marching band drums, your dance is one of the main things that's finally enlightened me to how cool this can be! I honestly really want to buy a snare now. I hope you continue to make awesome drum content like this and continue to inspire generations with your epic drum skills!
most underrecognized enigmatic talent ??? i am simply blown away, utterly amazed, by the level of mental strength, fortitude, and sheer will it must take to pull stuff like this off.
I know those were all different performances because you were wearing different costumes, but the timing and lines of all the performances are so perfect. That was awesome!!!
yknow what dawg? ive been watching this channel damn near 3 or 4 years now and i’m consistently impressed with how refined your newer videos look. no hate towards your older videos, they have a lovely charm, but the quality and consistency of these last months is astounding.
@@flippy5655 it would be incredibly funny if Eric gave him a character arc, over on that amazing drummer channel. Becoming the best drummer on the drum line, only to find out it was a dream or something.
What’s the best way to play sixteenth notes with the sticking “R l l l”? Is it easier to let the left stick bounce off rebound to hit those or should I try to hit each one with normal strokes?
I’m not an expert like EMC but it depends on your skill level rn. If you can do 3 single strokes at tempo comfortably then you should do that, at 160 that is pretty difficult though and you’ll probably need to work at it a little bit if you’re not there yet. However, if you do use a triple stroke instead which is the easier option chops wise, you need to focus a lot on getting each hit evenly spaced. Both take different types of control and skill sets so it’s really up to you, I never really had the best chops so I worked on evenly spacing my diddles at faster tempos. Hope that helps somewhat
Broadly speaking, it depends on tempo. I would at slower tempos, stroke it out as though you were playing 8s. For moderate to fast tempos, allow there to be a natural decay, but also don’t hammer 3 separate notes but don’t drop 3 notes like you would a fast roll. It should still feel like 3 strokes that make up 1 motion. Only for fast tempos would I suggest making the 3 into one motion and “dropping” the notes.
This is fast, but it's not so fast that you can rely on rebound. On the other hand, try to stroke each one and you'll be tense and fatigue quickly. Find a balance. If you're practicing this slowly (like you should be) bouncing the doubles/triples makes them weak and uneven. Start with plenty of wrist, and as you go faster involve more finger. Once you're nearing full speed you'll use some controlled bounce to keep a relaxed flow (tension is the enemy of speed *and* sound quality). I'd probably use wrist/finger on the first two strokes and let the third rebound. Through the whole practice process, keep your sound and rhythm as even as possible. As a teacher my chops are washed up so I'd probably end up using more bounce than I'd like.
The main thing I would say to improve the dancing is to really go all out and make the kicks and steps really explosive. The visual cues that make the dancing and especially the animation look snappy is the way the dancer's body accelerates towards where it needs to stop, but still stops exactly there. Basically pretend you're doing P90X lol. It looks really good as it is though, I'm just talking finer points here.
I just stumbled across your channel, because UA-cam recommended it to me. I was already intrigued by your "Drums are never animated correctly" series but this was also really good. It's funny, how you apologize if anything goes wrong but you executed it perfectly and even made a sick compilation. I was never really into Fortnite so I hesitated to click on the video but it was really worth it haha. I don't even play the drums only saxophone but your videos appeal to practically anyone interested in music. Greetings from Germany 👋
Yo the dancing honestly was like, not bad lmao. This is incredible.

Rule 1: Marching band dancing looks stupid as a solo unless you're a trained dancer, but 80 people doing the same thing in unison looks cool

This is the most attention I've ever given to anything with the word "Fortnite" attached to it. I don't know what to make of that.
7:15 Yes, simple dance moves are more complicated than snare tricks.
For a drummer who doesn’t usually add movements to playing, I can attest, yes, it’s a different world and it’s more complicated then what I’m used to doing.
While playing yes
Yeah, it actually is really hard as a drummer.
Tbh I was able to sight-read the snare music, while the dance took me a week of practice to get clean.
Dancing hard for drummer... drumming hard for dancer. Logic hard for UA-cam commentor.
I love this 🥁🔥🔥🔥💯 thanks for breaking down my emote

The way you compiled the footage of your characters doing the emote made it seem like they were Fortnite skins, which makes it even more awesome.

You can tell that EMC just left the marines because of his shirt being super wrinkled
