- Simple video showing how to fix a Nexus 7 2013 that has been bricked by unlocking the Bootloader and flashing Android 6 0 1 Marshmallow from a factory image. The video is a guide that will be explained in detail within an article on Android Advice & Tutorials.
...Article will be posted here when available...
During 1st time and unsuccessful flashing to newer Android update I bricked the tablet back in 2013 and was devastated. Couldnt find a fix at the time until this week when I decided to finally try and fix it (over 3 years later) and even though this guide is incomplete (not showing where to get stuff from.) IT HELPED !
My Nexus 7 was called "grouper" which I found out is "nasaki" so I had couple of trial and error image downloads.
The tablet now works again ! Im kinda shocked tbh, I expected it to be done for good and never come back to life.
THANK YOU !
My tablet i also called "grouper" can you pls send me the "image download"link and pls expland me how to make it! thanks :)
Download ADB & Fastboot here: devs-lab.com/download-minimal-adb-fastboot-tool.html
And Factory Image is here (wifi only version): developers.google.com/android/images#nakasi
Its only OS 5.1.1 because there isnt any newer version from google for this tablet.
And then just follow the steps as in video (install ADB, copy factory image files into the ADB folder, launch ADB and do what the guy in the video does.)
That should be it.
the step2:>i have copyed the 4files in my MinimalADBloder but after "flash-all.bat" my tablet was restarting and the back message from the Adb Loader is "eror: filed to open the zip file "image-nasaki-lmy47.zip" no such file or directory"
I dont know whats the problem? Can you pls give me your email to contact?
miftari.bajram@gmail.com is mine.
I have been working my bricked Nexus for daaaayyysss now. This video is exactly what happened to mine. Thank you thank you thank you thank you for making this video!!!!!
Thank you very much for this very helpful guide. I really appreciate this as i have not use my nexus in almost 3 years because of broken charging port and it being bricked.
Hi looks like the method shown will help me except you skipped over a few bits that I need more detail on. Sorry to sound thick but how to get to the C:\ screen you were on and where to get the files to load back on. thanks
excatly.HE went from A to M straight without explanation.
He missed the first step though? How do you even get to the screen in the beginning? Mine is in a boot loop and won't even move. How do you get the black page on the computer?
THAAAANK YOOOOU BROOOOO. YES I AAM SHOUTING. U JUST SAVED ME A TABLET..
I have to complement this instructional upload. repairing tablets has been a hobby of mine for some time but never knew much about the programming an development side. so far of the 6 nexus 1 bricked units, all have been successfully restored to stock 4 nexus 2 restored and unrooted and 1 HTC 9 restored. Thanks to this upload
Well my Nexus 7 (soft)bricked before Christmas 2015 and I finally tried to unbrick it. It's still alive, sort of. Spent 3+ hours with various programs, it will never get past unlock (erasing userdata) or writing to the cache. I downloaded adb Bootloader, Android Developer Kit, WugFresh and also messed around with the recovery commands. It's permanently undead. Not going to spend $$ to get it fixed. What a bummer, I enjoyed this tablet. Fortunately I never used it for important photos or documents.
Same for me...
Hi, could you post all the requirements with links to download them and can you please post the article ? I'm just lost with all the things I need.
Thanks a lot
hey how do you open the nexus command window on your pc?
"adb shell" in cmd
@@stuffandmore5875I tried this and it said no devices/emulators found
Absolutely fabulous!! Just wondering why it took so long
Thanks for the tutorial, can you please list all the requirements with links to download them and can you please post the article or just reply with a summarised list of steps to complete this fix, Thanks
sorry about that, I completely forgot to post the article. I will get it published and a link here within the next 8 hours as time permits.
did u post it somewhere in the video? I dont see it in the description
Where are the links?
on brick condition, my computer can't even recognize my nexus.
please help, I'm waiting the article on the description so much..
this is such a waste of time. links were never posted, process works on a working tablet, not a real bricked device.
Thanks for the tutorial. I have been flashing different factory images for hours and the results have all been the same. Dead droid and stopping at the Google logo. But this time I tapped the back and side a few times and the Droid stood up and My Nexus booted!! Don't know why it worked but it did.
hi thanks for the tutorial ,how long should the minimaladb and fastboot take to erase the tablet?
thank god someone had a solution. thanks man
i was stock at the circle screen! BUT IT WORKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey brother can you please tell me which files to copy and where to paste?
Yes, this worked!! My Google Nexus 7 2013 Wifi tablet was stuck on the Google Screen no matter what I did to it. After trying everything else out there this was my last hope before it went in the dumpster. It took alot of finagling (sp?) but I finally got it!!!
If anybody out there wants more instructions, here's what worked for me.
1. Download and install the 1.4.2 version of Minimal ADB and Fastboot. (The latest 1.4.3 version doesn't work.) Here: androidmtk.com/download-minimal-adb-and-fastboot-tool
2. Also, I downloaded the 5.1.1 (LMY47V) Image as suggested by others comments here: developers.google.com/android/images I unzipped the top image folder and another zipped folder within that folder.
3. I pasted all the unzipped files into the Minimal ADB and Fastbook folder. Mine was in c:\program files. I even made copies of the subfolder files and pasted them into the top folder just in case.
4. Then, plug your tablet into the computer, run the minimal adb and fastboot app, then everything should work as shown in this video.
One other problem I had. When I first plugged the tablet into the PC, it didn't register anything and I would see "waiting on device" on the terminal. I slept on it and then thought to try a different USB cable. That did the trick.
Stuck on erasing userdata. Any Ideas?
same
I have nexus seven and it will not Start. Installed new battery and made sure hard wire connection is firm and in place, but no go? I have tried all the volume down and power star up but no go? Any thing that you could suggest would be very appreciated . Thanks PJK Sr.
My Nexus is stuck on the dnx fastboot mode soon as u turn it on it is on that screen an doesn't move
Google pixel xl 128Gb. Used to shut down the machine itself and can not open it .. like Android 8.1 will lose ... do the Recovery Mod can not enter the command no. I do not know.
oh...please help me, before I reset my nexus 7 2013 wifi to factory settings, I forgot to unlock my google account, and now it stuck at the google image and can not pass the google verification...
thanks for the video, but I am now stuck on the unlock bootloader screen. I have selected yes unlock bootloader and hit the power button, but it is just sitting there and nothing is happening on my computer screen. I am using skipsoft android toolkit
How do I get to the black screen you have there
unable to run flash-all.bat. where is this command?
Will this fix a Nexus 7 that is frozen on the Google logo during bootup? I've tried the "smacking" of back panel in many different areas to no avail, because others said that worked for them.
no links on where to get the software and such ... so much for an instructional video ...
when I press power button as you did on 1:27 I waited about 1 hour for the user data to erase but noting happened. I used nexus root toolkit but even on this one it get stuck on YES OR NO option and nothing happens. plz help.
When I choose "yes" , the tablet remains permanently unlock screen showing the bootloader and the process never ends.
Can anybody help me?
Thank you very much

RIP Nexus for me should go get a iPad

Hi Brandon, mine stuck on Google screen after your steps. Everything was successfully installed but when I booted up my device it got stuck again. Can you help me out please? Thanks, N.
Same. Did you get a fix? Please let me know!!
I did get it fix by just opening tree back cover knowing that was too risky, but it got fixed.. I am not an example top follow as it could damage the tablet but I managed to make it in the end

Sudan Rai my tablet doesn't allow me to access the bootloader
LouisL videos did you shut off the N7 and pressed the vol. down button(1st) and the power button together at the same time till the bootloader shows on the screen?

I haven't updated my Nexus 7 since I heard of what the update did to it. to this day I still haven't downloaded it, for over all those years. would it be safe for me download the new update now and not get my tablet bricked?
dont do it mine just bricked today, fuck google seriously.
can you please add the links?
My nexus just shows a android robot with an anamation, not boot loader. Please help
It just shows the robot at 3:38
I can not find drivers for Nexus 7 on the Asus site anywhere. Does anybody have the drivers or a link they can post?
Kevin Stafford search 15 second adb and fast boot. download it and run the program as admin
Tried it several times. Always hangs on "erasing userdata..."
hi did you ever manage to get the tablet working as I'm having the same issue as you had its stuck erasing the user data
No, I never got past the message. Never resolved the problem.
Its hardware problem. Replacing motherboard is the only solution i find till now
Can confirm it's a hardware problem. This video shows you how to fix a soft-bricked device, but not a hard-bricked one.
To diagnose, try this in Fastboot:
fastboot oem gpt-info
fastboot format cache
It should only take a few seconds. If it freezes at any point of the format, you have a hard-bricked Nexus 7.

thax it worked for me
Please show us step to step thanks a lot

Agreed.

missing important info and links !
flashed ok but still hangs on the google logo, what next?
im having the same problem
Someone please tell me which files to copy I'm literally dying here 😭
nice video but didn't work me though
Wait, bricked means the device cannot even be recognized ... so how can you even expect fastboot to be able to work with it ... LOL!!!
sudo $(which fastboot) oem unlock - try this
The best you can do with a nexus 7 is yes destroy this pos, I have many tablets and this tablet is the worst I ever own, after lollipop update this tablet was done trash slow, even a older Samsung tablet that I have is was better than this tablet.
Don't even waste your time, I fix cell phones and this tablet is totally done after the lollipop update.
Google? Where? L I N K
