I'm so glad to see other moms have also spent considerable time researching options ... something so simple can become complicated because there isn't any ready-made affordable changing table with drawers and changing pad. Thanks so much for this video and quick demo 🎉
The number one thing you need for anything you use as a changing table/area is a strap to hold your baby. Not just for safety reasons but to keep them from turning over, wiggling away etc when they get a little older. I promise you will want a strap. I had a changing table for my son and he was strapped in EVERY time. Didn't matter if I wasn't going to look away or not take my hands off him. Always strapped. As he got older and could move and wiggle around the strap prevented him from doing that. Also he was always changed on the changing table. Nowhere else. Not the floor not the couch. Changing table only. That way everything is within reach. No asking someone to go get this or that cuz its in the other room. Also its private. No one wants or needs to see you changing your baby in the middle of the living room while company is there. Fast forward a few years and my nephew is born. Gramma watches them so she changes them. She just wants to change my nephew on the couch or floor or wherever. And what do you know as he gets older he keeps flipping over and trying to crawl away. Gramma can't control him by herself so she has to have my son hold him down while he's kicking and flipping over. What a dam nightmare. I told her to stop doing it like that cuz it's rediculous. But nope she wouldn't listen so she spent a year and a half wrestling with him everytime she changed him. And again in the middle of the living room while we are all sitting there. So he has a poopy diaper and we all get to sit there and look at it and smell it while he kicks and flips over and tries to crawl away with poop on him. And gramma is yelling for someone to grab him and hold him down. And then asking someone to go get the wipes or ointment cuz they are in another room.
