- This boss would be super fun if not for the magic greatsword ruining it. Can't jump the AoE part of it so the only way is to outspace.
Messed up my combo baiting in P2, should have been quicker.
Didn't get to show it here, but you can use the running r2 to dodge the low homing swords. For P1 it's really free, for P2 you want to be fairly close, and easier if you go from left-right rather than straight at her.
This boss appears to be entirely optional as I got to scadu altus with a spiritspring that goes up to fort reprimand, and it doesn't appear to be locking anything else. - Ігри

Took me all night. When I did finally beat her, I could see the sun coming up through my window. It was almost poetic lol.

Tbh, as cool as it is, her sword has the exact same problem with Dancer’s sword. It has 3 way split damage so the enemy’s defense will chew through a good amount of your damage and the AoW is honestly pretty shit, especially compared to Night and Flame

Unfortunately she can dash towards you and then do it and you have absolutely no chance of outspacing it.

@@emitrex idk it’s pretty easy to find exploits/tricks with these bosses. For this boss, she usually ends with the same combo. Master positioning to hit her in the last part of her combo, then most of the work is done. Learn to misdirect her double slashes, pretty much all of the work is done, other than her magic sword attack. Then u just rinse and repeat. It’s all about finding patterns and exploiting their weaknesses. Easy peasy
@@emitrex so, a big thing in elden ring is what the bosses do is Heavily dependant on the player's positioning. the ways you evade some attacks can put you right into place for more punishment. stuff like rolling away from a crucible knight to heal being punished by their charging stab if you're too close, or Margit's fastest undodgable slash attacks can be Never seen in a fight if you dont stand close to his front left after his standard attacks for example. or bosses that almost all heavily punish panic rolling away from them which is almost all of them in elden ring
Despite Rellana beating me harder than the Dancing Lion, I rather prefer this boss.
I had an inkling that you could just outrun her attacks but due to the second phase hitting like a semi-truck on nitro I never tried and just tried cheesing her during the 2nd phase.
Good to see that you can still outrun her attacks on that phase even if it really limits your attack windows depending on the weapon being used.
She's definitely a lot more enjoyable than the Lion. To begin with, you can actually see what she's doing.
@@ChaosDraguss I feel really bad about my lion experience. Walked in with giant hunt great katana after finally beating Rellana with my Godskin Sticher and took it down blind in 1 try. took a bit of damage when it phase transitioned into lightning, but once I recovered I got some hits in, it went frost mode, and I just kinda evaded everything and killed it.
@@ShadowAraun Every now and then, some players get a boss that just clicks with them. I had a similar experience with Maliketh. Went into the fight expecting hell after seeing a lot of posts and comments saying how hard he was, then I walk in and somehow slip between all his attacks like I got possessed by Ongbal.
@@ChaosDragussyour body has a natural rhythm it keeps and some bosses timing will match up with that rythm ive noticed breathing in when you see a boss wind up and exhaling when your expecting it to attack is a good way to match your natural rythm with the bosses timing
@@trevordonato4564 i have that with radagon, Godfrey and malenia, i beat the lion at rl1 and it is just a fight against RNG, there's 5 attacks that are sure death if you're close, frost phase is a nightmare

Gosh you are so good. Makes me imagine how do you even find the perfect openings and hitbox exploits to deal damage cause I'm very bad at it lol. These high skill no roll vids really motivated me to up my game on the previous fromsoft titles. I don't try to attempt them anymore but watching these types of flawless gameplay brings me enough bliss and amazement.

This is awesome, I'd love to see what a katana build looks like on this boss. I recently beat her and loved using my Claymore to low profile every attack of hers. Super awesome and fun boss fight.

taking advantage of its very scuffed hitbox
After she charges her swords she does one of 2 attack strings depending on how close you are standing to her. He stands far enough away to get the long range variant, then gets in to where the hitboxes don't reach. Later she does it again and he has to run and jump to dodge it, which is a bit less consistent
I've done this. Completely by accident though.

I once managed to accidentally find a gap in the hitboxes of her combo and hit her 5 times in a row as her arms kept clipping through me. Pretty funny.
I'm gonna be totally honest: I had to use summons and the NPC collaborator that's just by the door to defeat her. This is amazing. I haven't finished by RL1 run pre-DLC I can't imagine how I will defeat this as a lvl 1 xD
Honestly when I tried she just kept jumping at me with her light speed gap closers... It gota be some spacing issue but ...

Miyazaki tried to fix it by adding infinite combos and bullshit particle spam, but dirty chesters prevail
I abused the Deflecting Tear for this fight with the Backhanded Swords you find early on. Deflecting tear allows you to use that two handed sword and successfully block all damage on most moves, while the ash of war it comes with is an extra mobility dodge that wraps around Rellana who's moves not only usually stay in front of her, but have no hit box if you get close enough to her face. If you miss timed a dodge roll, the skill will let you move out of harms way a lot of the time.
Just wondering why this weapon? With your playstyle isnt better stance damage poking weapon better? Many weapon seems to hit the break point of 20 stance on jump attack and 30 on charged attacks.

does she always do carian grandeur at a specific hp range? i can imagine it would be really tough to keep up with for endurance fights
She was doing it 100% of the time after first stagger every time. Outside of that first stagger (assuming you get it) she seems to be able to do it at any time if you're not close to her. Had an attempt where she did it 3 times f.ex. If she dashes away and then does it you're usually fine. Unfortunately she can dash away then dash back into you and do it and that's 100% death
I'm not doing SL1, no rolling but no dmg, no buffs and the ONLY move that always gets me is this random spin 0:37 she can put in any combo.

@Phetri You can running r2 under the low ones as well, don't believe I got to show that off here. Works with both types up in p2 as well, but that's really precise. Edit: Wait I'm stupid, you definitely meant the sword slashes one
you can actually run up face to face during her initial sword slashes starting 2nd phase??
To get guaranteed sword slashes you have to be further than 6 meters away, otherwise there's a chance of fire move instead, and that's bad news

@@mouseinatutubefore I've seen this video I was almost certain that this boss is impossible to beat perfectly without using deflect hardtear. Though Im still not sure wether her rare chance bullshit unreactable left handed poke and double slash and that stupid attack where she swings her swords upwards one after the other is consistently avoidable. Also one thing I've noticed compared to the way I played against her is that dodgerolling against her may just be the hardest way to fight her, since it moves you in a predictable line that the boss can animation read and frametrap.
@@botondkunos1774 i thought that way aswell when i first fought her but she is not that hard of a boss when you space correctly. i parried through my first no hit on her but it's pretty doable otherways too
@@Asmolgus Honestly, this boss and most dlc bosses are just overdesigned modern FromSoft slop. The best thing From Software can do at this point is stop making Soulsborne games, permanently. If they want to keep these ridiculous movesets while maintaining good quality, then they have only 2 paths available. 1. Update the players basic defensive options to make these new boss attack types better organised and actually manageable. 2. Create a full on combat sandbox where challenge isn't something to aim for at all costs.

Same shit but for longer, though probably use balls for poise damage unless you allow aux or skills. Don't know if she's immune to anything as I didn't use any myself

How did he not take any dmg?
I can only assume that the sword itself doesn’t have a hit box at melee range during that move. The only dangerous part is the light waves themselves.
I haven't seen anyone actually does analysis on the hitbox for that yet, but if you stay extremely close to her while circling around those swings couldn't hit you at all (and looks like you don't even need to circle around according to this video).

I did it no hit without blessing but with parrying, and its nice to see no parrying strat being viable
Also how consistent is dodging the 5 hit magic combo by being close to her? I tried that and it didnt work
You have to be really close to her, works every time but the timing to get close is very tight as you need to be further than 6.4 meters away from her to guarantee it rather than the fire attack. If you roll into the first two projectiles you should probably get it easier

I do. For Lion it genuinely felt like the best choice. For this boss? Definitely not, but it serves the purpose of being able to running r2 under the low homing swords.

You can r2 duck them from a distance with balls/similar weapons but expect her follow up and may have to jump it if doing the duck@@mouseinatutu

I loved the lion and found Rellana incredibly frustrating to fight, not because of the difficulty in itself, but because of how long and punishing her combos were for how little opportunity she left you with afterwards. Admittedly I realized after watching you that I should've rolled way less and strafed more, so maybe I'll grow to appreciate her more as I replay through the DLC, but still, would you care to elaborate on why you like her and dislike the lion?
@@BlaZay I'm coming at this tainted by the no-roll perspective, keep that in mind, but the lightning spam and giant wind AoEs make 2/3 of the phase 2 forms really annoying to fight and that ruins the fight for me.
Really cool kill, I knew while I was fighting her that I was going to feel very dumb once you RL1 no hit her after a week. How do you not get hit on the magic attack at the beggining of P2? Is there no hitbox if you're very close to her or did you just do very precise dodges?
There's just no hitbox on the actual slashes, only the projectile. I wuss out and don't punish it too hard because sometimes my foot gets pushed out into the projectiles of the final two swings, with a weapon where this doesn't happen you could just whack away

@@geld1620from what I've seen, only the projectiles spawned by the blades have a hit box, so as long as you are in between her and the magic waves you shouldn't take any damage. If you're using a larger weapon probably don't attack as it may cause you to space a bit away from her

Can I just ask, how consistently can she be outspaced like this? When I try it, it seems she randomly charges at me when I think that her combo is surely finished, and I am not sure if its random or some pattern I keep missing.
Baiting her melee combos is safe. You don't want to get too far away from her though. If she's charging you like at 1:00 it means you were too far away. She has some different mixups in P2 compared to P1 that can extend her combo chains. That's why f.ex. at the very last attack of the fight I only do an r1 rather than an r2 like in p1 because she can stab and do any of the stab followups after

There is blessing of tree in DLC zone, so you can have +5% damage and +5% all resist per each lvl with that blessing semen.

Depends on your definition I suppose, I use the term as short for buffs that run out: Consumables, spells and skills. Some people consider armour buffs, others talismans as well, though from what I've seen most people use buffs the same way I do, and write no talismans/buffs when wearing nothing but the weapon.

That was so fcking impressive... I've been struggling against this boss for a couple days now, but will give her another go now. About the Carian Greatsword attack she pulls, isn't it better to just roll through it? I found it to be quite easy to dodge by itself.

The hitbox extends below the floor unfortunately. It's a GIANT cylinder, so no jumping and no ducking allowed

Yeah, but you have to be further than 6.4 meters away to guarantee slashes rather than the melee fire move. Probably a lot more forgiving on the timing if you roll into her on the first two

Almost all bosses are possible to no roll/no hit, you'll be surprised by just how many seemingly difficult-to-dodge attacks are actually easily avoidable by just repositioning.
