    Another enjoyable excursion with wonderful surprises. When I was younger I wanted to do metal detecting but never got the opportunity, and now with your excellent video's, I do it vicariously through you! Your video's are always a joy to watch and I appreciate you taking the time to add in the beautiful nature you find around you when you dig.

      It's sad that an entire generation will have stories of what they have actually done in "real life" and all of the proceeding generations will settle for the "virtual experience".

      He might be the first time that place saw a detector. He'll have several good return hunts where I bet he pulls up Spanish silver when he slows the search down and he's got this metal out of the way. I'm jealous and I'm even in a really good detecting colonial state myself. He isn't hitting any modern trash that's a dream come true site

      It could've been a meeting place of patriots hiding during the revolution. Living was tough and buttons were lost the most that many different buttons and buckles speaks more then the coin varieties. Someone traveling could pick up the different coins like the Jersey copper and the counterfeit which is probably worth more then an authentic coin of the same year. The lack of modern trash also makes me think revolutionary war soldiers hiding out and getting prepared. Though I would think musket balls would start to surface

    Wonder if the early colonial farmer was a shoemaker/tailor beforehand.

    • @jeanponce2017
      @jeanponce2017 Рік тому

      If he was a crafts person like a shoe maker or metal smith there should be a lot of iron from his shops building. But then again he may have dug some iron and didn't put it in the wrap up. The iron can tell you a lot about the structure. A lot cabin would have much less iron being they were pinned together with wooden pegs. What I noticed was the lack of horse tack which should be around any meeting place or church but not found at spots where Patriots might have gathered to work out a strategy or wait for forces to come in. Somewhere should be a fire pit which might offer clues. The mystery is part of the thrill of the hunt

    Brad - every time I watch one of your videos [and I never miss one] I am impressed by your finds. You have the right skills in the right place at the right time, plus a whole lot of good karma! I moved from the city to the Western Arizona desert a year ago. I have been detecting the area around the Harquahala Mts. The early Spanish had mines in this area from the late 1600's to the mid-1700's. I hope to find a Spanish artifact some day but, even if I don't, this desert is a fascinating place I never get tired of. After all, the destination is not so important as how we get there!

    I watch all your vids. Makes me a little home sick. Lol.
    I grew up on the border between Vermont and Massachusetts in a Mohawk trail town of North Adams but now farm in central Illinois.
    I dearly miss my mountains. From the top of my grandfathers mountain you could see seven states if you knew your landmarks.
    Here it’s so flat, if your dog ran away you could watch it for miles in the late fall or early spring.
    My grandfathers dairy farm was in Stanford Vt. Just about at the top of the mountain. My uncles always told me gramps would bury silver dollars in lead pipes around the farm because he didn’t trust banks. From what I remember they never found them if the stories are true.
    I’m 69 now and my uncles are long gone. Sumner was the family name there.

    Super hunt, great finds. Is there a land titles office in the vicinity? Or a depository where such records are to be searched. Also plat maps of the area denoting various buildings. Also collections of material that were generated for taxation purposes? It may help your research and , also, answer some of your questions. Are there any archives containing newspapers of those decades? information in them may turn up interesting facts and other information. Thanks for your video. Just joking, but it's your fault I went and have a metal detector. Why, I have some land and was told a story years ago 35 years or so. About two guys that robbed stores around the area. I found a circle of rocks while looking for trees for firewood. At the time didn't think much about it my thinking someone had a dog or animal and dug a hole for it. So seeing you on u-tube I went a looking and didn't find the circle of rocks. So I got a detector and I'll be darned. Was told by my wife you need to get this and that done before winter. So when I get things under control or work done I'm in the woods looking for that circle of rocks. If I find anything I'll write about it. That be nice if I did. So my wife is mad at you and me, haha not really.

    Wow what a great site. When you see such a large variety of coppers it's usually going to turn out to be an epic hunting site. I would bet anything on a return hunt if you slow down to listen close as the large targets thinned out you're going to pull up Spanish silver and even more button probably a few early lead ones also. That soil is so easy going and kind on the targets being there's not years of salt fertilizers used 100 years later. Good for you I hope you great success all year maybe a gold doubloon is warranted from that field with silver cobs. A couple of those buttons look to be from that time period too so you never know? Good for you!
