Every two weeks my Wife and I sit down with our sealer, Mylar bags, oxygen absorbers and whatever staples we bought to put away for bad times. This week we put away 6 pounds of pasta, 4 pounds of beans, 10 pounds of rice, 5 pounds of salt and enough powered milk for 10 quarts. This week was dried goods, two weeks ago it was canned goods, but little by little stowing some away every few weeks, we're getting there. Probably enough food now for two years for the two of us.
That's great! 👍 Keep going. We never know what or when things will get really bad. We do know that the prices keep going up. Most of these things I don’t eat. Gluten intolerant, sugar is not good for you. How about beans, which can also be sprouted for better nutrition, especially if vegetables are in short supply?
Been here maybe 8 months and I’ve learned so much growing banana, peppers, tomatoes lemon balm parsley basil it’s a start I’ve never grown before ty for all you and Misty do🕊️🕊️
my garden is slow to grow since we live in a northern state but I have tomatoes, peppers, herbs, zucchini, winter squash, cukes, beans, jerusalem artichokes, beets and cabbages, radishes, and peas...also potatoes, leeks, onions if they would ever get going....I plan to can tomatoes this year, dehydrate the peppers, ferment the cukes and everything else I am just going to eat and share.
Hey there. I've been listening to your videos for about a year now. You have great tips and inspirational info for everyone out here in this world that seems to be spiraling out of control. Keep them coming as I will keep listening and watching. God bless you always
LOVE peanut butter, plain, no sugar, no salt. I make cookies, pancakes, muffins and sweet breads with that peanut butter. I also make peanut butter biscuits for our dogs, which they love. I also absolutely LOVE boiled peanuts. We buy about 100 pounds of raw peanuts from a farm store in August or September and then make boiled peanuts with those raw peanuts. Can them up for future snacks. We also roast them ourselves (after they are soaked and rinsed several times to get whatever dirt that may be stuck to the shells. Delicious fresh roasted peanuts. This September, I will attempt to make our own creamy peanut butter.
Some really good ideas! We have trouble eating nuts because of our teeth but have used my food processor to grind them down and it seems to work for us. If you can vacuum seal them can they last longer and not go bad? I've never had boiled peanuts. Would they last longer if we boiled them then grind and seal? I've seen peanuts sold at our Thiesens Store but thought it was just bird treats. Thanks for listening. Isn't the Mac family just the greatest?!!!! Have a great day! God Bless You! We're all in this together. 🙂
@@judiwatts1324 I have mylar packed nuts many years ago and have cut open the bags. They were fine. Boiled peanuts are eaten soft. They are raw peanuts, shell included, not roasted. Boil the raw peanuts in their shell in salted water for many hours. They are then stored in their salted water in the jars for a few years. Delicious snack. Walmart sells them in cans, salted and Spicey Hot. You slip the nuts out of the shells and eat the peanuts. Shells go in the compost pile.
@@livenletlive7537 Thank you so much! Do you have a recipe? When you put them in jars do you need to pressure can them as well? I hope I'm understanding correctly. We live in Iowa. I've never eaten boiled peanuts before. Also I love your @livenletlive name! How very original!! 😊 👋
@@judiwatts1324 yes, they are pressure canned. If you don't have a pressure canner, you can also waterbath them for 3 hours on boil. You may want to get a can from Walmart to see if you like them first before you go and buy raw peanuts and go through this process. Raw peanuts are usually sold around late August and september when they are getting dug up from the ground at peanuts farms. They aren't available all year. Recipe...hmm...no one has ever asked for me for a recipe. This is what I do. I soak the whole raw peanuts in a big pot for about 30 minutes, then drain the water, rinse them off, then fill up the pot again. Let them soak for 30 minutes, then drain, rinse them again....I do this until the drained water is clean. Raw peanuts do have a lot of dirt/grit on their shells. Then, put them in large pot. I use a 60 quart pot half filled with the cleaned peanuts and the rest all water. I add 2 cups of salt. Cover it and bring it to a rapid boil. Stir them and keep it on a low simmer for about 4 hours. Check the shells...they should not be crunchy at all. They should be softer. Open one up, the nut inside should be soft, but not mushy. If they are still hard, keep simmering them. Once done and cooled off, fill up quart jars with the peanuts and fill it up with the water from that pot, with an inch head space. Put them in your water bath canner, mine holds 8 quarts, fill up the pot with water and the water should cover each jar at least one inch. Cover it, bring it to a boil and then keep it at a low boil for 3 hours. Once done, remove jars and put them on kitchen towels on the table for them to cool. They will be boiling and extremely hot. Use jar tongs to remove the jars from the pot into the table or counter. If your counter is stone, double the kitchen towel. The boiling hot jar in a stone counter could crack the glass jar. They will stay good for 2 years, Maybe more. Ours never last till 2 years. Enjoy!
upstate NY here. I think the freezing weather is all over. At 68, I have been thinking I haven't done much in the way of gardening until just now. I counted every plant and berry bush I have put in this year. Nearly 100 plants. It didn't seem like that because I have to take about 2 days off to recuperate between plantings. I have two fruit trees left then I'll be done. I have been pressure canning meat every couple of week during the winter. Over the winter I worked on medical, car oil, brake shoes, tape, propane (5 20lb, multiple 1 pound) charcoal, simple grill. My list continues. I am exhausted now. I am sure I can find a few more things to do but the heavy work and number$ crunching are over. I would like to do a "happy dance" but am too tired to get out of my chair!!!!
Thank you for your video. Canaduh here. 10kg, (22lb) Flour costs $16 And that's the store brand or the No Name brand, ... anything else is closer to $20 or more. My "goal" was to get 100kg (220lb) packed away in five gallon Mylar with the Oxygen absorbers and add to to the stuff I already have stored thinking that would be enough. Now I'm having second thoughts. Good thing there's the Grain Elevator where I got about 1500lb of whole Wheat and 500 lb whole Oats and plan on getting more of that for sure. Packed away in huge insulated and clean Fish totes (holds a half ton) and sprinkled with DE for Insect control. I'll probably mix my white half and half with whole wheat to stretch it out. Salt is available from the fisheries for $20 for 20kg of iodized table salt and I found the Kosher course rock salt at the wholesalers for $40 for 20kg. There's no more Cod, Hake, or Ling to salt anymore BUT! we have an invasive species up from the U.S. called Striped Bass and it pressure cans up nice so this summer I plan on seeing how it takes to the Salt. Salt Fish was a staple here for generations. Then I'll try Salting meat if I must. Rice here is sold by the KG and of course they rip us off again by selling us 8kg bags (17.6lb)(why not 10kg?) for $20 a bag, and again, that's the cheap stuff. Basmati is sold in 4.5 kg bags (10lb) and it's over $20 a bag too. Again, depending on the brand. Good Jasmine Rice went on sale here for $15 for 8kg and on the second day of the sale I went to buy two bags only to find the store sold out. I was miffed to say the least and the cashier told me they were leaving the store two carts full at a time, One to push and one to pull. Even the hastily placed "limit of six bags per purchase" didn't slow down the run on rice. They were offering rain checks so I got one for the six bag limit. The last day of the sale I was back at the store for another product when I spied eight bags of this rice back in stock so I made off with six of them. The next week at the same store there was pallets full of the same Rice for $27 so I pulled out the rains check and got six more bags. I really like the Basmati so I've been buying that lately too. And now I found Long Grain White Rice at the wholesalers for $43 for 44 lb and I'm going to buy 200 lb if I can. That's a great price here in Commie Canaduh. Sugar. Because of my home canning I was using a lot of sugar and the 20kg bag used to cost me $12.70 and now cost $30. I have hundreds of pounds of sugar stashed and now "choke" as I decide to get more. It's no cheaper at the wholesalers either. Thank god Peanut Butter is "locked in" at our Big Box store @ $3.77 a kg. ("IF" it's stocked!) I can live with that. Store brand of course. you'd pay $10 for the big brands. We're super water rich here so water is the weakest link in my prepper pantry. I might have 20 gallon stashed not counting the three or four cases of small bottles. 10kg of Green Lentils cost $34 at the wholesalers. Yellow Split Peas are on the missing list again. How can I make my world famous Split Pea soup with no yellow Peas? So I buy the yellow Split Chickpeas, .... they look the same if nothing else. If people are just starting to prep now, they are a day late and a dollar short I say, BUT! better late than never. Good luck.
I started watching your channel just short of a year. God put me where I needed to be that day I found your channel. I started prepping when I started watching. I am 66 years old. I got me a little butane stove and one I can burn wood in also. I started buying a lot of can food that I like and storing it. I am on a very low salt diet due to heart failure and don't eat it. I have no family, no kids, just me. I have bought me a little butane stove and stock up on butane. I also got a very tiny stove that burns wood outside. I love Peanut butter and have 40 oz jars stocked up, 4 of them. A lot of canned food, but only what I like. Canned meat. Shelf stable milk. Naturally water. I have stocked up on plastic sheeting, and tarps, solar weather radio and kerosene lamps, solar lamps. I pray everyday I won't have to use them and stay close to God. May God look after you and your family and keep you all safe.
That is so right, God will never forsake us. And if we can get enough people to pray, He will make our country right again. But I have to accept that He is maybe trying to show some people that He is still God and He is in charge.

I love me some Mac’s thank you for caring so much for us and helping us!! I am grinding wheat berries for my flour because the wheat never goes bad and very easy to store!! Nutritionally it is mind blowing how much better tasting and bread that is high in protein and so good for you!! Amazing
Hello, I’m new to your channel & I already love it. Love how you break it down and visually show pics of what to buy. That’s a doable amount for beginner and add as you go after. Appreciate all your valuable tips & looking forward to watching more videos. 😊
I found your channel about 6-7 months ago trying to learn about Chicken's and Food Preservation 😊 I was taught by my mother (that was born 1925) many, many years ago to stock up and stay prepared because you never know what will happen, so we do and rotate our storage (everything is in date expiration order). Thanks for the reminder to check our Pantry and for ALL you do to help us❣️ GOD Bless you and your Family ❣️🙏❣️
Great advice I've been stock piling now because all of you here on you tube im new to this channel and im glad I've found this channel I live in Canada 🇨🇦 I've stocked up a big bag of flour so far lots of beans rice sugar salt can goods hygiene supplies and pet food so far pasta and peanut butter
Add leavening for the wheat flour: Baking powder, baking soda, yeast or learn how to make and maintain a sourdough starter. Great pantry starter list. I was surprised there were not some beans or lentils on the list.
Add cream of tarter to your list!! IT and baking soda can be stored longer than baking powder. COMBINE - 1/2 tsp baking soda and 1/2 tsp cream of tarter =1 tsp POWDER. You can add arrowroot to a larger batch for MONTHLY storage. (Sorry, but I can't remember the measurements though) you could GOOGLE IT😁
Thank you and Misty for you channels. It seems like l am the only one in my family who is trying to prepare for what is to come. I do trust in the Lord and He is in control of all that comes our way.

I've been watching your videos for around a year now and am subscribed to you channel never wanting to miss one. Again, thanks for what you do and GOD BLESS you and your family.
Good video. I had to spread it out. My grocery budget was $10 a week since 2018. #1 Flour #2 Salt #3 Rice #4 cane sugar #5 peanut butter #6 water Now some people have allergies so they would have to substitute in something else. Tortillas are flour, salt, water and a fat of some type. So I would switch out peanut butter for some type of fat so I could make tortillas.

Thanks for your help in making me prepared for whatever comes my way♥️
This hit me today thinking, for the last 4 years, I've been buying salt, ionized, sea salt and coarse sea salt. I fill litre bottles!!! I use to kill fire ants!! But I'd wager to say I have close to 100#.lol. I've been buying at Winco, which has a good selection of bulk foods . I was paying as little as 21 cents a pound, back to 28 cents today. Sea salts are at 58 cents now. I have those, I believe I read you can use sea salt in place of pickling salt, kosher can be used also!! I have my basics!! I have enough put up to help my children and grandchildren. I'm trying to get everyone I know to stockpile at least the bare staples. Thanks. If you but 5 extra each trip, it really adds up, does it ever!!! God bless in you ministry!! I think this may be my 2bd plus year watching. Tine passes quickly at my age!!

I think the highest prices are on fats/lard/ oils. I was buying cans of lard to stock when it was half what it is now. Save that bacon grease! I do stick water but I also have 3 water filtration methods. Stay vigilant & watch those prices everywhere
At first I was thinking in "bulk" all of the time. I have had to change that. I am by myself and have physical restrictions with my back and legs. Hauling a 50 pound bag of anything is not possible. Also, I cannot eat a large jar of peanut butter or a quart of beans by myself. I got tired of all the waste so now I buy multiple smaller bags, pressure can using more pints than quarts. I still have enough if for some reason my sons need to come home with their wives and 4 children. I have had to rest at least 2 days between planting vegetables or berry bushes but my hope I will be able to can more from my own garden this year. WOW, I got long winded. Sorry.
That is quite alright! I am trying to learn gardening. My 2nd year and I am just learning as I go. I have been dealing with aphids, but other than that it is going well. I have no Idea how to can though. I have a son, 2 grand daughters, a step daughter and a momma that I will need to help when things go bad. We will make it. Hang in there. : )
@@gailoreilly1516 you can still buy the big book bags as long as they load them in the car for you. You can then take some out a little at a time and carry it in.

Suttons Daze on you tube is just one of many good teaching channels. I was afraid the canner would blow up or I would poison my self with botulism. Neither happens as long as you follow the directions. After 4 or 5 canning sessions, my stress went way down. Now, I have no stress at all. You remind me so much of my old best friend Sean. The pandemic and their choices separated us. I appreciate this channel and thank you very much for all you do to wake people up.
Maybe you could call up Sean and try to mend things. Good luck.
@@americafirst9144 nope. We didn’t take the vaccine. We aren’t worthy.
Most of these things I don’t eat. Gluten intolerant, sugar is not good for you. How about beans, which can also be sprouted for better nutrition, especially if vegetables are in short supply?
@@susanwhitington7966 Sprouts are great for you, but don't have much protein. Nuts and seeds are great if you don't eat much meat.
You are rocking the peanuts.
The pain is real, the rewards are priceless! 😅😊
@@tamaraewald3791 You certainly got that right!
72 here, you’re doing great, and boy, can I relate to your story! We will dance on the streets that are golden!!!
Good luck.
Try sliced apples dipped in peanut butter for an awesome semi-sweet & salty healthy snack!
Popcorn is number one snack in Merica.
Your comments really blessed me! I especially loved the part about being close to God! He will not forsake us!
That is so right, God will never forsake us. And if we can get enough people to pray, He will make our country right again. But I have to accept that He is maybe trying to show some people that He is still God and He is in charge.
Smart thinking thank you for your concern!!!
Shalom, Hi Happy Blessed Sunday…

God Place You On My Profile & Am Fairly Still New…
I Must Say Am Learning A Lot From You & Your Family GOD BLESS YOU!
Even if you have a problem with gluten yourself, still stock up on some regular flour--it’s good for bartering!!
Many people swear they have a gluten allergy when in fact they have a glyphosate allergy. It has been proven but doesn’t drive the specialty food craze
You need beans (protein) to pair with the rice.
Thank you taking your precious time from your family to help teach other n reminding others of things they may have forgotten……God bless ❤🙏🙏🙏

I love me some Mac’s thank you for caring so much for us and helping us!! I am grinding wheat berries for my flour because the wheat never goes bad and very easy to store!! Nutritionally it is mind blowing how much better tasting and bread that is high in protein and so good for you!! Amazing
How do you grind your wheat berries?
I heard it's healthier if you sprout your grains first. Not exactly sure of the process, but I do know it helps with the carb/sugar spikes.
Smart list. One could shop around for comparison, but what a great start.
Hello, I’m new to your channel & I already love it. Love how you break it down and visually show pics of what to buy. That’s a doable amount for beginner and add as you go after. Appreciate all your valuable tips & looking forward to watching more videos. 😊
I've been watching for about a year now. Been prepping for 40 years.
Add baking powder for pancakes or biscuits. It's dirt cheap. Lasts a long time.
I found your channel about 6-7 months ago trying to learn about Chicken's and Food Preservation 😊
I was taught by my mother (that was born 1925) many, many years ago to stock up and stay prepared because you never know what will happen, so we do and rotate our storage (everything is in date expiration order).
Thanks for the reminder to check our Pantry and for ALL you do to help us❣️

Don't worry when everything crashes they will be at your house. ❤️🙏
Great advice I've been stock piling now because all of you here on you tube im new to this channel and im glad I've found this channel I live in Canada 🇨🇦
I've stocked up a big bag of flour so far lots of beans rice sugar salt can goods hygiene supplies and pet food so far pasta and peanut butter
(Sorry, but I can't remember the measurements though) you could GOOGLE IT😁
@@gailwendtland5970 that is a great idea I had read it before but could not remember the formula. The baking powder goes stale quickly.
@@gailwendtland5970 Yep, Cream of Tarter (tartaric acid) and Baking Soda will store for decades if kept dry, etc.

Thank you, Mr. MAC, I love your very informative videos. I make a list every time you give one and I'm getting our pantry in order. I've been watching your videos for around a year now and am subscribed to you channel never wanting to miss one. Again, thanks for what you do and GOD BLESS you and your family.
Good video. I had to spread it out. My grocery budget was $10 a week since 2018.
#1 Flour
#2 Salt
#3 Rice
#4 cane sugar
#5 peanut butter
#6 water
Now some people have allergies so they would have to substitute in something else.
Tortillas are flour, salt, water and a fat of some type. So I would switch out peanut butter for some type of fat so I could make tortillas.
Hi Colby. Great list. I'm there but who can't use more.!! Love and God bless ❤
I've been here for a couple months...love the channel
I would opt for beans in place of the peanut butter.
A spoon of peanut butter can make a bad day better ❤️
Oatmeal, I need to buy lots, your family is lucky to have you!
Just wanted to thank you for being here for everyone. I have been prepping for 6 months now. I really enjoy your video's. They have helped me so much.
I have picked up things that has crossed my mind incase stores are closed for whatever reason.
1. Eye glass repair kits
2. Kids lice kits (I have grandkids so I want to be prepared)
3. Eye drops
4. Chap sticks, petroleum jelly, Vicks vapor rub
5. Ben gay
6. Urinary track infections AZO
7. Tampons for daughter n laws
8. Extra vitamins
You are right on. A very sensible man.
I started a prepper pantry a few back. Watching your channel and a few others like this have helped me immensely! When Snowmagadden hit Texas two years ago, I was able to provide a warm home and food for my daughter and son-in-law (and their dog and cat!) for a few days!
I am relative new but have been watching your talks I love it. I have done a lot after listening your suggestions. Love your way of thinking and your love for Christ. Bless you and your family!

You'd be better off bying Costco's brand of long grain white rice for 25 lbs for like $12.50
But basmati taste 5 times better

Absolutely, thank you Mac’s, you nailed it!
I think the highest prices are on fats/lard/ oils. I was buying cans of lard to stock when it was half what it is now. Save that bacon grease! I do stick water but I also have 3 water filtration methods. Stay vigilant & watch those prices everywhere
I have most of these things but I buy smaller pkgs when they are on sale and they eventually add up to alot of product. It's easier for me this way.
May God bless you richly!
@@gailoreilly1516 you can still buy the big book bags as long as they load them in the car for you. You can then take some out a little at a time and carry it in.
@@marciadabbs5634 Oh my gosh Marcia! Pressure canning gives you full meals in a jar, saves good meat on sale, and you control what goes in it. No preservatives needed. I wish I could show you how, it's a great source of pride and a good way to have food stored. I learned from reading the book that came with the canner. Suttons Daze on you tube is just one of many good teaching channels. I was afraid the canner would blow up or I would poison my self with botulism. Neither happens as long as you follow the directions. After 4 or 5 canning sessions, my stress went way down. Now, I have no stress at all. Good luck to you, we will make it, bumps in the road and all.
Excellent presentation thanks for sharing your advice 🙏🙏
