Desperate times need desperate measures. Go and recruit someone from the free market ideally someone who can cover dm and centre half. Farke will now need to change system and go more aggressive and attacking. He will need to utilise Charlie Crew probably in some home games. Charlie needed some first team football this season
Totally agree. Amartey is one such player by all accounts.
To add to what you said, I think the ideal fit would be someone experienced and old enough that they wouldn't mind being a back up / bench option, but still good enough to cope in the champo.
I've not actually watched the vid yet so don't know who Conor has suggested, but some of the more realistic names I have looked up are Jack Cork,. James Tomkins, Paul Dummett. Then there are others like Michut, Coquelin who might be unrealistic and then of course you have Matip and Ramos who are nigh on impossible.
If we no more injuries we will be ok, but we could easily have for instance Struijk injured and rodon suspended (he is 2 yellows away from that).
The likes of Debayo and Crew are good players but I don't think Farke would want them playing 90 mins for several games in a row, which they might well have to.
We can of course move the likes or Aaronson and especially Schmidt around, but the more we do that, the more it will disrupt our style and the less effective we will be. Rather get in someone like say Amartey who can cover 2 positions and will hopefully prefer picking up a wage to not having a job

Brendan can be an excellent 8, and Max will be an option as a 6 in november. But if Gruev is out for the season it could be smart to bring in a free agent. Then buy a new CM in january. And a SB as well.

When did Rothwell last play every game for a few months? We definitely need to bring at least one more midfielder in and I would agree it needs to be a more defensive minded player.

Absolutely right. If squad members are on the bench, I assume they are ready to take their place in the team in an emergency 🤷🏻♂️
Well Farke has said they are not bringing anybody else in, Crew and co will fill in where necessary if called upon.
They are there as cover occasionally and to gradually integrate into the team until they gain experience. Who do we put on the bench if they were ready anyway? Even less experienced kids.
They should have been given opportunities much sooner. Now they will be thrown into the deep end, and expected to hit the ground running

Interesting points Conor. I believe Rothwell and Tanaka can develop a good midfield partnership. My two fears are whether their defensive capabilities are good enough and where we go if somebody else picks up an injury? I think a 4:3:3 with Aaronsen dropping out may be the answer. Farke has already said he isn’t keen on recruiting free agents outside the transfer window because by the time they are up to fitness and speed with our style of play, the injured players have probably recovered.
I would bring a free in it’s a no brainer even if he isn’t used somebody is better then nobody it will take the pressure of Charlie crew and maybe give the option to ease him into the side knowing there is a back up in games where we are 2 or 3 goals up with 20 mins to play
we need to change tactics and be more attacking early on , we need to kill games quickly, the midfielders do the most running and need rest when playing twice a week , get 2/3 up , and get them off to rest.
Conor, unfortunately the YEP has said Gruev is likely out for months, not weeks. Not sure we can wait until January to bring in cover - especially with Ampadu unlikely to be back in action until 2025.

@@coner4675 He’s been starting in the last 5 or 6 games and Rooney has been speaking highly of him. Not sure if that’s a good thing though 🥴😊. It would be good to have him on our bench as he’s got EFL experience, but by January I’m hoping the current situation will have eased a bit

If Tanaka gets injured especially we are fooked! He’s back from int’l duty the day before we play Sheff Utd which is far from ideal.

The way I see it is he’s going to have to play a more attacking style, he’s going to have to use attack as defence, question is will he, I doubt it, he’ll try make the attacking midfield a defensive midfield, all we can do is pray it works. MOT
whilst it seems that both Ampadu's and Gruev's injuries were freak accidents, it there any possibility that their occurrence was exacerbated by the fact that both players have been overused.. on the field for all (or most) of the minutes played including both on international duties. Would they have been less chance had Farke rotated and used Tanaka, Rothwell and Crew more - 60 min subs etc ...? This thing that Farke has of playing the same 11 for 80 minutes plus every game isnt good for the players or the team
Farke had to address this issue. We can’t go the rest of the season short in midfield. We are an injury away from a crisis. Rothwell can’t play all games at his age and lack of game time. Also we need cover. We can’t be relying on just a youngster. This could curtail our season and there’s the excuse already

I think we need an option. There must be a free agent we could get up to speed to do a job. Can't wait until January, to many games between now and then

I think Rothwell and tanaka will be rubbing there hands and the opportunity to get in and stay in our midfield I think it's like or like although there different midfielders from amadu and gruev but I can see us scoring more and being more creative
Our defensive midfielders are out, to control the tempo of the game will be difficult, in that sense i would play 4 4 2 and go to 4 5 1 to hang onto the lead
Tonight will be tough. Sunderland are on good form, and we lose both our midfielders, lose one not too bad, but two !!! A lot to ask lads that have not had much game time or playing together. However, if they are good enough, they will prove it.
I do believe we should be giving Charlie crew some game time nevertheless bringing in a loan signing would make sense

Hola Conor, I tore my Meniscus a couple of years ago and although I am not a Doctor I would be very surprised if we see IG again this season??? ☹️🤬 Just look at what happened to Paul Pogba, when he did come back he was nowhere near it???

@@blazedray9903 Hola, all I can say is that I’m 62yo and 2 years ago I was running 5 miles in 35 mins (ex-Army 31 years service) now I struggle to run 3 miles in 25 mins??? My knee doesn’t give me pain but it just feels uncomfortable; I would definitely say he won’t be the same player again imo and he will have an operation from a top surgeon and rehabilitation from a top physiotherapist plus psychologically will he ever trust the knee again??? He wasn’t quick before the injury but is probably going to make him a yard or two slower I think 🤔

TBH farke needs to be having a word in the players ears who are about to go on international duty. Desperate times I feel cos we can’t afford anymore injuries.

It's not a good thing seeing players getting injured, especially for us. We should have brought in a few more players, but like always, Leeds do things the hard way.
As for this match, i thought we would be getting the points, but as keep on saying if we were to hit the target, we would be.
Amarthey would be perfect can play CB and CDM.
A free agent would still need several weeks to get match fit and up to speed about the way we play
Exactly! But maybe if we bring in an extra body who can convert DM and CB then it might ease the pressure on the young lads of Debayo and Crew. I think they’re both capable and good players, but both very young and are they ready for a championship title charge?
Personally I think the board will be stubborn and wait for January (a mistake) because bringing in free agents (even to cover injuries) shows that they failed to prepare for this happening in August
PLay next 3 to 4 games and see what the results are. If we go L-L-L-L - then we better get some players in. Or Division 1 coming.

We should have planned for injuries. Like last season we just gamble with a small squad. Owners at fault with lack of investment.

I would get a couple of free agents but offer them a 2 week trial before agreeing to sign them . Then Farke can look at them and decide if it’s worth spending the money on giving 1 or both a contract, like he did with Byram last summer 🤍💙💛😎👍
