- What would your world look like if you had the ability to shape and create what that world would look like. Winning my 7th World title taught me a lot about myself, getting out of my own way and believing in myself.
Layne Beachley is widely regarded as the most successful female surfer in history. The only surfer, male or female, to claim six consecutive world titles (1998-2003), Layne then went onto win a 7th world title in 2006 before retiring from the ASP World Tour in 2008. Not only is Layne a world champion surfer she is an inspirational speaker and a champion for the education of girls.

She used to smile at me whenever I'd be going for a swim at Freshwater and she'd come out after a surf. I'm not used to smiles from strangers let alone pro surfers. Truly one of the kindest souls...

I love the way she spoke, so powerful. I'm in the middle of confronting my limiting beliefs and it's an internal struggle but one well worth it to achieve my goals and dreams. Love this video, very motivating!

All the best on your journey indiezee. I constantly fight against confronting my limiting beliefs ( I don't even know why that is) but I know I must start if I want to see positive changes and growth in my life.

I, thinking likely 1907 isn't your birth yr but I know a 104 yr old hilda and if I doing the math right her birth yr would be or near 1907ll
Ah 117 but kinda close and wonder if she mskes it there and she used to eat alot of fried and fast food in her 80s and 90s when I knew her
If she makes to 117 I am trying to remember if guineas has an older person I think and she had 22 siblings even back then anyway I think the oldest is 122 or 120sowmthing

Truly an inspiration is Layne Beachley as I use to surf at Manly as a teenager too in the early 1980's. I have been following her surfing and surfing World titles on the ASP/ WSL for the past few decades.

I went for a run up and down Freshy beach one day and when leaving I walked past her and she was heading in and just says "How are ya mate". Layne is not above anyone and so down to earth! What a legend.
This may be one of the best Ted Talks I have ever seen. Straight forward, powerful message, spoken right from the heart! As a counselor that works with children and teens, I will share this video with excitement for those who need the strength you embody.
This is by far the best motivational video I have ever watched. Beachley needs to do more of these.

I concur with exactly what you are saying and I have been lacking confidence to bring it forward. Thank you for everything. I like to say; Forget About Me I Love You.=F.A.M.I.L.Y. We breathe the same air, we drink the same water, we eat the same food, we share the same color blood and most important for each person, is we all poop the same. there are no differences between all peoples on earth. This is only my opinion but my valuing belief.Truth, Trust, honesty. remain priority.

Thank you Layne! This talk of your has help answer so many questions of mine. One of the hardest things for me and others I believe, is how to change self-limiting beliefs. You have proven how to do it. Also It's good to hear about how you were unhappy, even though you met your goal. I was suspicious of that myself because I saw the warning signs from others, that reaching your dreams does not mean you will be happy. At the end of the day, or life, that's what I want. To be happy, and what you talked about makes so much sense. It's all about how you go about the journey. It's about your core, underlying beliefs. Muuuuuuuuuch love!

That's because in this reality(tedtalks) we are mostly people that are aware of, or becoming aware of, our true potential, so there aren't too many doubters surfing the Ted waves, as there's Nothing of interest,,,yet. Everyone wakes up at there own time.
Speak for yourself. I love seeing my friends succeed and be happy. I want everyone to succeed and be happy - if everyone were happy, what a wonderful world that would be.
Lol, this is hilarious. Have you even listened to the talk? By talking so badly about other people as you do in this comment you enforce this idea/expectation you have onto your reality, actually making it true for you. As Layne explained, you see what you want to see, believing your beliefs into existence. Trust others and you will attract the right kind of people to prove your comment wrong ;).

I felt it's my journey she is talking about... I'm preparing for something and at middle of my journey I start to talk negative about me, my journey and end up doing nothing ... thanks for help now I know what to do.

This lady made me realise that it was actually my fear of rejection, that inspired me to set up a group for lonely people, it was the same fear that inspired me to set up a community scheme which gives out over 600 gifts each year to lonely people in the community. it’s this same fear that drove me to set up a now, very successful internet business which puts a smile on thousands of faces. Now, 3 years on, I no longer have time for that fear of rejection because I am too engrossed in everything I do. I only have time for people who help me shine, but more importantly, I know I’m being that ‘candle’ for many many people ..... anonymously.
