A Night Alone Camping on a Tiny Island
Вставка
- Опубліковано 27 вер 2022
- I made my way up, battling my fear of heights a little at times, and spent the most beautiful night on this tiny island, surrounded by the blue-green water. I watched the sunset-coloured clouds and the milky way dance above my head, I got cold, paddled in a waterfall pool and talked with a mountain goat. I loved this lil trip so much 💚
Thank you for sharing it with me 😊 Much love, Claire 🌿🐻

Drone shots, underwater shots, shots from a static camera at a distance… the amount of running backward and forward getting all that amazing footage is bonkers. Awesome work
I went there as a teenager in the 70s in a really hot summer. We sat on that island, and I played a guitar (yep, I carried that old guitar all over Snowdonia until it broke), and we sat there all night and climbed down in the dawn. Snowdon was really busy that year, but for some reason, we didn't see anyone when we were up at the lake. We had a lot of special times in those mountains that year. A group of teenagers from London who had just done their O-Levels and felt the world was theirs. It's wonderful to see that the spirit still exists. A beautiful little film.
The Lady of the lake. You have convinced me to restructure my life and dedicate it to exploring the natural world.
Thank you for taking us to places most of us will never see. Your videos are always a joy to watch. So peaceful.
Thank you, means a lot ☺️🌿🐻
One of the things I like that you do well, also Bushman and Blue, is to describe and discuss the risks you face on your adventures and the decision making process you go through to mitigate risk or modify your plans when the risk is too great. It helps those less experienced to understand the decision making steps when doing activities such as this. You portraying your fears and limitations is so valuable to let others know it’s ok to change plans before a dangerous situation is created.
Agreed, decision making and risk assessment is such a crucial part of moutain and hill walking, so its good to see it in a video
I was just coming to make a similar comment… I think it’s great to hear the whole story and that you still have a great time on your adventures even though you’ve had to adjust plans for reasons of safety or comfort :)
I camped in the same spot some 30 years ago, but wasnt quite as lucky with the weather. By nightfall, the wind had picked up to gale force and I spent the night clinging onto the main pole to stop the tent blowing away. To cap it all, I developed a fever and was all too happy to retreat the next morning to spend the day shivering and sweating in the local youth hostel. Even so, I still look back on that trip with gratitude
That drone rise moment to reveal the lake is superb !
For some reason I feel emotional when I watch your videos. Thank you for taking the time to share with us.
Not many people seem to have commented on this aspect so I just had my tuppence - absolutely amazing production qualities. Really a very talented video maker - thank you so much
Damn right!
What a wonderful planet we live on, if only we could learn to respect it.
I love that the island has one perfect little tree 🏝
It's also sad in a way, Scotland used to be 95% forest. What we see today is far from natural.
And even that tree will be ruined one day
@@Francophone974yes thats the saddest part.
Same with baobab trees. They look great in the open fields, but sad reality is that its the only tree that doesnt burn or can be used to build. Thats why they survived
"Hi lake dude", absolutely love the random hello's to insects, skulls and whatever else. Your videos are so relaxing, wish I had the guts to just put on a backpack, take the tent and go somewhere
Claire I don't think you really know how much of an inspiration you are, not to mention what an incredibly beautiful human being. This was magical, thank you!
Ahh thank you so much, I'm so glad you enjoyed it! It sure felt special :) hope you have a nice eve 💚🌿🐻
@@WildBeare I wish I could make it to such a place.
Have a lovely evening.
Couldn't agree more! Claire has really inspired me to start wild camping myself, it's been particularly great to see another women out doing it. I look forward to all her videos.
A inspiration of what not to do , foolish women.
Who is the first one she will call if she gets into trouble and needs help, a MAN.
@@leroy7513 Hi Le Roy, great to hear your opinion. But in the interest of free speech, I must say, I hate this narrative I receive all the time about being a weak and vulnerable female in in the outdoors. Of all the things everyone does on a daily basis (including getting into a car), wild camping is very low down the list in terms of danger. And of course there is risk - as there is in anything :) You just take precauations to lower it, and apart from that steep ledge - which Claire then avoided - this was very low risk. Would you have called enjoying a night outdoors foolish if she were a man? I think the only thing foolish here is for her to not live a life doing the things that make her healthy and happy, like getting outdoors. I think we all deserve that, regardless of gender, and I wish the same to you too :)
I have been sitting here while fishing. Found myself scrolling through U Tube videos. Seeing mostly doom and gloom on U Tube. Until one of your videos pops up. Find myself unable to not click on your videos. Really nice to see the Gorgeous Scenery. The Peace and Quiet and hopefully the Peace we can have between all Countries. Keep up the good work. Most of all be SAFE!
This one deserves to hit the million views.
On an island, on a lake, high on a mountain, just you and the goats and sheep! Wow, that is incredible! I'm glad the weather held for your adventure this trip.
When I think about all the doubling back to move cameras and tripods, and shooting the same precarious segments from different perspectives, I applaud your efforts. What is already a dangerous feat, you go back and do all over again for the aerial shot, or the low-to-the ground perspective shot!
Your trips are awe inspiring, Claire. Thanks for taking us along!
Hi Randy! Ahh thanks, it was an amazing lil trip 😍
Yep it's a lott of work to film these but I love to do it, a nice lil project. Its really great that you appreciate the technicalities of shooting it all, thank you :D and thanks for coming along on the journey
Hope you're having a great weekend! :) Claire 🌿🐻
After grinding through another hot, wet, mosquito infested day trying to salvage the remains of my home / life which was destroyed by Hurricane Ian, I find my sanity restored by watching your videos. Your calm, positive energy is my treat after all the day's backbreaking/ heartbreaking work is finally over. Keep it up and stay safe. Thanks.
Hugs
The island is so surreal..it also has its own tree..how magical.
Been gradually working my way through all your videos. Just magical. You are so talented, so positive, just love your adventurous spirit. Amazing locations and never a complaint if the rain comes in. You just embrace everything in your path. Joyful.
If more people went outside and adventured like this, maybe the world could be a better place. Respect and spend time in nature and let it heal you! 😊😊
Thank you for taking us to these amazing places with you .❤
Never could have imagined so much solitude while wild camping in the UK. Indeed, it’s amazing!
Yehh I love to plan routes off the main paths 😍 There were people coming up the next morning though, as I was on my way down, so it seems I had a stroke of luck having it to myself for the night :) Thanks for watching, have a lovely eve 🌿🐻
Thank you so much Clair for taking us along on this Magical trip! Taking so much trouble to show us the views and scenery! You are indeed an inspiration! 🏕️🏔️☘️👍😎
Aw thank you, thanks for coming along with me :D 🌿💚
Claire‼️ You are such a great storyteller and not only in word. Your videography and drone skills make this like a short movie!
Here I sit in FL, watching hurricane Ian do its thing and your post was just what the Dr ordered. Thanks!
Hey Jimmy! Ahh thanks, so kind of you to say :D Ooo gosh, I hope you're keeping safe over there! 💚🌿🐻
That was possibly your best video to date!
Beautiful location, beautifully filmed and edited, by one of my favourite young ladies on UA-cam.
I must admit I do harbour a little ‘fatherly’ concern for your safety at times, as that terrain can be unforgiving, but you seem to take it all in your stride.
I love solitude and, like you, am content with my own company, so it brings me joy to see you enjoying it. Thank you for sharing adventures like this with us mere mortals. x
Hi Perry! Aw thank you, I loved this lil trip, although I wasn't sure I'd make it up there at one point.. glad I did :)
It's sweet that you worry about me, I do try to be as cautious as I can although I understand that this sort of thing does come with an unavoidable element of risk.. I always have my personal locator beacon but hopefully I'll never need to use it.
Thanks for watching my lil vid, hope you have a lovely weekend :) 💚🌿🐻
What a stunning video. I especially like the goat at the end there, just strolling by. Thanks!
.......I've watched a few of your videos now and am hugely impressed by your spirit of adventure.
Also you've chosen music that beautifully enhances the landscape and excellent footage. Bravo😎☯️
Yet another brilliant adventure, Claire! That was a truly spectacular spot to camp, and you really brought us along for the journey with your fantastic camera and editing work, well done! Such a beautiful part of the world you have to explore, I can't get there to share it, but this is the next best thing, thanks for taking us with you!!
Thank you Dave, loved this lil trip 😍 although I wasn't sure I was gonna make it up there at one point haha. I love North Wales so much, can't imagine ever getting bored of it. I've summited Snowdon 3 times via various routes, but there's still so much to explore on this one mountain. Hope you have a lovely eve :) Claire 🐻
Claire your courage is astonishing. You overcome by perseverance, and good thinking. What an inspiration you are. Thank you for having adventures for those who can't !
Aw thank you so much Dan, means a lot, I'm so glad you could come along with me on this :) Hope you're having a lovely eve 🌿Claire 🐻
Having survived a stressful day of OFSTED inspections, this was the perfect antidote this evening. What an amazing location, and much respect to whoever it was who placed those stepping stones out to the island.
Ahh bless you, that does sound stressful! Yep they did a great job making a lil bridge across :D thanks for watching and hope today is better 🌿 Claire 🐻
OFSTED….unnecessary stress!
That is one of the prettiest settings I've ever seen. I would not want to leave.
I sat and smiled throughout this video so happy for you(apart from lack of sleeping) as that just looked so absolutely beautiful and idyllic
What an amazing spot you found for pitching the tent! Thank you so much for sharing this trip with us, Claire!
I love your videos, I wish they were a little longer. What a fabulous spot you picked this time, such a perfect little island. Looking forward to next time.❤
Thank you Katie 💚 yes a few people have said that, I don't intend for them to come out to any particular length, they just end up how they end up.. I will try to get a multi-night trip in during autumn, they are always a bit longer :) Hope you have a lovely eve ☺️🌿🐻
What a beautiful Place to Camp!!! Reminds me of the many lakes I've climbed to in the Sierra's... Just beautifuls.....
Thanks Claire for sharing your latest adventure, camping in the middle of a small tarn. You’re right about people feeling more alive when they are a little outside their comfort zone. Nice one. 😊
Thanks so much for coming along, yes it's very true :) 🌿💚
Superb, Claire! Such a unique camping spot on the little island. You even got a little tree all to yourself! Good advice on finding another route if you are not comfortable with heights. Thanks for taking us all along on another magical trip!
Living your best life Claire, good for you 🏕️🌳🏔️⛰️🌲🗻
What a fantastic, stunning and amazing place to camp! Amazing scenery and what a massive climb... I bet you were glad to chill after all that effort! 🙂
Absolutely epic video and adventure Claire! The scenery was utterly breathtaking! Your cinematography stellar! And the message that you conveyed here was truly inspiring! This one is definitely getting added to the ol' favorites list for sure. Thank you for sharing this :)
I hope that you have an awesome weekend my friend! Stay wild & much love.... -John
Hello John! 👋 Ahh thanks so much, so glad you enjoyed it :D I've been to Snowdon so many times now and it amazes me that there's still so much to discover on one mountain! Hope you're having a lovely weekend ☺️🌿 Claire 🐻
@@WildBeare Hi Claire! 🙂 You're very welcome my friend :D I can only imagine how incredible Snowdon is just simply based on the adventures that you share... it definitely looks amazing without a doubt! May many more adventures and discoveries await you there! I hope the rest of your week is amazing as well 🙂 -John
As a photographer I wish I was there, it looks heavenly! You're living the dream.
So true what you say, Claire. I cycle a lot, and when I go on a long ride - 100 miles or more - I can always find many reasons NOT to do it. I don't feel 100%, the weather isn't perfect, the bike might malfunction, I'm getting too old, and so on. The thing is to dismiss those reasons and DO IT ANYWAY! You live your life by doing, rather than not doing, and that's an inspiration to us all.
And of course there would be just one tree!!! 🌴🌴🌴. And that made me smile a lot!!!😀😃😄.
I recently discovered this channel, loving it! I am an outdoors enthusiast myself, currently stuck at home recovering from surgery. Getting a big lift from your content! Thanks from Canada
You,re videos just get better and better Claire . Well done for facing your fear of heights . Worth it to camp in such a beautiful place . Thanks for taking us along .
Aw thank you so much, I did have a bit of a wobble on the way up and briefly debated going all the way back down.. I'm glad I didn't. Thanks for coming along with me :) Claire 🐻
As the days are getting shorter this is just the tonic we need beautiful scenery and a star covered sky most of us can't see because of light pollution,I also really like the style of your new tent. Thanks again for taking us along.
And then there we're Wild Creatures, the Rare and Endangered Wild Longhorned Goat, 🐐🐐🐐
The scenery is absolutely gorgeous. Thank you for bringing us along on your adventure.
You have a way of displaying utter beauty in all your videos. I think it comes from the beauty inside you. In this video, I loved the transition you did when you flew the drone up to see the lake from below then back down. You’re an excellent videographer.
Ahh thank you so much Lisa, I'm loving learning the videography 😍 I usually put snippets of the good stuff in the intro right at the start of the video, but I felt like I wanted to wait for a reveal on this one. It was fun to put together, I'm glad you liked it :) Hope you're having a nice week 🌿Claire🐻
Hello Claire, it is obvious from your comments section that you are bringing a lot of joy and a bit of much needed escapism to your followers when so many don’t get out in the wild as much as we should. Me included in that statement. But thank you for reminding us all, in these economic tough times that we can just get out in the country and enjoy the simple pleasure of being there. And leave our worries at home.
Your films are well made and inspiring and remind us to enjoy our own company sometimes,
away from the crowds and the noise of our everyday lives. Thank you and keep taking us along
on your adventures. Regards Andrew
Hi Andrew! Aw thanks so much, yes it's a simple kind of happiness 🌿💚 I actually am only out on alternate weekends when my son is with his dad, although it must look like I'm out all the time haha! It's a much-needed break from work, bills & all that modern-day noise, to-do-lists and chaos. Your kind words are much appreciated, thank you for coming along with me on my wanderings :) hope you're having a lovely week and best wishes, Claire 🐻
Well Claire, thank you for your kind reply.
Having watched a fair few of your trips in the great outdoors, I admire your glass always being half full attitude to life and even when it gets a bit cold or the rains come, you always keep smiling.
Your son is lucky to have such a mum with so much get up and go and I assume you have been on tenting trips together and made memories for him that he will look back on fondly when he is older.
Your biltong and noodles I imagine always taste better half way up a mountain than eating it sitting on the couch in front of the telly. They always say it tastes better outdoors. If nothing else I imagine it makes you appreciate the food you have taken on your trip and to enjoy it at your own pace and leisure. No rush. Your trips allow you to get your mind in order and think through any small problems you may have.
I am thinking of walking to the top of a small local hill in the not to distant future, which will be nothing compared to your trips but will be my own little challenge to achieve, allowing for my age and lack of fitness. I won’t be filming it, just my own day out in the fresh air.
Your enjoyment, so evident when you film yourself, makes me think it is about time I also started enjoying the crunch of grass underfoot, wind in the face, the odd bird call and watching clouds while lying on my back. Hopefully at the top of that hill ! Keep smiling. Regards Andrew.
Beautiful job!
..people will write songs of glory about your adventures and you! ..in times to come..
Love your content!
StayStrong, Claire!😅❤🫡
What an amazing location and fabulous pictures of the night sky! Obviously worth all the effort you made to get there
Thanks Terry, I loved it 💚🌿 Have a lovely eve:)
Well done Claire. This wasn't an easy one for you, but the rewards were amazing. Thanks for taking us up there with you 🙂💞
Thanks Mick I loved it ☺️ Hope you have a lovely weekend 💚🌿🐻
@@WildBeare Thanks Claire.. hope you have a peaceful one 🙂💞
Watching this I suddenly remembered what a revelation it was for me, a bookish and introverted teenager, to find myself in beautiful mountains I could walk in all day.
Watching a video is not the same of course but some of the beauty and delight is there all the same, thanks to Claire's skill and gift for communicating.
Lovely island trip, Claire 😊
It would really be nice if I could pet those lovely sheep and goats, don't you think the same? I am so lucky that I have found your channel, Claire, your calm, soft voice, your beautiful face, and smile helps me get through these rough winter days a lot easier.
Wow Claire that was breathtaking, your filming & Photography is simply amazing.
The night scenes and drone footage had my eye's poping out & that island looked so idylic with just the lone little tree to keep you company.
Your channel is the best wild camping one that i seen.
All the best.
Aw thank you so much! It was so beautiful up there, I'm glad I didn't turn back, I did debate it at one point when me fear of heights kicked in. Hope you have a great weekend :) 🌿🐻
@@WildBeare Well you beat your fear good and proper but a bit of caution in those circumstances ain't a bad thing 😊
And the same to you 👍
As someone who lives in a big city it's great that we still have wild places where you can be alone in nature. You are a real inspiration to people of all ages and your video skills are really quite professional. Well done.
Thanks so much Paul, yep I'm loving pouring over the maps and planning routes away from the main paths 💚 there were people heading up there when I was on my way down though, so seems I had it pretty lucky! I'm really enjoying learning the videography so again, thank you, and hope you have a lovely eve :) Claire 🐻
@@WildBeare missed the trip to mexico...geesh
This episode's location was just incredible
'Wild camping heaven' - Yes, and I actually live near by! Generally, I avoid Snowdon, but that little bit North of Crib Goch and the Parson's nose is remote and almost devoid of other climbers.
What a beautiful video Claire! I know you’d told me all about it but wow, absolutely stunning!!! You are so inspirational and just the BEST adventure companion ever; love you, love your enthusiasm and love your videos! 💕
Heyy Karen! Ahh thanks, it sure is beautiful up there isn't it 😍 you are also the best adventure-companion.. I wish we lived nearer & could pop off for a jolly old time whenever we felt like it haha! Love & miss you already! 🌿💚
@@WildBeare we will build dens in the woods one day!!! 💕💕
What a great adventure, beautiful scenery, the beauty an calmness, is breathtaking 🏕
You are so brave! You should be proud of yourself, young lady.
Not too shabby. When you said tiny little island you weren’t kidding.
A hard earned slice of heaven. Congratulations. High rewards from our beautiful planet. Mind blowing night sky. What an experience.
That’s an impressive climb, especially with camera gear too. Add in your fear of heights and that’s just amazing! Thanks for sharing.
You are one tough little woman, and brave as well. I'm a man in the USA and I would not do that alone. Incredible trip! Enjoyed very much.
What a beautiful little piece of paradise! Thank you so much for taking us there with you.
Thanks for coming along ☺️🌿💚
Hi Claire. Tis Irish Bob saying Helllooo Lass.
Always delighted to see one of YT's best representations of Outdoor Adventure.
Enjoy your chats and comments to the viewing crowd. You are an absolute marvel.
Love that you appreciate and respect the environment you choose.
Stay🏋️Stay🩺Stay True, and Stay Real.
Irish Bob applauds your efforts and living in the moment. Such things are real treasures, and will always yield the benefits of time well spent. 😇🤗😎🍀
Yes you did it. Glad you made it in and out safely 🙏 🙌 ❤️
A natural beauty in beautiful nature
Good to see a video about the outdoors that did not entail shooting the mountain goat then chopping down the tiny tree to cook it!
As a 70 year old woman with a lifelong fear of heights I am in awe. Thank you for taking us with you.
Incredible 🤩 amazing video. Thanks for sharing 🙏🏼
An island.
On a lake.
On a mountain.
❤😱🤓💪🏻
Those were some beautiful night sky photographs. 🤩 Wow!
Love coming along on these adventures. Great Britain has lots of hidden gems.
This has to be the best one yet, thanks so much for your hard work putting it together for us 🙏👍
Claire, you are such an incredible woman. The beautiful places you travel to and the countryside with the amazing sunsets are amazing. I enjoyed your little home on the island. Thank you for sharing this beautiful adventure with us. Glad you're safe. Enjoy your adventures and stay safe. Never give up on your dreams and your amazing adventures. Looking forward to seeing your next adventure.
Aw thank you Perry, so glad you enjoyed this, it was a beautiful place 💚🌿 I will try :D Hope you have a fantastic weekend :) Claire 🐻
You live in paradise, the stark beauty of those hills and mountains is magnificent, have you ever sat back and wondered what peoples have been there hundreds or thousands years before you ?
Thanks for your inspiring videos. I will often watch one before retiring in the evening.
The carefully calculated assessment of risk is appreciated. Just last weekend I was in the Te Ureweras just 200 metres from Nikau hut when confronted with a fresh scree covered slip. We climbed high to get over it only to find a second impassable slip that was a shute rising hundreds of metres to towering bluffs. While backtracking I discovered by accident that by sitting down I was destined for a majic carpet ride on my slippery synthetic shorts to the river below. Using a trekking pole I worked my way back to where we could safely scramble to the river and continue to the hut.
Scree slopes deserve the respect you give them and today's video reminds me that I was dangerously over extended. My companion had much longer legs so had managed maneuvers beyond my capacity. Lesson for me was don't try and match the capacity of others but instead work to your own limit just like you do.
I camped on that very same island 25 years ago. A storm brewed up from about 6pm and didn't stop all night. It was amazing. My tent fell down and let in water. I fashioned a guy rope out of my boot laces.
I dropped back down to Nant Perris the next day to dry out and reflect. The day after I got up early, went back up, took a quick look at where I'd camped up, had a sandwich then carried on over Crib Goch, Snowden then down into Beddgelert. Brilliant time. Thanks for the reminder.
I have Been following you for a while now I have watched all of your videos and I can’t help but to go back and watch them again you are such an inspiration
behold the beauty of nature, you are so lucky to be able to see it with your own eyes, thank you for showing it to all
Gorgeous...and you caught the moment and shared it with us...xx thankyou xx 🤗🤗
Brilliant effort Claire, though having been watching now for a good while, I’m not surprised anymore at what you achieve. You are areal inspiration and absolute legend. As always thanks for sharing your adventures and stay safe out there.
Wonderful. Just wonderful. Pretty much the only content creator I watch from start to finish. Such relaxing videos to watch. Thanks Claire.
Ahh thank you so much, that's so nice. Wishing you a lovely weekend :) 🌿🐻
My wife and I used to canoe out to a small island and camp on it in the middle of the huge lake. It was awesome, the starts at niight filled the sky.
You are truly a beautiful inspirational human being.
Nice to see that part of my heritage I don’t get to see very often. The scenery in Wales is under appreciated. I’m guilty myself..
Thank you so much for introducing me to such a beautiful place! You are a great tour guide. 👍
Stoked to see a wild Billy goat 🐐
That’s as far away from…..as you can get. Well done girl.
Your vids always make me smile - "How do I want to live my life? Pretty much like this!" - sums up getting outdoors beautifully.
What a special place to be if only for a moment ☺
Fantastic pitch, loved the night photography shots ✨
in a time full of problems and fears it is a blessing to see your smile in such an impressive landscape.

Think this is my favourite video yet, Looks like such a beautiful spot. North Wales is the only place I've seen the milky way!😍❤️
You are showing me/us a side of the UK I did not know existed. As a kiwi (New Zealander) I had no idea the UK was like this. I love the way you make small adventures so wonderful and that their is no need to travel vast distances to have a good time and an adventure. You have made your world a special place.
