It can be frustrating when people question Tunisia's safety due to a lack of awareness about global events. Safety concerns exist in many places worldwide, including popular cities like Paris and Istanbul. stay home and never travel because you're never too safe anywhere ... just annoying

Not true, it's legit fear. However I was travelling alone in Tunisia (Tunis- Hamamet), Djerba and it was safe in general. What I was afraid was some dogs that can be met on beaches or streets as some of them seemed very angry. Actually tunisian dogs are my worse experience from there. All people were lovely.

Just some quick notes. 3:29 Tunisia got its independence from the French in 1956 not 1957. 15:38 you said 4000 dinars which is actually about 1300 dollars. Instead, you should have either said 4 dinars or 4000 Millimes.

Thank you for your visit and for making this great video. We appreciate your honest opinion of our country and hope you enjoyed your stay overall. I'd love to see more videos of other parts of Tunisia like the coasts and the Desert.
Being a Tunisian US immigrant I wanted to clarify a few facts that were miscommunicated in your video.
    - 1st the reason for the confusing french / Arabic signs and the mixed up dialect is mainly the ongoing colonization of french to Tunis, going on almost 200 yrs now. This might be surprising to hear but it's the unfortunate truth. The occupation has ended in the 50's which most Tunisians like to think of it as independence, but the colonization is still on, in different forms. Hence the strong french (negative) influence in our culture.
    - 2nd The Arab spring is definitely NOT a revolution nor a positive historical event for the Arab nations. Quite the opposite it's a trap that the concerned Arab nations fell in and that caused them to remain in the underdeveloped stage compared to the rest of the world. It's the most stupid mistake that the Arab nations of North Africa and the Middle East have done, specially Tunisia who remained politically, socially and economically unrested to this day.
    - 3rd Tunis has been undergoing high inflation during the past 10 yrs making it more expensive than it used to, so your trip cost would vary depending on your trip style and budget, still Tunisia is a great and very affordable trip destination, welcoming people from all over the globe.
Thank you again, and looking forward for the next one. Cheers!

5:48 thanks for the positivity and enthusiasm! But it’s would have been better to talk about Tunisia culture without any political bias. The “Arab spring” theory is mostly made up by medias and promoted by other political groups that favor a khalifa over nations and people. What happened in countries like Libya and Syria are legit wars that were fully supported by foreign weapons industry lobbying. This has nothing to do with the Tunisian demonstration (or coup d’état) against the old regime.

Depends on what you want to do. If you just want to live a regular life and eat out occasionally something around 600 USD should cover the cost of living plus occasional treats like eating out and or trips etc. If you are all about the party life things can get crazy expensive very fast. Going out drinking liquor costs the same as in Europe. Since most if not all alcohol those places offer are imported they convert to literally the same price. Popping bottles will cost u 100/150usd(strong liquor} . Eating out in a very good place will cost around 20usd(this is quite high end already so expect a lot of very good places to be cheaper) a person (wine not included, but Tunisia has very good local wines that aren't expensive). So all in all it depends on what you want to do. At 600 USD a month u can get a normal appartement in a normal area and eat out have fun etc but dotn expect to go clubbing every weekend. This is for 1 person.

I'm super interested in visiting the Arab world and Tunisia seems like a great option to get started on that. I've always been told Morocco is the safest and best country to visit, but honestly, the experiences people have had seem mixed. (I still want to go, but I'm a newb to this region).
I'm wondering though, I know there's some political instability with the current government. Does it feel volatile? Are there consistent protests or acts of civil disobedience you've noticed?

Most of the Middle East is way safer than it is made out to be. I have spent roughly a month each in Tunisia, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, UAE, Oman and Pakistan, and have not felt in danger one time (other than driving conditions on mountain roads in Pakistan).
I'm in Tunisia right now, I haven't seen any major demonstrations.
I haven't been to Morocco, but it has a bad reputation for scammers and hassle. Haven't faced much of that at all in any of the countries listed (other than near the main tourist sites in Egypt).
Jordan is a great first country in the Middle East IMO. Tons of amazing sites, relatively progressive/open, and still full-on Middle East. Oman is also a great option.

not really, it depends from which areas from any parts of Tunisia for example in Tunis itself there's more arabic as you said agglomeration than it exist in Tataouine let's say, some places in "Zaghwen" are more chill than "lac" region , so it's all relative

"arabic, berber vibe"... I don't know where you get these terms from. Tunisia has been Tunisia since the beginning of Tunis history, its culture is Carthaginian from north to south. Tunisia has nothing to do with Europe or the Levant. Tunis, the capital, does not mean the period of the French occupation and its architecture. Rather, you find it in the old city and its architecture is spread throughout the country, and now it has new cities with Tunisian architecture.

    • @noureddinezouaoui-jo1re
      @noureddinezouaoui-jo1re 5 місяців тому

You re almost right but not exactly , it depends of the erea , for exemple Tunis , bizerte in the north , nabeul , monastir , sousse , Sfax all this city’s have more European vibe and mentality mixed with the traditional vibe , the south ( where the desert start ) they are more traditional and conservative people and you will feel the amazigh vibe mixed with the Arabic vibe , without forgetting places like kairouan and the cities on the center where you will feel the Islamic Arabic vibe , so conclusion the north and all the cost have this Mediterranean European vibe mixed to many other cultures , great night life , bars clubs and luxury restaurants, south is pretty much different and conservative a part the island of Djerba which is a very touristic island , even the weather is not the same , north is green , cold in winter and Mediterranean in the summer , south is hot and desert , so you can’t describe Tunisia in some words , very mixed country where you can find everything and that’s what makes it beautiful 🇹🇳
